But don't worry, there's still some left in stock here.

So Borderlands 3 is on Steam now.... 50% off day 1, anyone going to jump on it? (I doubt I will with Div 2 and PoE having new content.)
Maybe when there is a GotY version with the DLC all included for like 20 bucks or something. I am more likely to go back and play through BL2 or TPS again. I never did get around to TPS dlc and always meant to play at least one other class in BL2 and never got around to it. With my backlog I've finally started to realize how stupid buying more games is when I have thousands of hours of great games to play and no time to play what I have. I mean I bought Division 2 at release and I still have not played it more than the three hours or so I played when it first launched. That is fucking idiotic. And I've done that with a bunch of games.

The most likely reason I would pick up BL3 at some point is to play through it in multiplayer and the friends I played the first three games with played it at release on Epic and certainly are not going to rebuy on Steam so I might never bother. Especially since I kinda hate giving any money to Gearbox these days.

Thanks for pointing out the itch.io stuff. I pretty much saw other than what you put some walking sims of different types. I generally don't buy those, but I may try some later on. Also Macbat 64 was something I actually wanted to try.

Related to earlier discussion, apparently sometime a few weeks back they updated Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel basically to slip in a bunch of advertising for BL3 and merge all three games into the same login thing, you have to log in with a shift account or whatever they are called.  Oh and it also broke all mods of course.

Hrm, someone offered $320 cash for my gtx 1080 today. (GV-N1080D5X-8GD)  That's pretty decent, right?

Would be left using a 1060 6gb until new cards have affected the market.  Considering the game I'm currently busy with is a decade old psp game recently translated & updated by fellow fans, I'm leaning towards doing it.

You've had to use Shift accounts on BL2 since it came out. That's nothing new.

Yeah, that's an obvious deal you take. Plus there is no fees/tax. Then you can put that money towards an RTX 3070 in the fall for $500.

I bought my GTX 1080 for $300 16 months ago, and it's a good model.

Shift isn't new but the requirement to make a shift profile and the move to matchmaking* through it is new. You don't hop into the game and show your Steam name anymore, you have to go through Shift itself. I did find this though so presumably it would work to allow you to play offline and play a mod or whatever.

*I think this might mean that you can play with Epic BL3 players but I didn't look into it, so don't quote me on that.

Started playing Death's Gambit today. Lol it's basically like the developers just tried to copy paste dark souls into a 2d plane, the stat categories are pretty identical, similar atmosphere, UI, stamina based combat, lore in item text, etc.

It's decent. If you like dark souls and 2d combat you'll probably have a decent enough time with it. It's good enough I'll keep playing it, but it's nothing spectacular

also finished up my friend pedro today, i didn't know anything about the game going in, just saw the art of the banana, was kinda surprised by it, thought it'd be like some adventure game or something i guess. it's a twin stick side scrolling shooter with a bullet time type mechanic. it was ok, not really my jam though. i probably would've stopped playing it but hltb said it was only 3 or 4 hours so i finished it

Anyone else playing through Will of the Wisps? I thought Blind Forest was fine and was expecting more of the same but my goodness this game is such a significant step above it in virtually every area.

How so? I played blind forest a few weeks ago and i was lukewarm on it. Though it was ok but was disappointed

Just started it over the weekend, and am only up to talking to the frog guy that sends you to start the waterwheel.
I've read that unlike the previous game there will be bosses this time, which doesn't seem like a big deal.
I'm more curious if there's going to be escape levels that make me want to toss my controller and punt my pc like in Blind Forest.

I'm right at the end and have been enjoying quite a bit. Definitely better than the first one. It's pretty satisfying to run through some of the more difficult platforming sections (though the last ability you get breaks this a bit).

Right at the end? You guys and your finishing games. So cute. I can barely get any started. Got a mean backlog, though.

