"Tryhard" makes sense to me when people complain about people not "PTFO" or barking orders in a matchmaking game with randoms.  Some people just want to mess around and have fun, not practice for the MLG PROS.

Who is that streamer? I'm not a child or an idiot, so I don't watch streamers.

EDIT: Oh, thnks Motoki. Hving reelz fakes frweeds maans I don't do thet stwff.

I love you too, real talk, I don't know half these youtube/streamers either.

I actually thought the streamer was sp00der making his money.

EDIT: Oh, thanks Motoki. Having real friends means I don't do that stuff.
I had no idea who the hell it was either. I googled the email handle in that screengrab. I don't get the whole youtube/twitch thing. grandpasimpson.gif

I will never understand why people watch streams of other people playing video games. People must be pretty lonely.
damn dude.. I just realize from your statement that there were roughly 150 millions lonely Americans out there watching a handful of sweaty guys playing football during the last SuperBowl final. :whistle2:

Isn't it more FUN AND INTERACTIVE to pick up the damn ball THEMSELVES and play the game THEMSELVES? :whistle2:

Same thing could be said about porn and sex. amirite?

Not really. I can watch a professional game, sports or esports, and it may very well be more entertaining than my amateurish fumblings. Never in a million years will watching porn be more entertaining than my amateurish fumblings in that area.

Hey if you think watching losers play video games is entertaining then more power to you. Do whatever you enjoy.

I have even less interest in watching professional sports than I do in watching Twitch but comparing interest in a couple professional athletic teams competing in the final event of the season to watching some derps on Twitch or YouTube seems like protesting maybe a little too much.

A better comparison would be watching the finals in Evo or something to the Super Bowl and yes I watch pretty much all the Evo final matches.

A better comparison would be watching the finals in Evo or something ...
Well, it wouldn't since we were just talking about one specific guy and why people watch streams and someone compared it to people watching the Superbowl.

That said, I don't consider a bunch of dudes playing Street Fighter comparable to professional physical athletes either. If it's what you're into, cool, I just don't see them as equivalent.

I wish I had so little regard for my disposable income that I paid a guy to play video games.

Wait, no I don't. Can't hate on the guy soaking idiots for cash though; not his fault people are dumb.
*shrug* I'm not one to tell a person what they should or shouldn't do with their disposable income... Now, I personally, don't think I would ever pay someone to watch them stream a game but I can think of allot stupider things to do with disposable income (again, in my opinion)... Like smoking, buying drugs (illegal obviously), donating to a political candidate, etc.

That said I do watch game videos but not really anyone streaming on twitch.. Outside of wanting to see if a game will be up my alley. I watched some random guy play Rainbow Six Siege, another play some Overwatch, and maybe some Division Open Beta during the Xbone's extra day... but never for long... Its just not as engaging on stream. But like I said I do watch a fair amount of game videos on youtube. (Mostly on lunch while at work. Not much to do at 2 AM in the morning so it fills a void if I'm not involved in a book.)

Still, outside of the possibility of one guy, The Gaming Historian's stuff is really good, I don't think I would ever just send money to a youtuber. (To me they do this stuff either for they're own entertainment, the ad revenue they get, or the hopes of catching fame... Even if its just internet fame.)

Edit: Day 1 patch notes for The Division.

how was the division beta? Never got around to playing it. Is it one of those games that the console crowd will flock to but it'll be dead on pc in a few weeks? I wouldn't care to get it on PS4 but I'd much rather get it on PC if it seems like the kind of game to keep people playing.

Thats cool that all of you are buying Stardew Valley. This is only guaranteeing that it will be bundled in the next few weeks. Thanks!
inb4 it's a limited 1,000 copy first time subscriber bonus for humble monthly. I think they did something similar with Starbound.

while all you losers are farming your Stardews and multiplying your Divisions, i'm gonna be waiting to play a wrestling game, that i already own on console, that really isn't that great. cuz i'm a  fuck ing crazy person...

They did that stuff once... I'm guessing it didn't get the BTA up as much as they hoped it would. As for doing it on a Monthly? That seems like a good way to piss off the rest of your subscribers.

Frankly, I loved it and allot of other CAGs bought it with the intention of playing it day one. Rather or not it will last on console more than on PC I have no idea... Xbone has the season pass stuff for a month before the other platforms get it. It also does force one to use Uplay. It does seem to be the best selling PC game at every site right now. As for it needing a large player base. Frankly it really doesn't but like any game a larger player base would be more fun. You can run campaign missions/side missions with friends. The only place where another player can shoot you is the Dark Zone but the ultimate source of all loot in the game is PVE. If you never saw another player in the dark zone it wouldn't truly affect your ability to advance your character... Granted a lack of teammates might slow you down.

