A little experiment I just did before the change over (point total reset) in teams at 1 PM EST:

Bought 5 card set of Counter Strike: Global Offensive (cheapest total card set I could find for a badge) $0.60

Gained 1 Steam Summer Adventure Card from crafting badge

Gained 2 additional Steam Adventure Cards from being on winning team (yes I'm purple, deal with it Bitches)

Sold 3 Steam Adventure Cards for $1.02

$0.42 profit or 41%

About them teams... are you randomly assigned into one every day or are you stuck with your teamcolor for the rest of the sale? I'm asking because I was in red "yesterday" and still am now. Could be coincidence.

It's loads of fun. If you want to be the guy who stays well away from battle and picks off the zeds with a gun, you can find that guy. If you want to wade into a horde of them swinging a skull crushing heavy weapon, go for it. If you want to dance around, ducking and dodging as you beat up the bad guys, you can do that too.

The main storyline is pretty good in my opinion as well. It mostly feels like you never have enough time to get everything done. You're pulled between defending your base, helping out your guys and strangers, advancing the storyline and just keeping enough supplies gathered to keep your team alive.

Also, there are legit threats in the game. Some of the uncommon zeds can make your day a bad one. You have to watch your back in State of Decay. It's easy to get those guys you invested hours into leveling their skills injured or even killed if you get in the wrong situation.

Picked up Don't Starve and Breakdown for State of Decay. Not bad, too bad Reign of Giants didn't hit 75% off but it's fairly new so it kind of makes sense that it didn't. Not really blown away by the sale so far. Did I miss any glitches today, I overslept and missed a vote (I'm terrible).

On the whole team competition thing, only 30 people get free games? That's like the chances of hitting the lottery right? Good chance I will be attacked by a polar bear and a brown bear in the same days....and hit by lightning.

I'd hold off IMO, I watched FerretBomb play it and while it was fun to watch, he would get somewhat frustrated with some of its Early Access type issues, like the AI and pathfinding. But he also is picky about games.

That new way of handling the marketplace is a bit weird. I can see that they're simplifying things a bit, but I still kind of prefer to see a long list to get an idea of what to sell an item for than seeing sales numbers for a variety of prices. I just stick to the badges page to buy new cards with my credit, as that lets me get to the old style of marketplace page.

Its only people who craft though right? That's probably a fraction of the people buying games. I think most people don't even bother with the cards right?

Not just people who craft, but people who accrue points in any way that day for the winning team. You can also get points by simply spending $10 collectively, or voting 3 times total.

Looks like red team took their last place finish personally and are fighting it out with purple.  Meanwhile, team green (my team)  is apparently depressed at the second place finish and is moping at the bottom of the standings.

Hated Spore with a passion. So simple. Endless possibilities, but the game grew bland rather quickly for me. I typically have an open mind when it comes to playing new games and can usually squeeze at least a little fun out of'em.

Spore was just terrible... so, so terrible.
