Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Reported Trade-In Prices

Trade-In Price Wiki
yeah rockband is really the only game that i've been flipping from gs back to blockbuster. Only 2 copies flipped so far and I think i'm done with the following prizes from 2 week of not too active flipping:
At least you have found 2 copies of Rock Band. There's only 1 around me... The other 2-4 are like 10 miles+ away. It sucks.

I loved the 360 coupon. I went from $40 in BB credit to $100BB/$100GS credit with it. I've only gained about $50-60 in credit with this coupon >_
You ought to pick it up. I saw the video during the Microsoft Press Conference and the live demo on G4's XPlay, and it looked like a hell of a lot of fun. Over 100 hours of gameplay, with the ability to actively build your own weapons. Todd Howard was shooting a rocket launcher full of lunch boxes and teddy bears! Not to mention, it's kind of like Soldier of Fortune, in that you can commit these gruesome acts of violence that rip limbs and heads from your enemies. There's even a mini nuclear bomb launcher. That sold me right there! I'll definitely be buying this game. :D
What a bitch, after the GS guy convince the hell out of me that Fallout 3 would be significantly better on the PS3, shit like thsi happens the day of, microsoft you f*cking bitches...

http://kotaku.com/5024977/fallout-3-getting-exclusive-downloadable-content-for-xbox-360-and-pc

And Todd Howard confirms its not coming to PS3, what a kick in the groin reading that was, plus FF13, but I wont go there. I may change my preorder tomorrow.

Also the preorder gift for fallout is pretty nice, the soundtrack and poster, not so much the poster, but the soundtrack is in a cardboard sleeve that is made to look like and old 45rpm record and the cd itself is printed to look like one. I can post a pic if anyone wants, one of the better preorder gifts I've gotten.

Also nobody answered this from my last post, but it may have gotten lost in it...

If i preorder Mirror's Edge for the bag, get the bag and game on release day, can i return the sealed game a few days later and keep the bag? Also I've been looking at that blue psp online, I'm glad I ordered it, Fallout 3 + a blue psp bundle for an initial $35 investment aint bad, after that I'll be very short if not out of GS credit. So I may have to flip again.

Would you mind posting that picture? I've already preordered The Force Unleashed and I was on the fence about Mirror Edge (mainly because I could always use a bag for something), but Fallout 3 is now a definite preorder must.

Can anyone confirm the TIV for Eye of Judgement (game only) at Gamestop and/or Blockbuster. I would like to go pick up a few games form the BOGO sale but dont really have a bunch of cash right now. Thanks.

Eye of Judgement get 30$ @ blockbuster. Walmart has it onsale for 30$ with the eye toy and everything. And you can keep everything and trade in the game itself. Or use the GS 25% off coupon to get it @ gs and trade in @ BBV for profit. But I have heard Eye of judgemennt trade in is YMMV @ BBV because some said it won't scan. Good luck.

time crisis 4 - $30 TIV at BBV stuck :whistle2:D

hey if anyone by chance has an extra of Mario Power Tennis for GC and would be willing to trade for something...It turns out the one I bought at a BBV didn't have the disc in it :(

and i've traded in 2 eye of judgements now and they scan just fine...odd...and last time I checked, it got $36..and that was today

Thanks. I guess it is worth a shot. Cant hurt. If I can get the TIV I can pick up 4 games. Sounds good to me. Thanks again.

Eye of Judgment is confirmed $36, I traded one into BB today and I know I must be the fiftieth person to confirm but Viking did drop to $23 trade at BB. Also R6V2 dropped to $30 trade at BB.

heh I like getting EOJ just the game on amazon for like 14.50(including shipping), got two lol.... but thats all they had. same with fatal inertia, got two of those for like 14 with shipping. no fatal inertia's in my area and didn't feel like hunting for EOJ's in my area.

EOJ are a plenty in my area, but I chose to trade in 2 ps3 games I haven't traded much, plus I cant find Rock Band. The closest one I can find is in Anaheim, weak.

edit: I'm looking at the preorder gifts online, the Mercenaries isn't bad. A beanie and a book.

No apologies required my good man. Quite a droll worthy assortment of goodies you've got there. I've already fallen in love with the vinyl soundtrack. Very well done but the poster is indeed ugly as sin.

yeah I was really hoping it was going to be a horizontal poster of the original trailer shot, with the guys head turned towards you, that would've been great. Or a Vaultboy poster would have been better as well. I'm always let down by the preorder posters, GTAIVs was crappy as well.

man I would have loved either of those over that one.

I've asked this a few times but may have gotten lost in the void, maybe a single post will do it.

If i preorder Mirror's Edge for the bag, get the bag and game on release day, can i return the sealed game a few days later and keep the bag?

I don't believe so, sealed might make it possible but if it is open and new then no.

I don't see any reason why not if you return the game to a different GS a few days after its release. How are they going to determine a preorder copy from a regular one if you hadn't made the preorder request at that location? Hell in order to even change a preordered game to a different system you have to do it at the same GS that you requested in.

Could anyone tell me how much a used copy of Gears of War is at BB?

