Sandy Hook Happened
Agreed. One of the families that lost a child lived in my area, yes their daughter was killed. It was written about in the local press and even had articles last year.

I think we all agree that people can have different opinions on politics and such. However, like Fox, I cannot imagine why someone would try to deny an incident that ended the lives of over 2 dozen people. It happened.

I am interested as well in Tooth and Nail, but I can wait until a different bundle as I am not wanting to spend $12 (noticed no $2 monthly sub bonus this time).

To be honest, I game to escape the world. I like thinking at times, but there are plenty of times, I just want to FPS or have fun exploring.

All the GTA4 Fans of the world, be ready & prepared just in case songs could get removed/patched-out:

http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2018/04/09/some-of-gta-ivs-music-licenses-expire-later-this-month-and-songs-will-be-removed

Music license is supposedly at the end of this month for GTA4's Music.

So, yeah - if you want, go back-up your GTA4 game-folders and especially the music files/folders that shipped w/ the game, just in case.

Also, you might want to check and see what songs you already own on CD, MP3, FLAC, WAV or whatever format you have - and rip, cut, and/or throw them in the GTA4 MP3 Radio Station's Game Folder.
Does this count for the physical copies of the game?
Where can I grab a cheap version of GTA IV for pc.

Rockstar has confirmed that music will be removed from the game, but it plans to make up for that by introducing new songs in their place. A spokesperson told GameSpot, "Sandy Hook Happened and Due to music licensing restrictions, we are required to remove certain songs from the in-game soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto IV and its Episodes, in particular a large portion of the Russian pop station, Vladivostok FM. However we are replacing some of those songs with a new set of songs on that station. We will update our customer support website with new information as soon as it is available."

Good to see someone is getting some use out of that groupees royalty free music bundle!

Why is it that you never hear of movies losing music rights, yet videogame publishers sign contracts that cause my games to lose music?

Where is the outrage? :bomb:

This is the thing that annoy me the most every time this happens. Why would you entertain such a deal?

I mean I know the answer... they saved a few bucks but it really cuts into the video games are an art form argument to me. (Some are, and can be, but most AAA games aren't.)

It's easy when most movies are made by the same few companies that also own the music publishers.

New Profile Privacy Settings
April 10 - al
Today’s update expands on your Profile Privacy Settings Page, giving you more control over the privacy of your Steam account. With more detailed descriptions of what profile information is included in each category, you will be able to manage how you are viewed by your friends, or the wider Steam Community.

You can now select who can view your profile’s “game details”; which includes the list of games you have purchased or wishlisted, along with achievements and playtime. This setting also controls whether you’re seen as “in-game” and the title of the game you are playing.

Additionally, regardless of which setting you choose for your profile’s game details, you now have the option to keep your total game playtime private. You no longer need to nervously laugh it off as a bug when your friends notice the 4,000+ hours you've put into Ricochet.

Looking ahead a little, we are also working on a new “invisible” mode in addition to the already existing “online”, “away” and “offline” presence options. If you choose to set yourself to invisible, you’ll appear as offline, but you’ll still be able to view your friends list, send and receive messages. Sometimes you’re feeling social, and sometimes you’re not; this setting should help Steam users be social on their own terms. We hope to have this feature ready for beta release soon.

Like many Steam features, these privacy options come directly from user feedback. If you would like to join that conversation, as always, we welcome you to visit the Steam Discussions and add your feedback.

Has anyone played HUNT:SHOWDOWN from Crytek, looks pretty cool, might give it a go.
My not terribly interesting story about HUNT: I worked on it for a bit. Back when it was HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, and was being made by Crytek Austin. Game looked amazing... was going to be like Left 4 Dead 2, but free to play. Then the entire Austin studio quit (they weren't being paid in a timely manner... or maybe at all), and I believe the game was transferred back to Germany. Quite a different game now, using many of the same assets. I'm pretty sure that exactly ZERO of my work is in there anymore. But at least I got paid! I signed up for the beta, watched some gameplay, and deleted it without even starting it up.

It's not that bad. I play some games with them occasionally, but I've heard of people that play exclusively with a ball.