I kinda felt the same way about Blind Forest. Maybe I bought into the hype too much that it was one of the best games in the genre, but for me, it wasn't all that memorable outside of its looks and its music. But Will of the Wisps kicks both of those up a notch while improving platforming and combat significantly. It feels like you have more options at your disposal when it comes to getting around the map and there's a lot more variety to the combat which is legitimately satisfying. The moment-to-moment gameplay is just so fluid and wonderful.

And yes, there are chase sequences which I really didn't like in Blind Forest but I feel like they either toned them down a bit or the additional platforming skills make them a little easier. I abhorred them in Blind Forest; they felt way too trial and error and it was too easy to get screwed over by one minor mistake and get sent back to the beginning. Chase seqeuences look and feel cool when you nail them on the first or second try. They're much less cool when you're on your 10th attempt because a falling rock you never saw coming trips you up. But yeah, for me at least, they haven't been anywhere near as annoying in Will of the Wisps.

So yeah, Will of the Wisps is fantastic. Only real negatives I can think of are the technical hiccups. Occasional audio glitch where the game might be missing some sound effects and stutter when you enter a new area for the first time. But it's been smooth 99% of the time.

One more thing I fogot to mention: In the Blind Forest Definitive Edition, you could only fast travel from one spirit well to another. In Will of the Wisps, you can fast travel to any spirit well from anywhere at any time once it's been discovered. Small change that makes a big difference.

Not me.

Too much already in the backlog untouched or unfinished - i.e. Division 1 & Season Pass; Div 2 base; GR:WL, GR: BP; RG: Outlaw; ELEX; Wasteland 2 DC; Watch Dogs 2 Complete; etc etc.

That's not BL3: Super Deluxe Ed at $30.

(BL3: SDE at $30 would be tempting).

And I still got BL2 DLC's & BL:TPS Complete backlogged.
OMG, like yeah, I still have NCAA, AARP, AWOL, FBI, SWAT, DMV, AFK, BRB, DOB, ABS, ALS, SUV, PST, NPR, NFL, MLB, NRA, PAWS (All DRM Free) in my backlog! I read they'll all totally run great at 4k60fps on my laptop.

GOAT OF DUTY is free on Steam until March 31st. Tremendous! Only I know how to bring you free goat related games. Everyone knows it. Sleepy Joe BidenCat can't do it, he only gives free games to HunterBidenCat.  BernieCat wants to take all your free games and give them to socialists!

Coming soon to PC Game Pass

March 19th: The Surge 2

March 26th: Power Rangers Battle for the Grid

Astrologaster also mentioned but without a specific date.

Pretty lousy that PC users miss out on Ace Combat 7, though. Still neat to see Surge 2 there. Fell off the original early but the sequel looks like an improvement across the board.

Yeah, but then I’d have to install Uplay.
They are hoping that self-isolation and boredom will impair your decision making abilities!

I went ahead and downloaded it to see how it will perform on the ol' rig even though I'm several AC games behind (still need to play Black Flag!).

Unless you particularly enjoy them, don't impose on yourself the need to play through past AC games.  To me, that's enduring several successions of soulless copypasta.

Since the overarching plot and characters in AC are poor / irrelevant, I'd recommend going straight to Odyssey - where here's at least some good gameplay & world exploration to enjoy.

I don't think you can go wrong with Origins or Odyssey, but definitely no need to play both unless you plan to give yourself a lot of time between playthroughs. By the end of either game you'll be burned out. I think Odyssey is the slightly better game but exploring ancient Egypt is tough to beat so Origins is still my fave. Best setting in the series.

At some point I wanted to get into the AC series; but now that there are like 30+ games it's too tiring to sift through them all.
If possible - don't play them all back-to-back. Space 'em out.

Don't do any grinding or boring "MMO-like" quests, if possible - stick to mostly main quests, if possible.

Side note: this might be tougher to do w/ Origins or Odyssey b/c they have leveling systems that matter. Odyssey also has a 10% booster to purchase, to boost XP to make it less grind-y.

Personally, I'd recommend: AC2: Ezio Trilogy (AC2+AC:BH+AC: Rev); AC4 Black Flag & Freedom Cry; and AC: Syndicate.
