This is really weird

UK Steam store already has the game region free. At least the current GOTY

Maybe it has something to do with keys VS Steam gifts

I've used VPN just one time to activate the NA key of Inversion and had no problems. Many people do the same and Steam doesn't care about using VPN unless it is used to bypass regional pricing and buying from a different region

EDIT: Was almost scammed by someone on the SteamTrades forum. Guy logged off after I gave him my key without completing the trade. Good thing I somehow logged into an alternate Steam account and quickly registered the game into that account (guess he was either very slow or thought there was no way I could retaliate after handing him the Steam key). Learned a valuable lesson in trusting people outside of CAG. :cry:

He has "SCAMMER" written all over him. New account, 5 cheap games, very few rep comments (propably from his friends) and 0 playtime. You should NEVER go first with keys with people like this :)

Its been a LONG time since someone have attempted to scam me. (Been trading at CAG so long that my defenses were down).

Fortunately, the guy was a noob scammer since he "should've" registered the game first before logging off. If I didn't try to check whether or not he registered my game, I would have posted the Steam key here in the CAG forum so a CAGer (or lurker) could take it.

Now its in my alternate Steam account, sitting there like a jerk. :hot:

Sounds like maybe he was switching accounts to activate the key on maybe.

Agreed. It possible that he has an alternate account that he "scams" with (in case Steam ever decides to trade ban him) but I was faster to the gun. (must be that adrenaline rush from having discovered a scammer)

Let this story be a reminder, don't be trusting/dumb like me :drool:

At least this time, it didn't end as bad as it could (though I was trying to setup a trade with someone who was kinda interested (but wavering) for a tiny frost skin).

EDIT: now I think about it, the guy is probably thinking that I'm trying to scam him since Steam will say "duplicate key" should he try to use the key now. :lol: (anyway its Postal 2 (a bad game) which I already have in my main Steam account and got the code for free after whoring myself to the developers by trying to get the game greenlit)

CAG is a great community, I have only gotten "scammed" when dealing with PS3 group buys, and that doesn't really count. Most of those were just people being ignorant anyway, and all got resolved with the help of other CAGs.
