GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

extra $5 trade in with any ps4, xb1 or switch game with at least $2 trade in value, could be interesting.
Yeah, interested to see the details on that. Definitely have a few XB1 games I'd like to get rid of.

Also looks like the 2 for $20 is gone in favor of the 4 for $10. But there's nothing the PS4, Switch or XB1 range of those prices that are worth it(mostly old sports titles). Basically a "hey, help us clear out old PS3, 360 & Wii games that don't sell" sale.

$5 extra doesn't start until Monday, hopefully my $2 TIVs from some old 4 for $20 fodder won't tank to $1.50

So if I traded in a game for the $5 credit, and I was trading in towards Crash Racing, would I also get and extra 20% on top of the price of the trade plus the $5 credit? (ie, will it stack?)

No, they'll give you the promo that gives you the better bonus.

In the past hasn't it been $5 for like one game? Not all of the games? I'm not averse to going in and trading individual games one at a time lol.

Thinking of getting rid of games that have had generally crap TIV's like rare replay and titanfall 2

I think there have been some instances where there have been $5 bonuses on a full trade with coupons and stuff, but this one looks like it should be per-game without having to make multiple trips.

4 for $10 starts Monday, so I think 2 for $20 is still on today. I know Rainbow Six Siege is part of it ($13.99) and has base Tiv of $5, so small flip/convert points to credit with bonus $5 promo. ($8/9 -> $10.50/$11) Any other flips?

Have we ever established if the backwards compatible 360 games that are listed as “Xbox One games” count on these console specific promos?

Having traded in some in the past and looking at TIVs online, they show up as Xbox 360, not Xbox One. So those won't work for the promo. The only time they are listed for XB1 is when they're trying to sell them.

For that spend $100 in pre-owned get $25 reward cash, if I'm a pro member and use my renewal B2G1 on a set of three $54.99 games making my pre tax total $98.98 will that quality or should I find a $1.02 collectible?

Subtotal needs to be exactly $100 or higher.

To spend $100 does it have to be in a single transaction to trigger the $25 cash rewards or could it be multiple trans to add up over $100?

Typically it's $5 per transaction. The ad says that you get an extra $5 credit when you trade in a qualifying game, not for each one.
No, I think you might be referring to a previous promo where the $5 bonus gets added TOWARDS A SELECT PRE-ORDER when you trade-in your old games. That promo only nets $5 per transaction even if you trade in multiple games.

Can I trade in any USB-c, micro-USB, and mini-USB cables? Or do they want Sony, nintendo, or xbox branded stuff? This is to trade in by itself and not with a system or controller. And do they take iPhone lightning cables?

I have traded in random usb cords with no problems...some have even been pretty short. Just don't go over 4 of one style. I don't think they take lightning cables anymore tho.

Oh hopefully. Maybe I'm just tempering expectations. I prefer to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. lol.

Employees are already posting on Reddit that it's $5 on top of the transaction, not each game. So if you trade 3 games for a total of $25, it would be 10%(pro boost) + $5 to equal $32.50. Also check the TIV in the morning, as there will probably be a TIV drop.

I was just about to say that. The Reddit thread says it's per game. But the promotion doesn't start until tomorrow, so I'd still take that with a grain of salt until people start posting their experiences.

The $5 per game isn't bad for those games that had a TIV under $10 during the 50% extra promo if you happened to not trade those in.

For the non-ad readers.

*Game must have a TIV of at least $2 to qualify. Not valid toward cash trades.

The Gamestop website shows $25 extra credit on console trades.  Is the $25 already added into the trade value when I look it up or would it be added on top of those values?  For example, i've got a launch Xbox One that trades for $75 so would I actually get $100?