But I dont see why I cant just return it to the store I got it at, since its a "preorder GIFT", right? I dont want to ask them at GS, but I might change my preorder to the 360 since the exclusive DLC was announced for 360/pc.

BB not GS! We're not that stupid!

Hey found another game on my shelf that could possibly get me some TIV. Does anyone have any idea what PGR4 would net? Thanks. After looking over about 50 pages of this thread I need to go check out the Blockbusters by me to see if they have some of these games.
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=39213
Good thing he said BB... I would take a guess of somewhere near $40. I've never seen one for sale used though.

Your nearest Blockbuster does. Little invention called a telephone and a phone line is all you need.

I have, but i cant remember the price. I still say if you got $20 BB credit pick up Bioshock if you haven't already. I've only played 1-2 hours and i'm lovin' it.
My GS lost all of its Gamedays HP games....and somehow they've gained about 10 used copies of the game....=/
Oh really, I didn't notice the 30 new used copies that got traded in the past few days, also DJ: Icon, but what a waster of shelf space.

Wow I feel like an idoit. Sorry I am stupid, I have been up since 6am this morning. When I looked for some reason I saw GS instead of BB.

Anyways, TiV for it is $22. (Traded in couple days ago, went back and saw it on the shelf) I think it was $45-50ish.

are any of these preorder things related to bbv? or is it all gamestop preorders... cuz if its gs, they should be in another thread. there's just too much non-bbv posts

Thanks guys. I've already got Bioshock on my list considering the fact everyone I know has nothing bad to say about the game and $20 is right up my alley. I spoiled myself silly with Gears gameplay on YouTube months ago but can't recall seeing one copy of it at Blockbuster. My original goal was to purchase everything on my hit list without spending any out of pocket, but if Gears is over $40 new or used I can deal with a $2 - $6 out of pocket expense for my MGS4 bundle.
My GS lost all of its Gamedays HP games....and somehow they've gained about 10 used copies of the game....=/
It sucks man. I walked into my GS to buy C&C3, but they got rid of the gamedays sale. They must have taken it down Sunday night or something. I needed C&C3 so I could trade it in back to them and make my amount of games I'm trading in even.

Does anyone know a game that I can buy from GS and trade back in at no loss or very little loss?

On another note... I got hit with 2 $1 refurb fees today. My initial reaction was wtf because the guy that gave me the refurb fee is usually the cool employee. Oh well. $2 down. Gave him a pre-order too. Can't wait for SCIV. Hopefully I'll have Ninja Gaiden II completed on Master Ninja.

I wasn't trying to be mean, just sarcastic, I was at work today at 4:30am, and again tomorrow, so i feel your pain. So BB is selling GOW for $45+ when the msrp is now $40, what a rip.

I think they're are a GS thing, but I posted them here since I know all of you have substantial GS credit and maybe want to get in cahoots with a certain GS, idk. By getting and talking about the pre-orders i've made friends with a GS and have had no complaints from trade ins.

It should be updated in the first and second post that all Gameday items have been converted to used items. I thought I got lucky when i got to a GS and they had Harry Potter still in the Gamedays bin, but when they scanned it they said they don't have anymore, and they were converted to used. Additionally, the same goes for Def Jam.

The Trade-In-Values for the PS3 games should be updated as well. From what I've gathered, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Condemned 2 have dropped?
Your nearest Blockbuster does. Little invention called a telephone and a phone line is all you need.
Sorry never traded anything into Blockbuster ever. I know Gamestop and FYE are anal about telling TIV over the phone. Didn't know that Blockbuster was willing to do so.

It's cool. Just too many people ask for TIVs in this thread. Every page there's someone who is unwilling to call, but willing to leech off of everyone's info.
hmm eye of judgment isn't showing up online on Gamestop.com? how many people have been rejected with the trade?
I haven't yet, only 2 times though. besides the cover where it sys, comes with camera, si there any other way of knowing? If not, than it shouldn't bee that ymmv since most BB employees are sort of slow when it comes to games. Maybe go to a BB without a GR too.
In late 2004/early 2005, I noticed that Blockbuster had a B2G1 and also Trade3GetPreowned for $10. I quickly noticed that I could spend $23 on 6 cheap games, trade them in and get 2 expensive games for maybe $2 out of pocket, trade them in and get an expensive game +$50 in credit. I instantly did this to purchase the game I wanted (Star Wars Episode 3) for -$25. I then repeated this buying countless SWE3 and NBA Ballers over the next several weeks.

Being proud of my acomplishments, I did a google search and found this forum. I then learned how to convert my thousands in BBV credit to Gamestop Credit and preordered 5 XBOX 360's in the early Spring. Come launch, I sold 4 of those XBOX's for an average of $700 each and kept one for free.

While it is true in the last year the art of flipping has becoming closely associated with you, ie to some, flipping is synonimous with "kunai," using it as both a verb and a noun, some of us have been at it for longer.

