I concur it's good. I've already beat it for a single playthrough and found most things in about 5.5 hours. Will start NG+ for the harder difficulty a bit later after I finish finding the last bits of music sheets.

I'd say it's definitely worth $10 to $15 for the price. Music is great, design is great, the feel is great and it's really damn enjoyable. Takes from a lot of various platformers such as Mega Man, Duck Tales, Zelda II, Castlevania and possibly a couple of others and then combines them in a good way. Definitely recommend playing with a D-Pad and not an Analog Stick if you're sporting a controller unless you rebind keys for your abilities or you'll be firing them off accidentally and it feels better using the D-Pad.

Biggest fault besides length, which is to be expected of this game is probably difficulty. It's a fair difficulty but options for more difficulties would be better. Not sure the difficulty of NG+, but we'll see. Other than that, it would be great if the controls were Mega Man tight. Don't get me wrong, they're good but it can be a little bit better.

Edit:  Strike Vector seems like the only thing I don't own that I want.  Any good?

No, but Stanford's Engineering library, yes. They seriously downsized it when moving to the new Nvidia building. Most of the books are in a warehouse 50 miles and a couple days away. It sucks! You can't just park your ass in the right section in the stacks explore all the books on a given topic. I can "borrow" books from Russians faster than I can get the same books from the library I'm already in.

Losing the ability easily thumb through all the books on a subject is a major loss.

Voted for sci fi strategy because I want sins of a solar empire but I already know all the skyrim fanboys (insert really bad name here) will vote for that one and it will win.

If Goat Simulator were 85% I'd grab it, but not at 40%. I might grab Alice, been debating it for a while, hoping the Steam version would reach $4 like the Origin version has, but no such luck. Might just grab it at $5

I don't, and it's technically on my wishlist but just because of the Game of Thrones mod. Then I remind myself that I absolutely hate strategy games and would never play it, even with the mod.

As far as Alice is concerned. On Steam I wouldn't bother. You can't get the first game with it like you could on Origin and many, many people are reporting it not working on the forums.

They did add a shorter mode, it's part of the Gold Edition DLC. Although I prefer the longer levels, in short levels you tend to get bum-rushed by mobs, which isn't terrible for the first couple floors, but in the later floors it poses much more of a problem. Also I actually preferred the crafting system in this to Dredmor, in this you have to discover all the recipes yourself and so it felt more like I was progressing, and AFAIK in Dredmor it doesn't save the "secret recipes" you find in bookshelves so you kind of have to write it down or look it up. Plus crafting in The Pit makes more sense - bread cheese and meat makes a sandwhich. In Dredmor, there's the humor element, so you have armor that is crafted out of 4 different grades of meat, etc; not the most intuitive.

Playing Crusader Kings 2 is like taking a graduate course in medieval history. You need to be the right kind of someone to find it interesting otherwise it's just a hell of a lot of confusing work.

Alice worked fine for me on Steam and, bonus, auto-added itself to my Origin library. So even if it didn't work on Steam for some reason, there's always Plan B.

Edit: Scratch that. I thought I owned it on Steam but don't. I bought it as a stand-alone from Amazon way back when.

Hm, but vanilla Borderlands 2 is showing 67% off at $6.59 for me, 30 minutes after switch. I'm certain the voting badge said 75%, but the flash sale badge now says 67% (even though the GOTY is indeed 75%). I'm only grabbing some DLC, which is 67% like it was during the recent daily, but that's weird, right? I don't remember a promoted deal % ending up differently, nor a flash % being worse than a daily.

As to libraries, seems most of the ones around here are moving to eBook rental, I mean they still have the physical books and all but feels more there for sake of tradition or something. Last time went to my cities one, it looked the same it did over 14-15 years ago.

GTA 4 was also more than it was advertised for on the vote (was supposed to be -80% but ended up -75%). Rather annoyed at devs for doing this, feels dishonest on their part.

 
Regarding CK2, all you need to do is spend an hour watching some tutorial video and your good to go. Im from Asia and I dont know much about European history but I enjoy CK2. I encounter tons of interesting stories(backstabbing relatives, incest, assassinating your heir/wife, etc) in this game than let say skyrim.

For me, its a plus that I didnt know too much about the history of the country that I pick as I can do anything instead of what should happen.

For those you have even a little interest in CK2, take the time to learn the game and I assure you It will be worth it, even if you end up dead at the hands of your daughter. In the game of course.

Worst Steam Sale evah!

My 'highlight' so far was State of Derpcay for $5 but: 1) It was fairly short; 2) unpolished; and 3) probably bound for the next Humble Bundle.  Other than that I picked up Far Cry 1 and a couple of the Old Hitman games which were hovering on my 'maybe' list for the last couple of sales -- break in case of emergency type of purchases.  Will possibly pick up Derphonored and I have a long time to think about it given 48 hours dailies and the fact it hasn't come up as a Flash yet (maybe that's when it'll glitch!).

A couple of other old Squeenix titles sitting on my 'emergency/boredom' list.  Also hoping for an MMX deal.  And Pinball FX, too.

Looks like the more recent user reviews say the community is dead / servers are empty. I'd say pass. Even though the MP will get a slight upswing because of the sale, the likelihood is that it will die down again.

Or buy it, and try to start a community revival. The game DOES look pretty fuck 'ing awesome.

just bought Bundlestars Aftershock bundle. Pretty awesome pack! The only game I had was SS2, and that will be a good gift for a friend. I wanted to complete the UFO collection... and REALLY wanted Harvester. That was a game I had back then and was very creepy, want to try it again. Plus, wizardry games are ALWAYS welcom!. Ascencion to the throne looks... bad. But +1
