Yeah, what a great deal that was! Let's also keep in mind, though, that they were all NES games. Many of the top NES classics weren't included, beyond a well-hidden Super Mario Bros. and Punch-Out. Still, it was great to be able to fool around with Excitebike and some other shallow but pick-up-and-play games like that!
 
Ok... this Masterpieces idea is genius because I've wanted to demo a lot of VC games as I wasn't sure I wanted to buy them.

Geez, this game has more things to it than most RPGs do.

Well, I somehow I doubt that they would take remove it from the programming; however, that brings up the point of Fire Emblem since it was never released in the US, that will make them do a translation for it, so it would seem.

I just hope that means they'll be releasing Earthbound on the VC soon since there's little point in having a demo for a game you can't buy the full version of.

This masterpiece thing is the kind of addition that makes me believe the Famistu (whatever it is) perfect 10's. I thought there was a lot of stuff that makes this game great on the bare essentials of a fun filled multiplayer fighting game, but now we have demos, RPG elements in the sticker power ups, finishing moves, online mode, a lot of characters (more than I think we are expecting), a one player mode worth mentioning as it appears, and some other things that are going to make this game possibly defining the Wii in a new way instead of casual games. This update has been my favorite thus far and I hope the updates keep coming towards the US release date, even if the game is in Japan just to highlight some features daily.

I listen to CAGcast on my drive to school in the mornings. At best that's three times a week so I need more podcasts to fill the time because radio sucks. I found myself completely caught up on CAGcasts, CAGforeplay and the IGN podcasts. I decided to look for a Smash cast and ended up on the "Show Me Your Moves" podcast. Let me first go ahead and not recommend it. It's around 2 and a half hours on the latest updates. Sounds cool in concept but in reality it's extremely too long. I think spending 5 minutes introducing the show three time is too long. Two outros is one too many.
I bring this up because the guys on that show seem to be really GO for Bowser Jr. I'm not sure why everyone is going bonkers for a rather lame character from Sunshine. Especially when Koopa has 7 other cool kids. As random as BJ sounds apparantly a lot of people have him on their 'likely to appear' lists.
 
Bowser Jr. and WW Link and Ridley have bounced around for the better part of a year because some idiot at Gamefaqs wrote a story about them showing up because "Sakurai said it on the radio in Japan."

I will be astounded if both of them make it into the game. Much like yourself, I think Bowser Jr. is a lame character and shouldn't be included. WW Link doesn't belong either. As much as I love the aesthetic of him, how much different could he possibly be over Link (TP)? Every Link in every Zelda game is pretty much the same, unless you included Majora's Mask, which WOULD be awesome, because he could transform into different characters, all with different skills.

I'm still going to call it fake until I see it confirmed elsewhere.

I mean, come on. Black Shadow from F-Zero?

Please.
 
Bowser Jr would make a pretty funny Assist Trophy, IMO.
Ridley would make for an AWESOME Assist Trophy. Not my opinion because it's TRUE.

You know if Young Link were to be in this game again.. I'd like to see him in form of WW/PH. I just think it would look cool, that's really it. I don't even play as Link, so yeah it really doesn't matter :lol:

I'm going to be very positive that we get a decent amount of "Masterpieces" too. Including games like Earthbound & Fire Emblem. Hey, they have the "Import" genre on the VC for a reason!..Wouldn't it be awesome if it included a demo of Smash Bros 64? In fact, wouldn't it be even BETTER if it INCLUDED Smash Bros 64?? Oh yes, yes it would.

I think I have a bone to pick with Sakuri.

Peach's Final Smash IS pretty awesome, IMO. It'll come in handy in certain stages, no doubt. But.. here's what I just thought of.

What about Jigglypuff? Wouldn't this FS be better for her? I mean.. all she has to do is Sing and everyone falls asleep. I think that'd fit PERFECT.. not so much Peach showing off some ballet moves :lol:

I'd RATHER have the army of Toads.. or the RAGE from Super Princess Peach...but I digress. Now I hope Jiggly's FS is awesome.

Basically, I am bored and want to talk about the game. C'mon. Someone talk about it :lol: :cry:

I'll talk (while playing NMH) . Ya know when that last delay came, I thought I'd be okay with it, but around the time that we found out Ness was in it, I started getting really pissed off at every new update because "I should already have this game and have everything unlocked!" But, the thought that we'll get an Earthbound demo that has to ultimately get the game on the VC makes me feel better about it.

I want to know what Ness's FS will be. PK Rockin'? Psychodelic colors flash on the screen (and makes kids have seizures)?

I also wonder what Jigglypuff's FS is gonna be, what does she do other than sing, seriously?

I also can't wait to try out Pit, Metaknight, and Lucas.
 
1)i havent been up to date with this whole SSBB thing as much as u guys but the character selection screen looks too fake. some of the images look like they went to google the characters in and just cropped out a square. and thereslike a question mark going across the screen too.

2)so how do people get so good at this game? my friend killed me with jigglypuff in SSBM

any tips?

3) what character are you going to try to specialize in? since i have no clue about the strengths and weaknesses id say alot of people will choose meta knight. i myself want to use king dede cause it looks like the most fun

It was just plain lazy. Some characters have SSBB models, while others have artwork from their games? C'mon.

Some people are crazy and play this game hours on hours. Don't ask me why. My suggestion would be to just simply get to know your character, their moves, and their delays. It doesn't require to play hours on end, just get to know your character.

I usually play as Link, but I like to vary some with Mario as well. Some of the new characters have caught my interest, such as Olimar, Pit, and Meta Knight, so we'll have to see.

It would seem the answer was timed demos for games on the Virtual Console. Are there any characters in Brawl for which there isnt a VC game available?

The only one that comes to mind is the NES Metal Gear.

Earthbound/Mother series is currently not on the VC.

And since it seems that NoA hates all that is good in the world, it appears that it's going to stay that way for a while.

I would say a First Person Shooter Mode, except for the fact that Snakes Final Smash, and the Kirby's Air Ride item are just FPS overlays for the fighting engine.

I would love to see the return of the original Koopa kids. I know it wouldn't happen, but they could always just throw in a platelet swap making all seven the same character, maybe with one special move different a piece. Throw in a final smash that calls on all seven to attack the players randomly at the same time on screen and I'm sold. We'll never see them as individual characters, so that would seem to be the best way.

Not impossible, they did make there way into Mario & Luigi 2 for DS

I heard to read about that.. then I started playing with him and once I started using Pound. The Puff is just sweet. One thing that actually did help me up my game was the Marth FAQ. Probably one of the best written character FAQs out there. Back when I played Smash I was about as good as you can get in a 1player sense. What I need is an opponent. If you have that you're half-way there.

I probably won't specialize in anyone new. I know I said that with Melee and then switched from Pikachu to Marth. Aside from Pit noone else really draws me by description only.

I've got a nice big backlog, with Zack & Wiki, Endless Ocean (pending in), and possibly No More Heroes to keep me going, then will have Ace Attorney 4 in February. Hope to have that finished in time to bask in the glory of the $50 concentrated awesome stamped onto a DVD that is Smash Bros.

Edit: Soccer ball for the win baby.. soccerball. If i was taking the first videos of Brawl I'd be lot less concerned about winning and more concerned about showing off the coolness. I'm seeing way too many ATs not even reached for.