I can still remember hearing about some guy driving a van across Canada with thousands in credit....
I remember the deal being Trade 3 Get any pre-owned for $5. I posted this on the deal discussions and bragging rights, but here goes:

Star Wars Episode 3
Doom 3
Forza
Gran Turismo 4
Unreal Tournament 2: the Liandri Conflict
NBA Street V3
Jade Empire
and a whole lot more :D
I made a small flip/purchase today at BB/GS. I started with $265 Gs credit $0 BB. I got time crisis and Kane and Lynch, two of the few games I've yet to flip. The guy at GS, who is usually a dick said that it was the last time I could use the ps3 coupon, whatever, like I care what you say. Too bad the GS .2 miles down the road loves me. I then went 1/2 mile down the road to a Bb that is so f*ckin stupid when it comes to games, I give them a break since they dont have a GR and are very limited. All the games are mispriced, but I cleaned that one out of what little it had. I could tell no cags had been there, because there were no Beowulfs, Condemned, SST,History channel, PES, or anything flippable, just the ones I traded in a few days earlier. It was just their old rentals. I got what was left, 4 14.99 and 2 9.99 games, spiderman was one. All priced at 14.99 and above.

The I took them to the GS thats pretty tight with me. I brought in the 6 games and the guy that recognized me said, more games. I said yeah... It was a lot of credit, more than expected, although I'm used to 6-8 refurb fees. I tlked to the 2 guys working there for a while, about upcoming games and the 360 drop and leak on GS.com They got a memo the morning that GS was putting the 60gb model for preorder. They also just got some memo about an after hours thing for Gears, I dont know. They had no idea, they just got it. It said it aws some exclusive video and blah blah, no early play of the game like the guy was hoping as he read it. The mexican guy, like you know, was just Fallout crazy, he predordered 2 special editions, so that should say it all. I preforderd fallout, PS3, they guy was really convinced the ps3 version was way better then the 360 one. I also preordered Mirror's edge, for the bag.

As a question, can I buy the game and pick up the bag on release day, but then return the game sealed, and keep the bag? He also said I'd get a bobblehead for Fallout, that I like. I also reserved the blue psp bundle, I asked what the tiv on madded 09 would be and he said like 25-30 on release day. He convinced me to predorder it after I said I like the blue color, he sai no silkscreen on the back ( big + there) and to just trade in madden and keep the 1gb mem card. So I think I will. Thats pretty much what I've been flipping for, a big market item, like a console or a psp.

So right now after 2 $5 reserves, and a $25 reserve for the psp (lowest I could get) and a GC mem card ($10) I'm at $237 GS and $16 BB. It'll probably stay that way for a while since I think I'm done with flipping for a while. At least until the next big thing drops, b2g1 or whatever. Thanks again for the help in this thread, i would have never known to avoid x-men and go for spiderman if it weren't for the thread. Just please take it easy on the flipping, I know for a fact that 4 GS and 2 BB are on to it, they just cant stop it, ATM!
Which GS and BB are aware?

You should go and check. Many places are starting to put them as used, some slower than others, so your local GS might still have them out.

Too lazy to read back more than one page...

just a confirmation that the B1G1 does go through the 21st. Also, X360-Soldier of Fortune dropped to 14.99 used at BBV. It gets $7 at GS.

edit- there's also a X360-Tony Hawk game that just dropped to 14.99 that also gets $7 at GS. Just can't remember which Tony Hawk it was.
Which GS and BB are aware?
I gotta check my receipts, I put some notes on them. I avoid those. The main one being the Alton/Culver BB, they are definitely on to it, more than any other place, GS or BB. The only GS that has inquired about flipping straigforward I never go to, i think it was in santa ana, I only went there once with a lot of games. I could tell the other ones I mentioned were aware because the way they took the games/spoke when trading in the BB games. One guy at GS even asked , "so whats the tiv for this." I just played dumb and said, "what you mean here, why would I trade it back here, I just bought it." He just said nevermind, but I knew what he was implying, since I was buying EOJ without a camera and inquired about rock band ps3, game only. I also was buying Harry potter and for the second time in the past few days condemned. I also bought a condemned for the 360 from the same clerk, not sure he remembered that though.

I'm just saying try and watch out for it, I'm sure all GS have an idea of whats going on, they gotta be stupid not too, but what can they do if they dont see you buy them at BB and follow you into the GS. Idf you own them they're legit and you can trade them, so I dont see the issue with any GSs, its the BB I'm worried about, they are getting really uptight lately. I'd just hate to see this end because some people got greedy and continue to mega-flip without regard. We already have some price drops, probably due to well way too many on hand, aka flips. And probably more to come. I also have seen a ban on a game due to a flipper, I recall my RSV2 incident, where it seems only the store where that one flipper went to banned the game for trade in, since a lot of you had success with it in other areas. I'd say its better to just avoid certain employees, I know when the two guys at my fav GS work so thats when I go now, mondays and tuesdays. But I'll have to have a long talk with him about making me preorder fallout for the ps3 instead of the 360, with the dlc and all now.

Sorry I seem so uptight, but I'd just really hate to see this end, and In this thread so many people are just so blatant with the flipping its discouraging.
