Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2

wreck it ralph was excellent. They didn't really have too many video games in there but it was still great. The characters were cute as hell and the story was pretty nice. Looking forward to owning it on blu ray. That short film, "paper man", is probably my favorite short. So good! I was very pleased with this movie going experience.

Skyfall
Beautiful film but walked out slightly disappointed. Think they pushed the "retirement" stuff too much and lack of a serious Bond Girl.

Wreck-It Ralph
Skyfall
Elite Squad: The Enemy Within- The director of this is doing the new robocop, which I am more interested in now.

Io non ho paura (I'm Not Scared): It wasn't a thriller like Comcast made it out to be but it was a good movie. Italian audio with English subtitles.

Wreck-it Ralph: One of the best animated films I have seen in a long time. Definitely worth the theater admission prices.

Let Me In: Not too bad. Was happy to see the bullies get exactly what they deserved.

Finally saw Skyfall, was a little disappointed after all the hype.

Here's some random thoughts.

- Opening was good, nice setup of what to come.
- The fact Bond was shot was weird, surely he could of heard the whole conversation about Eve having a clear shot?
- The plot with the agent list has been done many times before (not exactly a bad thing) however nothing happened with it. After half way through it was hardly mentioned ever again.
- Silva looked the part but a fairly weak villain, he has all this power, a completely unmarked underground terrorist group with amazing hacking skills yet he goes about killing M so stupidly.
- I'm not super into Bond films, but some may be disappointed with the "Bond" girl. Nothing memorable here.
- While I liked the "Skyfall" Scotland house scene, it did seem a little like Home Alone in places and a bit out there.
- The new Q seems a little annoying. He's apparently one of only six people that can hack a certain system. So he's shit hot right? Nope as he lets Silva hack MI6s system and release himself so easily.

- I like the amount of London in this film, thought it was quite nice. Would have preferred more of China didn't really seem that needed really.
- The cinematography was easily the best thing in the film nice job by Deakins here.
- Some good music here and there.

I watched Casino Royale a few days ago, when I heard that Skyfall was playing in the cinema. I'm not a big fan of Bond movies, but that movie was awesome. Always something going on and a great story.

Totally going to watch Quantum of Solace and then wait for Skyfall on DVD.
Moonrise Kingdom.

Not Wes Anderson's best, but still pretty good.
Best way I can describe that movie is 'delightfully inappropriate' lol.

Skyfall

Was never a fan of Daniel Craig as Bond but Javier Bardem as villain was brilliant although I do wish there was more backstory on his involvement in MI6.
40% of that movie is Bond playing poker
Well, you can't blame it for false advertising.

21 Jump Street was just ok. I went in blind and after the first 15 minutes I almost stopped watching. It does have its moments, but overall I don't understand the high praise from critics. Far consistently funnier movies in the same vein but I will concede the driver's ed car scene had me rolling.
40% of that movie is Bond playing poker
Not really. They showed them actually playing poker for maybe 15 minutes. Casino Royale is pretty much the perfect Bond movie. Action, chases, cars, girls, double cross, twists, torture, etc. What does it lack?

Watched The Amazing Spider-man again with the girlfriend. Still like it more than Raimi's versions. Looking forward to the sequel.

Agree on Casino Royale, but I'm not a huge Bond fan and only own the Craig ones so I can get why some Bond fans might not like the current iterations. Still need to see Skyfall.

Agree on Spider-Man. It makes me want to have the old trilogy wiped from my memory. I don't love the Lizard himself, and we're going to have to go through the Green Goblin shit again, but I thought they completely nailed Spider-Man as the character I remember growing up.

Also, the Death of Gwen Stacey story should make for a great movie. If they approach it all right they could get 5 really strong, not monotonous sequels out of this.

End of Watch

I quite liked it, a little slow in places (my girlfriend got a little bored) but I enjoyed it. I read online people complaining about the camera work, however I feel without this cinematography style the film just wouldn't work - it needs the shaky cam etc

Holy Motors- It's fun and interesting. I've had a day to think about it and I don't think there is any specific underlying message to the film. I was wondering if it was going to somehow hit me after the movie like say El Topo did (that movie messed with my emotions starting like 15 minutes after the movie ended. Never did I go through a mixture of laughs, sadness, joy and something in between). So I think Holy Motors is just there to be weird and out there. I did notice I was enjoying the sound effects during quiet moments. They just massaged my ear drum the right way. Main actor was superb objectively speaking.