I guess it's just another learning curve for some people and it's more natural to them. Like the freaks who play all games on computer with a controller.
Well played on that. When I was in the service we use to have a couple of the huge Kingston trackball mice that had a really good feel to them. Also it was a handy "anti theft" device too as you could just take the ball with you and keep people off the PC. (You couldn't just lock the PC... As everyone in the room had admin privileges and could just as easily log you off.)

Steam charts seems to be functioning normally... but this seems like a rather shitty move. Steam has always been the platform you could get honest sales numbers on and now its gone.

That bit with When Harry Met Sally is a real trip! As one on my favorite movies, I agree with the author that *not* playing "It Had to be You" sung by Sinatra loses part of the emotional weight.

In another note, in most of the DVD collections of Beavis and Butthead, the moments when they are talking over the music videos have been removed. I think only one special collection has the videos restored. Arguably, the video talkovers are better than the 'story' portions of the show. It's like watching a whole different thing.

Steam Charts does get data from user profiles.

For this change you can blame EU

Easier to have single set of rules than change by country (like with refunds).

I think it's positive change overall, though.

(Also Steam Spy was never close to real sales numbers, expect for AAAs and biggest indie games. everything small was wildly inaccurate.)

It would be nice to be able to specify which game details are public and which are private. For example, I'm fine with my owned games, idling playtime, achievements, etc. being public but I'd prefer to only make my wishlist private.

I'm happy I screenshotted everyone's wishlist before the change was implemented. Zuckerberg is paying top dollar for them.

Sandy Hook happened.

then it turns out the new SW:TLJ pinball is actually all about the old SW pinball tables, so it suffers from a massive identity crisis, leaving fans confused.

XSEED is bringing Bullet Witch to PC on April 25 for $14.99 with a 10% off launch discount:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/696180/Bullet_Witch/

https://gematsu.com/2018/04/bullet-witch-coming-pc-april-25

They're also bringing Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal to PC this fall at the same time as the PS4 version:

https://gematsu.com/2018/04/senran-kagura-burst-renewal-coming-west-ps4-pc-fall

Kinda crazy seeing a 2006 Xbox 360 exclusive make it to PC like 12 years later.  Now if only Microsoft would let someone port Lost Odyssey over...

It's worth noting the bit about Vladovistok FM in that announcement. How many of you guys are a) still playing GTAIV? and b) listening to the Russian radio station a lot?

So I got chose for the desgia 5 complete beta but hadn't had the chance to fill out the NDA to get the steam key apperntally they accepted more people then they had keys for and sent out another email saying that if you didn't fill it out don't bother because all slots are filled , oh well.

Bullet Witch was a pretty crap game. Played it on the 360 back when. Calling it an "exclusive" kind of implies it was desired on other platforms.

Seeing the name "Bullet Witch" immediately invoked thoughts of Bayonetta or bullet-hell shooters. Watching gameplay footage immediately invoked thoughts of "Wow, this looks dull".

BTW, I know there's been talk of RDR around here in the past. We'll never get a proper PC port, but enjoy watching this beautiful X1X 4K footage as you think about what could have been. I've never wanted a $500 console more than I do now.

Yeah, I avoid looking at things like this, because I bought a non-X Xbone.

Minimum 60fps or GTFO. I tried replaying some of it the other day and the input lag makes it a miserable experience. 2010 me must've been much more forgiving or still in a peasant haze.

A. Not me.
B. Not much.

There's also the thing that: we paid for the game already and the music should stay. More or less, it's a part of the game and important to the game b/c...well, it's what the game shipped with for content. It's what the dev's intended. I really don't like the idea of content we paid for already being removed from the game.

Dev's and pub's need to work out better deals suited for music usage/licensing, if they're going to run into this issues every 5-10 years or so w/ every damn game about music licensing rights, where songs or games might get pulled b/c of this non-sense.

Vladovistok FM does give us a very unique sounding station with its Russian pop, rap, and whatnot. So, there's also that - even if most of us normally aren't listening to it.

But if you can just shoot the ball straight from the plunger into the multi-ball, why don't they do that every time?!?!
Did you every hear the tragedy of Darth Pinballus the Wise? I though not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith Legend.
Darth Pinballus was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and wise that he could use the Force to always get a replay, noone ever saw him fall.
He's a pinball wizard.

