Those are all Steelbooks. The only current Metalpaks are the recently released ones at Target (the X-Men films, 300, Braveheart, etc.).

Metalpaks tend feel cheaper and lighter than Steelbooks and feel less...metally.

Well the Hunger Games ones are the same as the Hangover style ones and they all suck. Super cheap. Spider-Man and the imported Captain America ones I have feel sturdier and seem to have better material. I like the finished more and the paint doesn't flake/chip off.

What is the first Amazing Spiderman from Best Buy? How about the Hunger Games from Best Buy? I have those and they seem different. HG ones are practically identical to their batman ones and the mainline V for Vendetta, Hangovers, etc. that most stores got.

This post over at blu-ray.com has a good summary: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=70477. The major difference is the spine. Also, it's an old thread, so it's overly harsh on MetalPaks. Their quality has improved quite a bit (sturdier, more vibrant colors), whereas US Steelbooks seem to be trending the other way.

The WB series from Best Buy (hangover, dark knight etc) were a budget release and used a matte finish with no inside artwork. Hunger Games went the cheap route too. So you're right on that. Most SB collectors prefer the gloss finish of Spidey to the matte.
A lot of steelbooks have been matte lately unfortunately. And as stated here the metal packs have a really shitty spine design.
 
I saw one that had a super weird design when I was in a used store. I can't remember it was. If I go back, I'll update.

I tend to just use steelbook as the generic term for those cases, much like Kleenex is used for tissues. Casually, I don think it's a bad thing and everyday people not obsessed wht buying every single one released get what I mean better.

So is the Winter Soldier BR listing on BestBuy.com for the steelbook or will it be a steelbook once it gets fulfilled? People on the BR.com forum are saying that listing is for the steelbook and if that's the case I'm kinda pissed since I've seen that listing forever but assumed the steelbook would be clarified with its own listing or at least have it in the description or title.

There's different artwork on these. This is the 1999 one:

Both of these US releases are of poor quality with no inside art. I would suggest getting the Canadian version of the 1999 one or the Italian 10th anniversary.

Anyone know if 17.99 is the new price for the Noah steelbook blu-ray at bestbuy
 
Nice to see Target is continuing releasing the dc animated movies in steelbooks. Ill rather wait for the eventual release of the justice league war sequel with aquaman. Assault on Arkham seems more like a rental than a keeper imo.

I got my copy of Noah steelbook Blu-ray was thinking it was 3D too and also came with the 10$ movie money

Don't bother with the Target edition. Saw it over lunch. It's essentially thin pieces of 'wood' glued to cardboard slip. And the glue is pretty poor as most copies were peeling apart at the edges.