If you do like it check out "Tokyo!" (2008). It features the green leprechaun character and then there is this awesome movie about a girl that turns into a chair. It's a collection of 3 shorter films. I liked it more than Holy Motors.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter = had already read the book so I knew not to take the movie seriously. It was a pretty good movie. Sure there was some "not-believable" CG
especially the horse stampede scene, lol
, but overall, it was a good buy for $15 (bought the 3D version but I didn't get a chance to try out the 3D). I'm still kind of mad they didn't
go with the same end the book did. It was the perfect way to end the book/movie.

3/5

The Raven= didn't get a chance to see this one in theaters so I was waiting for it to come out in bluray. Loved John Cusack as Poe. Thought he nailed the way I perceived Edgar Allan Poe was like. Like the mystery story they wrapped around his poems/books.

3/5

Watched Prometheus, and the only other movie I saw in the franchise was Alien. Just as terrifying though I didn't think they really NEEDED a live giant, unless there's going to be further stories in the franchise right? The corpses would've been enough, especially since it's all about the facehuggers. I would've been fine with Robot David as the real villain of the story, but now I want to see more of Shaw's adventure throughout the stars.

I don't know what any of these words mean.

I just watched Prometheus finally myself.

I thought it was ok. There were some things left on the cutting room floor I'm sure, but the biggest question I have is why the engineers would've created us and then changed their mind and wanted to kill us. Hopefully their motivations become clearer in the next movie. I know there was a guy in the official Prometheus thread saying this film went against canon, but then cited the comics and AvP of all things.

^How does Prometheus break canon?
I didn't like Alien because it wasn't 100% like Prometheus.
As long as nobody wants another Aliens we're good.

I'm guilty of not seeing any movie in the Alien franchise. I don't consider Prometheus to be part of it. Did enjoy it, though some parts felt rushed or didn't get the emotional response they were trying to get out of me. I think somebody on this board said there is no Director's Cut coming which is a shame. Maybe they were wrong.

Here's one post. There's much more, but you can read the official thread here.
Now to your point of trying to explain things....no. None of those things are true. That is what I hate about this movie....it deliberately goes against all of the canon of the franchise. Space Jockey ARE NOT HUMANOIDS...period. They state in the original movie that those were bones and in the Predator universe there were always humans with nothing supporting that Space Jockeys pre-date Predators. Since they have been using earth since they found it. They did not create fucking xenomorphs they were the first victims of xenomorphs. It was already explained in other canon forms of media. The pyramid in AvP is actually a Jockey pyramid and they are ones who sacrificed themselves to them.
I can't get upset about something contradicting AvP because AvP was fucking godawful.
And it's a joke if anyone considers it canon.

The last two movies I watched that I liked were The Descent, which is a horror movie that I personally thought was awesome, and also an indie type romantic/relationship movie called "Like Crazy" which I also would have to give top grades to. Both are on Netflix and if you like horror movies and romantic type movies are both stellar.

Scott said he wasn't doing one.

The blu ray extras disc has deleted scenes. Most of them would improve the flow of the movie a bit, but none of them are ground breaking or change anything major/add any new info. They would just flesh out some character motivation better etc.

Of course, maybe there's more stuff on the cutting room floor they could add back if he changes his mind.

Prometheus is definitely a part of it.

And watch Alien ASAP. You're missing out on a truly great film.

It's funny how bad AvP was since the book was pretty good. They made a lot of mistakes though in the rewrite. It wasn't on earth, the main character was a Japanese girl with martial arts training, and she and the predator she was stuck with bonded a lot. It focused mainly on her with little other humans and very little wayland yulani.

Aren't you fancy with your blu ray

Caught Wreck-It Ralph 3D. This didn't quite hit the emotional jugular that I think they were aiming for, nor were there many funny moments, but I still got on board with Ralph's journey. It didn't suck.

There was a noticeable shift from the guy movie in the beginning, to when Ralph meets Venellope. Wished they kept the freshness of the first part throughout, but I suppose Disney girl power had to be factored in.

The 3D definitely helps pull you into the game worlds. I can't imagine watching this in plain 2D. I'll be adding this to my 3D blu-ray collection.

Contraband was ok. It was borderline over the top way too much though. But the intensity was very high, so it wasn't bad as an edge of your seat action flick.
