Threw another log on the fire.  Started work at the new office today, which is across the street from Frys.  Found Lost Diminsion PS3 for $18.14.  I remember looking at this game when it came out, anyone have any input on this one?

Finished the Cold, Cold Heart DLC for Arkham Origins. Definitely worth a purchase as the boss battle is good and the new enemy variety is welcomed.

Beaten: 2

Playing: Call of Duty: Ghosts

Backlog: 217

I liked Actual Sunlight. I'm glad that I got to play it because of PS+ IGC.

I'm also back to the Vita with Code: Realize for something less time-consuming. I recently finished/platinumed Fallout 4 (no DLC) and Dishonored: Definitive Edition on PS4 and the hoarding of armor, weapons, and building materials in the former and stealthing in the latter wiped me out.

P.S. First post in here. Hello!
Welcome!

So after working on my backlog (As in playing shitty games, then dropping them and marking them as completed) I decided it was time to try an actually good game. Started The Master Chief Collection ( I had never played a single Halo game before), and call me a heretic if you will (pun intended) but I couldn't play it for too long, if it weren't for the engaging story and it's character, I wouldn't have gotten past the first mission.

Unable to tolerate the gameplay while intrigued by plot, I dropped the game and went to Youtube to find out what happened in the first game, so I could give the second game a try. Same thing as before, except this time, I fell even more in love with the story. To Youtube I went, rinse and repeat. Went to the third, and we all know what happened. Long story short, I'm about to give Halo 4 a try, hoping that it goes differently.

In the end, I don't know if it is just me and my high demand for heavy character progression and customization that didn't let me enjoy it, or if the games haven't aged that well. Regardless, the story has given me the chills several times, so much that I wish I had played those games back then.
I felt the same way about Silent Hill 2. I didn't give it a chance because the gameplay was frustrating so I went to youtube to see the ending/s and it's the one game that I regret not playing to see the end. I see now why Silent Hill 2 receives the praise that it does. Halo is a different story, imo. I played through every campaign except for 4. There aren't any small nuance that you might have missed or anything that would make it better had you played the games. The story could stand by itself with out the campaign.

How do you guys decide which game to play next? And, how big a backlog do you guys have?
For me, kind of the same as Corgstradamus but I try to have a balance in variety. Like if I play an open world game, I would want something more linear.

Beat Let it Die hated it somewhat the Jackals drop shit crafting recipes the grinding for parts. The needing to use revives if you equipment is crap and equipment breaking. Got Lifespeed, Yoshi 3DS and Legna Tactica.

Got back to 2050 in Overwatch my god the losing streaks winning streaks. Dropping to 1600 going back to 1900 that game really can piss me off. Well I am a dumbass Lifespeed is a N3DS title.

My backlog is small. I try to sell the games I have quick and quickly move onto the short games then the long ones unless they are PS4. I try to beat my PS4 games first and then the 3DS due to their trade values dropping faster. My backlog is currently 4 but one game is unbeatable. I also rent a lot of games for PS4 so I quickly beat them. I don't use PS+ or Xbox Live Gold so I don't get the free games every month.

1. Games that I rented

2. Games that drop in value that I can trade in

3. Digital Games

4. F2P Games

But I'm on Chapter 13 in FF15 right now. It is so boring. Playing that part is like doing the most tedious task at your job; you just want to plow through it and do something else.
I'm worried about this. I keep hearing the game gets extremely linear at the end and it just isn't fun. I'm really enjoying the game so far, chapter 8, a lot more than I thought I would. I'm getting a bit over powered because story missions aren't a challenge.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

Like some of you, my backlog isn't big and it's just PS4/Vita games now. I do have PS+ but I have been getting through some of the free games quickly since most of them were short.

It is a good feeling for me when:

- that platinum or last trophy pops

- deleting a finished digital game

- trading in or selling a disc or giving it to a friend

- returning a Redbox game with a final cost cheaper than buying it lol

:whee:

Chapter 13 in FF15 just makes no sense.

You get this amazing, open world with so much to do and amazing music with unique game play and strategy.

