Well, as suspected, the crazy inventory numbers at a pair of stores was pure bullshit. Commerce is showing 64 of the BH6 steel book but has none, and Anaheim is showing 200 but has none. The numbers somehow got mixed up with the regular blu combo.

So it's pretty much have to be there first thing in the morning still for Target, right? Didn't a lot of people have issues trying to preorder the Big Hero Steelbook online?

 Zavvi Wall-E steelbook. Looks like it's actually sold out this time but hopefully most people here in the US have the NA version, which I actually like more anyway. It's surprising they do such limited runs of these, though, considering they sell out within hours.

 
As of this post the BH6 Steelbook Targer exclusive is available online.  I was able to put my order in and get customer service to adjust the order to take out the shipping and $5 to match last week's sale price.  My store screwed up my in-store pick-up so I'm glad they still had more of these.

Damn. I wish I was able to post it sooner. I saw it up at 5am PST but had to take care of my daughter and get ready for work. Posted as soon as I got into the office. Hope some other CAGs were able to get an order in. After my store screwed up my order I messaged corporate a few days ago about if and when they will get more in stock. I'll post here with an update if I hear back from them.

If you pre-order it online, you end up paying a higher price than in-store, plus you take the chance that Target will do a piss-poor job with packaging it. Also, you can't PM it to in-store prices, since Target.com and Target B&M are two different entities.

Once it releases, the online price may match the in-store price, though likely not.

Since this was a "bigger" release than BH6, I think it may have more quantity on release day, though I would still suggest going morning of release and trying to get one in-store. If you pre-order one, you'll get one, though you may pay more for it in the long run.

Target automatically refunded me $5.XX for my online preorder. Not sure if their policy changed or if I just got lucky.

That would be a recent change, as I went through a long phone call with Target.com when JLA: BFA and Fury came out, as I knew I couldn't get to the store easily on that day. They wouldn't refund me the difference, so when I found them in-store, I returned the copies they sent me.

It is a recent change. Some - not all - preorder products now have a note that states: Pre-order this item now, and if the price drops before the release date, you'll pay the lower price.

In fact for Big Hero 6 I called to have my order adjusted down, then Target came back and refunded me the difference as part of the guarantee. I ended up with the steelbook for $15.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that on the steelbooks on Target.com and if that's the case, I'll order them online and save the issue with getting them in-store. Raises the issue of a possible dinger in shipment due to bad packaging, of course.

 
So as expected, I got a copy and paste response from Target Guest Services.  They did acknowledge the Big Hero 6 steelbook is a "popular" item right now but didn't give any info as far as stock.  They then told me to talk to my store manager.  So long as they fulfill the order I was able to get in when it went back in stock early yesterday I won't push things further.

Last time I did talk to a manager they were able to check what was coming on the next few shipments/trucks if y'all wanted to give that a try.  I also learned that brickseek can be inaccurate not necessarily just because of employee hoarding but also do to shoplifting.  This makes sense since the store close to me showing 8 in stock is in a city where I'd expect that.

Do you guys think there is going to be a Hunger Games - Mockingjay Pt 1 and 2 Steelbook or should I just pick up the Best Buy Part 1 Steelbook on Friday?

 
A combined Part 1 and Part 2? I doubt it. I can see them bringing back Part 1 when Part 2 comes out, like they did with Catching Fire did with Hunger Games though.

 
Or in the case of Hunger Games, make a steelbook when there wasn't one at time of release.

We might see a different one when Pt 2 comes out, just to double-dip us to death.

 
Thanks to whoever posted the brief window of time Big Hero steel went avaible online last week... my store did not get any on release... but was able to order in that lil window, just received last night ... very lucky no damage as shipped in a bubble mailer.