How about just play the damn game when it comes out? GTA IV came out 10 years ago. It's a miracle Rockstar is even replacing the expiring tracks with something else.

GTA IV I don't really care about, but as far as GTA III and Vice City and San Andreas go, the soundtracks were absolutely, positively integral to the quality of those games. GTA III especially feels empty and barren but the soundtrack is really incredible and perfectly fits and enhances the game itself.

GTA IV has a modern setting and I'm not so sure, but I don't think GTA III or Vice City or San Andreas are worth playing today if they end up getting substituted with generic soundtracks.

Some of us plan on having children and passing down our values to the next generation. None of my kids are going to vote for Trump, or play GTA with a generic soundtrack.

Happened to everyone I know of so far. Everyone got that email btw, including people that never got the acceptance email to begin with. Big fuck up by NISA, but that's no surprise.

I feel like they're constantly apologizing for their screwups at this point lol

It's one thing to remove songs from newly purchase copies, but removing them from a game that you already bought is a whole an another issue.

They'll replace the music but not the GFWL. Thanks Rockstar!
This is the real problem, why isn't GTA IV using Steam or something else?

The whole music licensing mess is foolish and is the reason why a lot of good shows and movies never get released on newer formats. The music industry won lawsuits to get copyright protection extended to 70 years, regardless of where it's performed. Even videos you might take at a concert are subject to infringement, for both IP and DPD reproduction. I doubt they'll actually patch console versions, but who knows. Pretty ironic for a company that made Manhunt 2 and is known for their sex and violence to cow-tow to Ruslana and David Guetta. Hope you guys enjoy listening to Vitas whenever you're escorting the Russian mafia in that game.

Thank you for purchasing Dale Hardshovel!

Your order is almost complete, but we need to verify your phone number to continue your purchase.

We apologize for the inconvenience; we’ve added this additional step to protect your payment account. We will run a pre-approval for the purchase, but we will not finalize the payment until your order is available for download.

I got this email last week with that other penny game, too, so I figure it'll happen every time I pay a penny. Doesn't happen when I buy bundles at a dollar.

Then their plan is working...

I take your general point, but at the same time, it's hard for me to get worked up over something this old and obscure.

Whenever this comes up, I always think about how the old Bill Hartnell Doctor Who serial "The Chase" included a brief snippet of a Beatles performance that had to be excised when it was released on home video. That's funny to me, for some reason.

I did. And it was great! DLC's too.

This all doesn't mean others did or didn't though.

GTA4 base-game was much more grounded than most GTA's in the gameplay department and added a new cover system to the series.

EFLC talk now AKA GTA 4 DLC's.

The Lost and the Damned was also great; less grounded than GTA. TLATD is very focused on being a biker and driving motorcycles. That stuff was awesome.

Ballad was more like a modern Vice City in everything: substance, style, and content. When compared to TLATD, Ballad is way looser, fun, and much more over-the-top TBH. Ballad was great.

About buying content: what we buy is what we should keep. PERIOD. This whole music licensing non-sense is a whole bunch of bull, IMHO.

EDIT:

I take your general point, but at the same time, it's hard for me to get worked up over something this old and obscure.
It's a part of the game and its atmosphere, IMHO. Yeah, I might not listen to that station as much as same some of the pop stations, R&B stations, rock stations, or hip-hop/rap stations - but if I jump in a car and the car's already on that station, depending on how things are going, I might not change the station. I might be too busy driving away from enemies or too into the game to do so if stuff's going down - and a Russian-influenced radio station makes sense, as the game does deal w/ the Russian mafia and have characters tied to that region of the world and around it. It gives the game another flavor and option for the player to listen and vibe to; something different is always welcome.

Of course, I'm sure if some of the GTA4 music like Lib City Rock Radio (w/ classic stuff from Alice Cooper, REM, Queen, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi, etc) or The Beat with some modern jams from (Kanye, Busta, The Lox, T.I., and others) was going away - everybody would be throwing their hands up in the air and very unhappy about this all.