THEN it goes to fighting in super narrow hallways, with bland, repeating graphics and NO WEAPONS. It is so dumb. And it is so long. It made the game go from being a 10 for me to about an 8.5. It is that bad. But, Chapter 13 is getting patched because enough people like me are whining about it.

I will say this: Once your finally past Chapter 13, the game opens up and you can do anything you want before beating game. What I do like about FF15 is there is more to come with in through DLC. There is a lot to offer here with this game, so end game content and future DLC sounds super appealing --- especially if you're like me and like to get rare items or defeat uber hard side bosses.

It's just that Chapter 13 leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

I know you don't care: I might be posting my FF15 review -- filled with spoilers (but that is OK because I don't understand the plot) -- on CAG in the future. Chapter 13 motivated me to do this.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll enjoy my time now and be prepared when Chapter 13 hits. I'll prepare a bottle of whiskey for that. I'm guessing it's very much like the dungeons throughout the game. Dungeons are rather linear with the occasional dead-end path that leads to an elixir or treasure.

An observation: Chapter 13 is the linear chore of the game when almost the entirety of Final Final Fantasy 13 was a linear chore. Is the number "13" an homage to that? I wonder.....

Chapter 13 reminds me of Crisis Core graphics and is more linear than the dungeons. I'll stop now with Chapter 13, but it honestly felt like tedious work. I stopped caring about the story and searching for items because I just wanted it to be over with. Plowing through it is best course of action, IMO.

Don'y know if this is going to be a habit where I start games only to jump to something else but I started playing Call of Duty Ghosts and before I could even pull the trigger in the game I decided to go ahead and start Final Fantasy XV.  Watching King's Glaive first and so far it's not bad.  Definitely looking forward to continuing the story in the game.

A few days ago I downloaded and started an old NES classic, Double Dragon.
Today on my lunch break at work I finally beat it. Overall it took me 2 hours 23 minutes to finish it off while heavily abusing Save States.
That bastard with the machine gun caused me all kinds of anguish, but the final boss was cake afterwards.

I'll play it a few more times trying to see how far I can get without save states, but I doubt I'll actually beat the whole thing that way.

4 games down this year (granted, they have been short)
Currently playing (kinda)
Persona 4 golden
Dragon's Crown
Pokémon Moon
Final Fantasy XV
Backlog: still calculating.....

I'm going to do the same though. Probably will start Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens because Code: Realize is putting me to sleep even with the text scrolling at max speed and Auto; it must be the background music, too. The story is OK so far, but I'm thinking that visual novel dating games just are not for me.

Finished Geki Yaba Runner and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. Geki Yaba Runner is a really fun runner for the PlayStation Vita for anyone who likes those games. COD: Infinite Warfare in my opinion has the best campaign out of all the next-gen CODs and is only 2nd to MW3 for best in the entire series, although I haven't played World at War.

Going to start up Putty Squad. I'm trying to finish a bunch of physical games so I can get RE7.

Now #wishlisted. I didn't know this game was available on Vita and I love collecting socks. Thanks!

Might beat Yoshi 3DS tomorrow a couple things I dislike the running stages not having any random elements in them and the Poochy pups only available in mellow mode but I like almost everything else. I have gotten Toy Odyssey on PC. Been playing Overwatch on PC and CoD Ghosts with friends of X1. Hopefully I can find more time to beat Toy, Yoshi and Legna soon. Damn cheap copies of Ghost.

Edit Hated Toy Odyssey so back to Yoshi then Legna.

I started Elder Scrolls Online instead of Lego Star Wars. One of the few games that I got and immediately started playing it. Loving it so far, playing it with my best friend, and having no regrets that diving into this long game will probably slow down my completion of other games.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Actually been completing some stuff recently. Beat Legendary, Mars: War Logs and Watchdogs 2 in the past month. I think I'll start moving through all the half done games I have on Steam. Anybody else have a bad habit of playing a game right up until the endgame and then dropping it?

Well this is just great my Legna Tactica copy won't work. I redownloaded it three times. I bought two 3DS games that won't work on my system for some reason. 100% Yoshi 3DS but my backlog is once again nearly empty waiting for FF XV DLC and my copy of Legna Tactica to work

I finished Tales of Berseria earlier today. I picked up Battlefield 1, Mafia III, and Resident Evil 7 with a B2G1 coupon from Gamestop. I'm going to try to power through Battlefield 1 and Mafia III this week and sell them to get my money back which would essentially make Resident Evil 7 free with all the trades / discounts I got.

