Noticed Chappie blu is on sale again at Target this week. ($17.99) Value on steelbook version. I scanned a copy that was still at my local store.

This essentially matches the price at release with Cartwheel at the time, but for those who missed out at the time, it's a great deal.

If your Target has a ton of these you may want to wait for further sales as this shares the same Item Code with the regular release at Target so will match that price whenever it goes on sale. Wish most of the other Target steelbooks still did this.

I prefer the separate item codes, so if you order online they don't send you the wrong one. :wall:

Yeah, I also wish the codes were the same. I found a Target two weeks ago that still had copies of the American Sniper SB when the regular release was on sale for $12.49. Still rang up for $24.99. I couldn't justify paying ~2x more just for a fancy case.

Chappie's DPCI match though. American Snipers' do not.

I'm still debating the Mondo steelbooks at Target.  2 of the 3 look nice, but I also have 2 of the 3 movies already and $75 is steep for all of that.  I'm also still holding out a slim hope that some of these may actually make it into stores on sale at a slightly discounted price (like $19.99 each), though they are supposed to be online only.

The True Detective one is really nice, and I wanted that Flash Gordon one, so I ended up ordering the other 2 as well. I try not to re-buy movies just for a steelbook, and they were pricy, but I do love all 3 movies. It's probably a good thing for that they aren't releasing every one of them in the U.S.

I am pretty sure it's gone from my area as I didn't see it on the shelf at my local stores in northern VA. SBs go pretty quick...mostly by ebay resellers. Yeah let me know if anyone has one to trade.... I still have a spare Big Hero 6 SB (target) sealed or we can trade for money.

thanks
Do you still need one? My Target has some in stock.

"Steelbook Collectors' Sets" incoming for Game of Thrones: http://tvshowsondvd.com/news/Game-Thrones-Steelbook-Collectors-Sets/21269

GameOfThrones_SteelbookCollectorSets.jpg

Seasons 1 & 2 will be available 11/3 with $79.98 MSRPs.

That price is way too much. I spent like $15-30 a season, so $80 is a bit much to swallow. Doubt it'll have a big discount this year, since they're advertising it as a Christmas gift.

Shit I can't believe I'm going to double dip on TV seasons.
This would be a triple-dip for me on S1, as I sold my S1 BB exclusive set when the gift set with the dragon egg dropped to a cheap price. Rest would be a double-dip for me.

I wonder if they'll strip out the DVD copies like they have on S4, though they're being remixed with Dolby Atmos audio, so that's a reason for thinking about it, steelbooks aside.

I'd need bigger pictures of the steelbooks before making that jump, though who the fuck am I kidding, those are an instant buy.

holy shit! I need those GoT SBs
YOU PEOPLE are the reason they can price things like that this high. Cuz people will still buy it. :D

Guilty as charged. :speaktothehand:
I can't stay mad at you.

Also, the art on those covers being from the opening sequence of the show is about as epic as you can make it. This show and Suits are the only two shows where I watch the opening sequence for every episode.

And just so you know, MSRP on GOT S5 on Blu-Ray is $79.98 and those make their way down to $30-35 by time of release. My guess is that these will be higher though hopefully sub-$50 by time of release, if not sub-$40.

I watched the opening for Dexter every time too. All 8 seasons.

I doubt most people care about this, but those GoT steelbooks have different Blu-Rays. Apparently they have Dolby Atmos Audio, again, if anyone cares.

Gross, more overpriced steelbooks.  I love GoT as much as anybody but I think I'll be happy continuing to own the Best Buy exclusive cover house banner editions.  They are pretty cool too.  The last thing I have is an extra $200-300 to throw around during black friday season.

I've held off for every release so I guess patience paid off this time! I don't care about Atmos since I'm not upgrading my receiver any time soon but I'm loving the art.

If it's like the past steelbooks, it's likely to be non-3D at that price.
Yep, which blows. I ended up getting the Edge of Tomorrow steel at release then got the 3D version when it was on sale at Best Buy a month later. Really sucks having to double dip like that but if it's a good movie (or good steel) I kind of have to.

That's one I need to pick up the 3D disc for our grab the 3D version when it goes on the cheap, since the 3D in that movie was very good from what I remember.

That's one of a few I went with the 2D steelbook to get the 3D version some other time.

There's a 15% off Target Cartwheel offer for the Lords of Salem steelbook this week.

Edit: And Killing Them Softly, and Django Unchained. And 10% off Ghost Protocol metalpak.
