I know that some companys like EA can do some pretty stuck up things to piss people off, but lately I've noticed Tecmo and team ninja seems to be full of themselves. Yeah Ninja Gaiden was amazing and they should get credit for it, but I remember the head of team ninja bragging about how great DOA games are. Yeah its fun and looks pretty good, but after all is said and done, they took the Virtua Fighter system and stripped it down to be more button masher friendly.

Every Tecmo game has that ridiculous warning every start up and it forces you to watch the team ninja intro on DOA4. I got the game for 5 bucks so I guess I'll live with it.

UPDATE: Another point is the fact that all these doa, ng and XTVB games, you cant copy or move the save files, which is BS since My friend wanted to play the NG black arcade bonus game and we cant since im not lugging over my freaking system instead of the memory card.
While I was out drinking at some bar, this Japanese guy comes wading through the crowd up to me, and he says, "You're Itagaki-san, aren't you?" Pretty outgoing for a Japanese guy, wouldn't you say? Anyway, so I say, "Yes, I am. Who the hell are you?" Yeah, there were two of them there then. I remember. I have a great memory [laughs].

So, he says, "I am the director of Devil May Cry 3; pleased to meet you!" and I said, "Pleased about what, dumbass!"
brilliant

Never really cared for Tecmo and I think Ninja Gaiden is extremely overrated.

DOA4 is fun and the Casino in DOAXBV is awesome, though.

I wouldn't say Tecmo, just Team Ninja but they have always been like that.

I don't care if they are cocks, I just want good games, which I think they make. Sometimes not great, but definitely good enough to play; at least for me.

Its a load screen. Try playing the game after sitting through it once without swapping more than 3 games. you should be able to bypass it no problem.

haven't played any of the DoA games past DoA1, eh? :p

Ninja Gaiden is the entire reason i bought an X box. As long as they tell me they'll make another one, i couldnt care less how they act

i think DoA sucks balls compared to its namco counterparts

I would go so far as to say Itagaki is the one with the rock star mentality and attitude, not necessarily the entirety of Team Ninja. I mean, come on, look at the guy:

Tecmo's not stuck up, but Itagaki definitely is. And really, I loved Ninja Gaiden and if he can make a sequel on the same level as the first game, then he can be as much of a prick as he wants to be. I don't really care about the developers' attitudes -- I care about the final product and Team Ninja has delivered pretty consistently.
Exactly... I don't think Team Ninja has delivered a shitty game, they all score relatively high and are well liked.
um Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball?
um Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball?
The game certainly didn't score poorly by any means, with most scores (51.5% of them) being between 7.0 and 8.9. There were some definite outliers which hurt its gamerankings score, but that's to be expected with a game built primarily around sex. It's not the greatest game ever, but I found it to be pretty enjoyable.

Personally, I think Itagaki's comments are more funny than offensive, though he crosses the line from time to time; sometimes he comes across as being stuck up when he attacks another company's games, but he also shows a good deal of humility when listening to his fans about his work.

That game was one of the reasons why I bought an Xbox (the other reason was Steel Battalion). I loved DOAXB because it was so blatantly sexual and went over the top with it. Definitely unlike anything ever released in the US.

But in a tasteful way, not like BMX XXX.:)

Itagaki is an asshole in that he claims that no video games before his inspired him to do what he does. He's so full of shit, it's unreal.

Same here. It got the most playtime from me on the xbox, even with all my other games combined. I have yet to find a game that has the same experience in such a tastefull matter. Got a 360 this time mainly for DoAX2.
Is Ninja Gaiden BC for the 360?
hey, if Kendal plays NG, then this thread actually served a purpose other than whining about some guy we don't know.

I agree, I actually think DOAXBV is the best Team Ninja game out. I just recently (past couple of weeks) played through Ninja Gaiden: Black, and while it's a fun game I think it falls just short of its two closest competitors (DMC3:SE and God of War).

Compare Itagaki's (sp?) interviews with David Jaffe's and see who comes across as someone you'd want to support with your $$.

Out of tekken, virtua fighter, dead or alive. I prefer dead or alive however Itagaki is a complete bitch. WOOT Stuck up proud bitch. IMO why would you be proud of creating only 2 main games and making sequels on that? He acts like hes the best. The only one who deserves it is Miyamoto and he seems to be down to earth even though he is not paid enough by nintendo reciving only 50k a year in japan. :D

I'm sure he receives some kind of bonuses or stock options. My sister's base pay is only 50K, but it goes about 5x that after all her stuff kicks in :p

He would be the 2nd highest-paid guy in company if he wanted to, but he doesn't want that much money. So humble.

Personally I wish Miyamoto would shock us and put MORE of his culture into his games. Granted I guess one could argue Zelda is neutral territory but that isn't to say he doesn't PISS me off after I realized the Dragon boat from Zelda was the ONLY thing of Asian culture he ever included in one of his games to my knowledge.

Let's be honest.

The man is set for life. I'm sure if he wanted anything Nintendo would have no problem giving him whatever he wanted.

He doesn't need a giant paycheck.

truthfully, because of the fact the DOA (NG included)) is the main reason Tecmo is around, he can prettyy much say what he wants. I really don't think he's that stuck up, just telling his true opinion about other games.

1UP: What did you think of Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4)?

TI: That looked really fun on the surface, but when I actually played it I was surprised. Why does the guy have to stop and stand there every time he wants to shoot his pistol? I just don't get it. Now, if they made it so that he could shoot much more accurately when stopped, that would be one thing. They must not have ever fired a real gun. It's not true to reality. Even if I were to take reality out of the equation, I still can't get myself worked up over a game where the fundamental game mechanic just doesn't feel right.

1UP: Please clarify.

TI: You know, in reality no one stops to shoot. It makes no sense to me that you'd stop. You shoot while you're in motion. Of course when you stop you can be more accurate, but it's not realistic.

*smh*
*smh*
?

Actually, from what I've seen in real life gun fights, people only shoot while moving when fleeing. If a person can get a clear accurate shot off, he or she stands still and takes the shot. Itagaki... *sigh* I see where he's coming from though.

Where is the rest of this interview?

Team Ninja is more than just one man, so with that said, I approve of their games and have enjoyed all of them, especially Ninja Gaiden. Itagaki is a character and knows what he's doing with this persona I guess. Same kind of goes with Cliffy B when he used to try and dress cool and hang out at cool parties with the 'in' crowd of entertainment. Just keep bringing the games, that's all I want.

I would like to know what Itakagi thinks of Virtua Fighter. Hopefully nothing bad considering his fighting game seemed to be a clone of VF
DOA used the VF 2 engine, so he couldn't say anything bad about it.
I think that him and Yu Suzuki are friends actually. I've heard him give VF it's props though.

yeah, that too. But he has stated that the VF engine was used for DOA1, and on top of that DOA ran on model 3. I know DOA2 ran on naomi, but DOA2 definately was better than VF3 and they had nothing in common.
