You are sending to friend/family and are intended to know the recepient. Why would there be fraud is this scenario? Hence the lower fees (if any) and lower/no protection. When you use the merchant transfer with higher fees, you are protected more. Think of it as insurance.

Paypal offers no protection on purchases of digital goods. I lost $150 with proof that I sent the items because of this.

I'd just like to clarify that the "gift" option (which is now something like sending money to family) is entirely non-disputable. It's a gift, not a payment type; people only use it as such to lower the cost a little, because we are all very cheap. But it'll only work if you trust the seller, and the seller honors the exchange. If you use this option and something goes wrong, you have zero chance of getting your money back, but you can still get the person banned/IP-banned from this website so they don't screw over more people.

I have never disputed a digital purchase that was sent as payment due, so I don't know if you're protected there. But you certainly aren't protected by Paypal if you gift the money. Your best bet in that case would be to contact your bank directly, given that you're responsible enough to use your bank account for the gift in the first place (and not a credit card).

Back when I used to deal with PS3 gamesharing, this one guy bought a bunch of accounts from different people and then filed disputes will all of us and took his money back. Paypal sided with him and kept the money, though the guy claimed it was all a misunderstanding and eventually gave back my account after lots of pestering.

I had provided Paypal with the info that he had done this to multiple people all at the same time, and gave them correspondence where he admitted it was all a mistake and he's sorry, I guess they didn't care. Just saying, they did protect him.

Ah right I understand you. That's a bit of a shame really cos technically this means that not only has this scammer taken sharpeones money but also tarnished his reputation too all the while Sharpeone is being made to prove otherwise while the scammer seeming gets away with it.

I don't know if Sharpeone paid with gift/family option in PayPal but if he did, it's pretty much a lose-lose. I mean, what would constitute as evidence though in a situation like this (just for future reference)?

Yeah, the issue was taken care of by Pookymeister. After he was banned, his negative feedback towards me disappeared.

Thanks guys for thinking of me. It was my stupidity for even being on with just an hour's sleep. That teaches me to step away sometimes and don't worry about missing a few deals here and there :).

That doesn't contradict what I said, though I may have worded it incorrectly. In both our cases, we were the seller and got screwed over because Paypal does not accept any proof of delivery for digital goods.

I once purchased a website template from a business where I paid with Paypal. The template had bugs in it and they didn't want to fix anything. Paypal sided with them because of their Digital Goods argument....

From time to time u meet scammers, because trading outside of steam trade window is allways a bit risk and therefore its a big invite for scammers. But with communities like ours it gets a bit safer for all of us.

FAQ:
Q1.) Are these games games bought illegally through a VPN or a stolen credit card?
A1.) No. All steam gifts are supplied to me from an actual person living in Ukraine.

Q2.) Can I have X game for X price?
A2.) To know what my prices are, I will either explicitly post prices for games in my posts, or I will expect you to use the guide above to calculate it yourself. If you offer me a different price, I will not haggle with you. I will probably not respond. If my price is too high, get it from someone else.

Q3.) Is X game region-locked?
A3.) There are many games that are region-locked. I will not sell those to you. I will try to keep an updated list of region-locked games in my thread so that you know what they are. If there is a region-locked game that I have not listed in my thread, and you decide to buy it from me, I will check before obtaining it. I will then let you know that it is region-locked and will not sell it to you.

Q4.) When will I get my game? Why can't I have it right now?
A4.) After you pay for your order, I will send you your games by noon the next day. It is possible for me to get it to you earlier than that. I will gift the game to your steam email, or directly to you on steam. This wait time is necessary because I need to put in the order with my buddy in Ukraine, and need to wait for him to send it to me. If for some reason I take longer than expected, don't panic. I will get you your game.

Q5.) How come you are selling Steam keys that are in the region-locked list?
A5.) It is possible for a game to be region locked as a steam gift, but region free in key form. I occasionally sell keys for particular games. Anything i sell you will always be region-free.