I upgraded to the ps4 pro during the holiday season (games stop system trade promo). Then, I created a list of games that I needed to play through. The first game I started on was Uncharted 4. Good game. Next was Bloodborne (Dark souls w/o a proper shield). I got help for almost every boss to finish it quickly. Another good game. I was going to finish Doom (half way through;stopped playing in Oct.) but instead I decided to finally play Dark Souls 2 SOTFS. Im 24 hours in and it's good so far. The rest of my list is pokemon moon, the witcher 3, ac: unity, ac: syndicate, the witness and doom. Then I'll create another list.

Hit a wall on Jak 2. The person that set the checkpoints deserves to be shot. There is one portion where you escort another character, have time based puzzles (that require a difficult jump spin) and you are also being chased. The worst part is the jump spin move I can only do like 1/4 attempts (if you mess it up you fall into the abyss). Maybe I am just uncoordinated. Here is the level in case anyone wants a trip down memory lane.

EDIT while writing. I just watched this video...It never occurred to me I could shoot the explosive box without it blowing up. I watched another video and the guy was going a spin jump and catching the edge. 1:35 is the box I am talking about. (I also see in the comments people run out of ammo, so I need to be careful)

Nioh and Tales of Beseria. I somehow beat Nioh fairly quickly thought it be 50+ hours. For some reason the enemies change in attack patterns and attacks slightly. Really wish they put more effort into the bosses and enemies in the later sections. I will not be playing New Game+. I question why I got Beseria since I don't really like putting 100+ into one game but I guess we shall see.

Hmm NieR Automata is now going to be on PC.

Malicious Fallen, Horizon Zero Dawn and Tank Troopers are still games I want to get February . As is my PS4 just sits and collects dust for months at a time.

Edit

Giving up on Tales of Beseria. I remember always giving up half way in Tales games due to having to use equipment to master skills, using certain artes 1000+ times to get another arte and other things.

From what I've heard Berseria can be finished in around 40 hours if you skip a lot of the story.

Beat L.A. Noire yesterday. I don't get all the hate the ending got, I thought it was pretty good. Tied up the story it told and gave you a decent idea of what will happen afterwards. I think I need to play something lighter though, what a depressing game.

Same. I loved the game and the gameplay. Since it was Rockstar people were expecting a shot em' mayhem sandbox like GTA set in the 1940's LA. I welcomed the slower pace and got engrossed in all the cases. I still plan to replay this someday. Did you play the DLC? Those were good too.

I agree, it's a unique game and they deserve props for making it so satisfying to collect clues and solving mysteries rather than just shooting mobsters. Yeah I played the DLCs. It impressed me how well they fit in the narrative. The last one is a little on the ridiculous side but it makes sense that it would take something big to distract the protagonists from their main focus.

Wow you guys have been killing it!  I wish I had more time to play.

I have L.A. Noire Complete Edition for PS3.  Started it either last year or the year before last and was going to permanently put it on the back burner but thanks to you guys, I will be playing it again soon.

I'm still playing Final Fantasy XV and I have only gotten past  Chapter 2 - The Power of Kings.

I just got to the dreaded Chapter 13 in FFXV. I'm in the long haul tonight. But since chapter 9 the game has been cake since I spent time leveling.

But after watching the Kingsglaive movie the the Brotherhood shorts I get a better appreciation for the story and characters.

Holy crap you guys weren't wrong. Chapter 13 of FFXV is grueling. Who thought this was a good idea? It kills the pacing to the game. I trucked along and got to the end but damn was that ruff.

And I found it cute at Final Fantasy's attempt at trying to be scary.

Still on FF15.

Did not get Nioh. Cancelled Switch PO, too. I was excited for that system, but cost of console + game + controller does not justify the purchase for me at this time. It will be something I get further down the line, though. Maybe when Xenoblade hits.

Still kept my Zelda BOTW SE Pre order though.

