This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Millennium Franchise (80%) on Steam Store

Millennium – A New Hope - $1.19
Millennium 2 – Take Me Higher - $1.19
Millennium 3 – Cry Wolf - $1.59
Millennium 4 – Beyond Sunset - $1.59
Millennium 5 – The Battle of the Millennium - $2.39
Hot damn i missed Millennium 4....my collection will be complete....yay for selling a foil recently for 30 whole cents!

I play survival games a lot. They are all kill on sight. I mean no matter what. You see someone you try to kill them. Are they naked? Do they have no weapons? Are they frantically yelling in voice chat that they are friendly? Kill Kill Kill. That's probably more disturbing than anything in Hatred.
Why I don't play (and generally hate) survival games. They are, mostly, just deathmatches with some "survival" mechanics and having to walk miles and miles.

I know what you mean, but I don't think that should be a difference. Criminals and soldiers can be psychopaths, too. People seem to think that having a reason to kill something makes it okay, which is hypocritical. Finding killing wrong means that all killing should be wrong; random acts of murder and premeditated murder are both still murder. None of us are omniscient, and games rarely give us that power, so how can we judge who lives and who dies? What if that German was recruited as a child soldier and brainwashed and had never touched a woman? What if the father of that family you just killed in Hatred was a child molester? Most games involving combat innately force us into mindlessly killing anything we come across. That monster spawning out of a hole in the ground in front of you might just be protecting her offspring, and you killed her for no reason. I killed people in Saints Row for being from a different part of town.

So yes, given that we have to accept that we mindlessly kill things in all games, the negative press around this game has to be to hype it into selling well.
I got you and I think we are on the same page - I agree with what you are saying. I'm just looking at it from an outside view and why it is so offensive to some people over other games and I think the central difference is the character you are playing as in Hatred.

From the trailer (I know nothing else about this game, so I admit, I'm no expert) the character actually tells us he is a psychopath. His goal is nothing else other than killing people. He feels like the suffering of people is like a drug he can't get enough of.

Sure, Franklin from GTA can be a psycho. Sure, the soldier in Call of Duty can be a psycho. Sure, that random guy you kill in Hatred could be a child molester...but all of those things are "could be's". It's a video game, we can make out the characters to be whoever we like. We can make the character in GTA literally kill every person they come across but the character the developer presented to you is driven by money and power - not mindless killing. Not to say one thing is necessarily worse than the other (although a mindless psychopath is scarier to me than a criminal looking for money, but that's just my opinion) but it is true that not many characters like the guy in Hatred exist. People are not used to that type of character and that is where the controversy is really coming from, I think.

As for me, it's just a game and I really don't care either way if people play it or they don't, but I do understand someone who would be opposed to playing it over a different game.

Now would be an awesome time for Amazon to price-match a daily deal, even though I know they won't (don't think they ever did, outside of Summer/Winter sales).

Oh well, time to get back to boringly trying to get a Visa giftcard or two before the summer sale and waiting for Amazon to let me use mturk finally.

For those with PlayFire credit looking to PlayFireyBro something ...

Worms Revolution is $2.99 (80% off) on GMG

or $2.40 after using the 20% off coupon GET20P-ERCENT-OFFNOW

All the Worms games are on sale but this is my pick of the bunch since it was always in the higher tiers of the bundles it was in.

(posted here and in the PlayFire thread to annoy Neuro twice)

Edit: After activating the key I noticed it included the Funfair and Mars DLCs. That only leaves 2 DLCs not included, so don't buy the Season Pass.

Lets say that the PacMan devs admit finally that PacMan is a psychopath cannibal and the dots he eats are toddlers. The ghosts are police trying to catch him and he gets bonus points when he can kill them. Would it be banned from every store and arcade in existance? Would people suddenly blame PacMan for everything wrong in their life? It's just a story and removing the story just makes it like any other game in its genre. Hannibal is a top rated show on TV, so what happens when they turn that into a video game. It's just hypocrisy and ignorance. Adult games are an entirely different beast but when you look at the statistics on where the harshest laws are regarding porn you'll also notice those areas have the largest porn consumption. More hypocrisy.

A little silly considering it still wouldn't be in the game and the (lack of graphics) are a whole different ballgame. A TV show is a bad comparison because TV is looked at differently compared to video games. That is hypocrisy and I wholeheartedly agree that is wrong but that's how it is.

Simply, Hatred's character IS a little different. There aren't many games out there with that type of character. "It's just a story"...well some people play games and are interested in what the story is. People aren't used to it and people always are a little hesitant towards different things.

On Topic: This will be my first 'Steam Sale' since finally getting a gaming PC, wonder what I'm in for? I hear sales aren't as great as they were years ago but I'm hoping there are still some good things?

The sales arent as great as they once were, but are still pretty good. This forum is jaded however, given that there are people here with 3000+ games in their Steam Library. Just follow a couple cardinal rules, like take a look at publisher packs to see if they interest you before buying any of the games that might be in those packs. Also, NEVER EVER EVER EVER buy a game that isn't a daily or flash sale until the last day of regular sales when it has little to no chance of being a daily deal. DO buy daily deals, as they probably wont be any cheaper {on Steam} for the remainder of the sale. DO take advantage of price mistakes as you see them if you can, but only if you are sure it is a good deal. Am I leaving anything else out, guys?

Edited, because a word.

Wow, thanks for the tips! I'll have to keep an eye on this thread when the sale is going on. I'm hoping to build up my library with some substantial games, at the moment I pretty much only have bundle games.

Besides sales.. Stocking up on cards for badges now before the prices get jacked. Badges give seasonal cards, coupons, and other rewards sometimes. Voting on the flash sales usually gives a seasonal card. They'll probably have some interactive event or auction again to get people to use their gems.

I actually do have a decent stock of cards because I got a little lazy in crafting badges and the like, but it sounds like that was a good thing. It should be interesting at the very least.

But, what about violent sex? I'm just sayin', hypothetically. Is that OK?

Don't judge.
According to Rashida Jones, about 40% of porn is violent towards women (about 10:35-10:50 mark).

Probably not, the first game never got cheaper than $15 on steam.
But you could (and I did) get that first one for ~$12 off GmG with voucher or vip. One could take a chance and wait if three bucks means that much. *shrugs*

i watched that video and Rashida Jones is a prude and hates men

(sigh) I need to find money for some Stanley Cup tickets...

And on that note.. I'm sure I won't have Steam sale funds :(

Idlemaster still works for me... just haven't picked up a significant amount of games to idle.

I wonder if I can idle the new Nintendo bundle.. get me some good cards that way ;)
