The GameRush Nostalgia Thread

aaa

CAGiversary!
Please Post your feelings about GR ending, your last trade ins, your best transaction at GR, where you will be shopping for games from now on, and any other GR nostalgia.

 The deals are ending after today. It has been an AMAZING run over the past 9 months, and i thank the CAG community for helping me get on these deals. I have got about $2000 worth of merchandise for around $500, and no, i never flipped (might have done it once back in october). my last trade in:

lumines-$22
twisted metal Head On-$22
Crash and Burn-$8

got SW Episode III for $5.

I will still be buying games from gamerush as long as they keep giving the most trade in credit.

My best transaction was getting 4 preorder games (GTA PSP, Far Cry, Zelda, and maybe Conker) for like $35 (with CA tax) out of pocket using Echo Night Beyond and other games. insane deal, and im sure many of you have pulled off better ones.

All Gamerush customers, post your GR nostalgia.

i have never done the trade in 2 and get preorder for 30 deal...is it like this: if you traded 2 games that were both worth 1.50 then you would have 3 bucks in credit and would pay 27 out of pocket?

Yeah thats exactly how it works.

I still have 10 games on pre-order (all XBOX & GTA PSP). I got a second XBOX and a bunch of other games recently too. I never really spent TOO much money out of pocket. I'll still buy SOME games from GameRush also. There are not too many I want anyways until the XBOX 360 & PSP (but there are not many games coming out it seems).

I still may cancel a few games (if they give me $50 back...if not, I'll play them and trade them back if I don't really like them....assuming they still give $30-$35 for new releases in trade-in credit)

i have about 4 games left on preorder. i wasn't to fond of the preorder deal since i'm not to sure how long i will be sticking around GR for. i have gotten so many games from GR and they have served me well. i'm not sure that i will still be shopping there since they don't have a little 10% off card like eb or gamestop. but i will have to go there again if there deals are instated.

The vanishing deals mean I won't be visiting nearly as much, but I still have Zelda on preorder and about $175 in credit. Hopefully we'll see some more deals that will at least come close to the old days...

Damn, you make it sound like Blockbuster is shutting down all Gamerushes. As soon as Gamerush starts up another excellent trade-in deal everybody will be back. The trade 3, get 1 for $5 deal has come and gone many times before, as has the preorder deal. While I'm not betting on the $5 deal making a return, I'm sure we'll see some sort of preorder/new game deal in the future.

Yeah, the mood on CAG concerning GR seems almost like there has been a death in the family. I, for one, welcome the break in the deals. And like you, I figure the preorder/new deal will be back in some form (and with you being a GR employee I would defer to your opinion on that!). I assume they will see a dramatic drop in preorders starting this week and will probably have to do something to combat it. Now, the $5 PO deal, while great for the customer (though I personally only used it 4 times), was really a pretty stupid move. At least they didn't run it concurrent with the $5/game bonus deal :D. They could bring back a similar deal in the future, but make it $10, $15, or even $20 for the PO game (or perhaps some $$ off the price - like $15-$20 off so everyone doesn't automatically go for the higher-priced PO's) - that would surely discourage flipping while still providing a good deal for the customer.

I would be happy with another $5 bonus deal some time this year (in the Fall perhaps), and reinstatement of the preorder deal at end of summer when more of the Fall/Winter/early 2006 release dates have firmed up.

It would also be interesting if they came up with some sort of next-gen system preorder deal. What that could possibly be I have no idea, but I'm saving enough credit at least for a large deposit on the PS3 or Revo.

I dislike losing the deals, but I'm happy to learn that a local independant gamestore just opened up by me... it's actually pretty impressive that the owner can offer the prices he does... 18.99 on all games usually have a 19.99 price point. Just about all new GBA titles are 28.99 or less, and most games are even 5 dollars or so less than Walmart...
and if there is a unilaterally priced title that he has to charge 50+ for, he gives away a free used title 14.99 or less.

To top it off, the store has one of the best stocks of used games I've seen in a long, long time.

I think I may have to give up being a true cheapass for a while, just to support this guy's store so he stays in business.
... Where's the thread for when EB/GS went to shit?
that was when eb stopped giving the extra $5 for jampacks

oh man i really raped the shit out of that ebgames extra $5 deal :D

as for gamerush, i dunno, i got some kickass psp game for $5 from them, and got a lot of nice preorders(zelda, gta psp to name a couple)

as for what will happen now, i just consider myself lucky that i didnt get banned, there were a ton of fools who got banned this month here in socal.

did anyone ever find out if virgil (the gamerush manager in riverside)got banned/fired? i never been to riverside but it sounds like that dude was a total asshole.

Yeah, it is kind of funny that everyone is so upset about GameRush. I'm sure another deal will come.....hopefully something wher eI can pre-order XBOX360 games :)

Where is that store?

Oh and concerning the GR deal, I only got to do it today. I traded in some shitty games to get Mario DS and Feel The Magic XX/YY.
... Where's the thread for when EB/GS went to shit?
You mean the 'EB hides rare games under the counter' or 'GS used games are scratched and have copied artwork' threads??? :)

As the Golden Age of GameRush appears to be drawing near, I figured I'd tally up what I'd gotten from GR in the past year through their various deals. It's sad to see the deals go, but I really needed some time to play some of this stuff!