At this point, I'm thinking I keep playing FF15 until I master it. What I'm most excited for is the new Mass Effect. Snagged that for $19. I can't wait to play that game -- got the first one and all others on day 1. I loved all of them, but two was my favorite. ME3 ending never bothered me. I liked that one a lot, too.

Yea, chapter 13 really, really kills the game. But after that you get to do whatever you want. And there are these super secret dungeons with crazy bosses you get to fight after you beat the game. So worth it if you're into late game stuff like that.

The game went from a 10, to an 8.5 when I got to chapter 13, to a 9.5 when got to end game stuff.

I just finished Final Fantasy XV. Yeah. Chapter 13 is not good. One-third of the way through I simply said "this is fucking boring".

But I had a great time with the open world part. I was giving the game a 9 or 10 rating, but those final chapters brought it down to an 8. I enjoyed the open world so much that I probably will go back to finish what I left and see if anything opened up. Maybe that will put it back at a 9.

That makes Resident Evil VII and Final Fantasy XV my first two completed games this year.

Some spoilers about something in Chapter 13 that made me laugh.

When the bad guy said "all helpless without your borrowed powers" I thought "I don't know. I'm kicking everything's ass by just pressing square". I'm guessing the developers thought MP depleting would keep that from being overpowered, but early in the game I unlocked the ability to replenish MP with a well-timed button press.

Cancelled Switch PO, too.
Why not resell your switch preorder and get some money from the way Gamestop and Bestbuy employees told me things happen. They only get the preorder amount and perhaps a extra 1 or 2 to sell. Canceling a preorder will just lead to less being sent to the store. Holding onto to the preorder so someone at said store can pick it up after your preorder hold expires might of been the nicer thing to do.

Edit: Decided against Tank Troopers going to have to hope my copy of Legna Tactica will work. Waiting on Horizon Zero Dawn or getting my copy of Legna Tactica working.

Congrats! I didn't enjoy playing Grim Fandango so much, but the story was great.

Not too many titles out there where I will endure gameplay that I don't enjoy just to see how the story turns out. Grim Fandango is one of my Perseverance Platinums.

Just wanted to thank Corgstradamus for his work maintaining this thread, and I am proud of everyone here for putting so much time into their backlogs. Especially at a time when so many good releases are piling up. Keep up the great work guys!

If anyone has a PS4 or the Playstation Community app on iOS or Android, I recently remade the CAG PSN community, since that one was abandoned. If you guys want to join, look up "Cheapassgamers (CAG) Community" in the search bar, or leave your psn here (or pm me) and I will invite you. Basically we talk about games and stuff, and if you guys ever want to show off your platinums for a newly cleared backlog game, just post a screenshot in that community. You can also post just random funny screenshots of your backlog game. Will make it a lot more fun when playing!

If anyone likes streaming their backlogs while playing (I do), there's also a thread for that, where you can post your stream info and when you go live and get some viewers and followers! https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/361278-cag-twitch-streamers-community/

Just managed to beat Dying Light the Following and Watch Dogs 2, both seem like easy platinums but I'll hold out on it for now. Currently working through Gravity Rush and FFXV now. And I guess Blazblue Central Fiction and WWE 2K17 as well, if you include fighters/sports games like that in the backlog.

Again, much appreciation to Corgstradamus for providing a home for us to express our love of video games. Not trying to plug the PSN community and stuff, I don't get anything from it, but rather trying to hopefully provide additional tools in chronicling our journey.

I finally finished Code: Realize! [emoji16]

It started really slow, but then I grew attached to some supporting characters. Now, just 4 more (quick-skip) playthroughs for the platinum and 4 new boyfriends. OH, BABY.

Rocketbirds 2 is far superior. Got to love the tower getting 4 guys together for coop. Lone Survivor and The Last Station have to some of the best survivor 2D games.

Beat King's Tale. It is short but fun. Still waiting for the FF XV DLC to start playing that. Got to 2100 SR at Overwatch. Got a way to go to my regular 2250 area.

Did you mean The Final Station? Googling couldn't find Last Station anywhere, except for some movie about Tolstoy's life.

As long as you're having fun with the backlog, then I wouldn't sweat the conquest. Adding a PS4 and then a Vita to my set made me even more indecisive about what game to play next. #firstworldproblems