You most understand this game has more mechanics from Diablo, Borderlands, or Destiny than it does a CoD, Halo, Gears, etc. Its completely loot driven. If you have no desire to rerun missions for better loot, to pick up stuff that drops and looks at stats to see which is better, to get excited at those small improvement to your character stats, to curse RNG but yet to do it all over again because next time, Dammit, something good is going to drop... If that doesn't sound appealing then this game isn't likely going to be for you.

lt:dr you really should have tried the beta... Its a pretty polarizing game and not one easy defined.

Edit: Anyhow, I'm going to go hit the hay on the offset chance that the game goes live across the world when the severs do.

lol they did that stupid "get a game from the previous bundle" for first time subscribers before, so I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. It'd get them 1,000 guaranteed subs, or more depending on how many copies they limit it to.

Went to Okeechobee Music Festival for the last 4 days. No Wifi or data service on the cell. Come back, see a bajillion notifications. Immediately worried I missed awesome deal. Nope, just a Newbie getting banned.

Dark Souls 3 on pc gameplay. It's an older build though but was locked to 30 fps, no one is sure if it's gonna be locked to 30 like DS1 or not.

Is it possible to put mods in Dark Souls 2- Scholar of the First Sin?

Boy watch them really cock up three ports in a row, say it's too complicated to fix, then have some guy fix it and make the game better in about 15 minutes again.

Modding can get you softbanned meaning you won't be able to play online.

At least the game's here in the first place.

Thanks to modders like Durante, we're also able to get our basic PC ports fixed quite properly.

Just bought the Just Cause 1 and 2 collection and the Kane & Lynch 1 and 2 collection before the Square sale ended. Looks like they might be enjoyable.

Well at least two of those games (and one that is like a third of a game) are!
It was a buck more to add Just Cause so I went for it. I've heard the second game is better than the first. Kane and Lynch both might be OK, but they were cheap! Now I understand what the big draw of PC gaming is - buying mediocre games at great prices!!!

Solid point... I do think its slightly different. They had everyone's money from the month before so while you could piss someone off (and might lose future money) giving a bonus game to the first 1000 (or whatever number) sign ups seems like a great way to piss off allot of people. If it sold out, and it was a game I had wanted, I imagine I would be skipping that monthly.

It just seems like you are leave money on the table versus a, well, might leave money on the table...

I honestly cannot even remember if that one bundle sold out of Starbound... It wasn't just the first 10K bundles but like the first 10K bundles to break 10 dollars.

Hmmm, in reading that I see some things that I understand would make the game easier but also take away greatly from the immersion. Like why or how would you know there are non-people enemies in certain places? Part of the fun of the game is being surprised by stuff. And then being told what mask you need to enter certain areas only makes sense if you've been there before to know what to anticipate. Not game breaking stuff, but stuff where I'm like I don't need my hand held that much.

Also, if anyone hasn't yet and are getting the Division, don't forget to redeem these outfits:

re: Youtube/Twitch Streamers

First, people love to make like the whole nerd vs. jock argument about people watching sports, but it's completely different. Basketball is the only sport you could potentially play by yourself (and really you'd just be practicing) and you'd still need to find a hoop and have a ball and likely drive somewhere. Good luck finding 22 people to get a good old fashioned game of contact football going or 18 for a baseball game. Soccer and basketball can be played with less, but it's a lot harder to get a game going of real life sports compared to sitting my ass at the computer and playing something. So watching sports makes a lot more sense than watching video games being played.

That said, I'm not of the "watching video game streamers is stupid" mindset anymore. I get why they are appealing and why some people enjoy them. I just tend to find most personalities and their followers obnoxious or pretentious or both and I tend to prefer to play something myself - when I can. Watching someone else play a game I don't have or am considering purchasing can be really beneficial. And in a way, some MP games are like sports in that playing by yourself with randoms or bots isn't much fun, it's hard to find people you know to play with, so it'd be easier/more entertaining to watch others play.

Just Cause 2 is a good deal of fun, provided you like blowing stuff up.  There's really no reason to play the original given that the sequel is superior in every way.

I agree that it'd piss people off, but I doubt Humble care all that much if it does.. and yes, Starbound definitely did sell out in that bundle, and it happened pretty fast.

That was a long time ago when Humble just started experimenting with price manipulation. Now they could just as easily put some 5x shirt or a box full of 'collectable' junk for $70 or whatever and morans will still buy it to drive the price up. Also Stardew Valley isn't developed by Chucklefish like Starbound is.

If you guys want to feel vindicated by not caving to peer pressure or whatever go ahead. I just don't see it happening myself.
