Current Trade in Promos:

GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Well played.
Depends on how much higher up it goes.... looks like going past $350 today easily!

Also threw a few k at BB + AMC.... I mean, why not at this point!

I am so, so happy for you. Makes those Amazon trade-ins look like spare change, huh. Can I ask why you bought so many shares after all the game flips and 'rangs you did? Weren't you worried that you'd hurt your own stock investment?
Because back last year in Feb... COVID shut downs were going to start and having been a resident of Florida and their hurricane seasons.. know what happens when people are locked in their houses for even a few days. (sex and video games!) So threw some money at some of those industries.

Lmao. So did you invest in some porn companies too? PM me which ones if you don't want to mention them publicly.

So far gotten 9 games from orders this weekend (think I'm still waiting on 3). 8 were complete with case and manual (though 1 was the wrong game but was a $2 game and a friend doesn't have it so whatever). 1 had an xbox case but generic art work (but at least it had a proper case so I can easily print a new cover).  Most surprising, two of the games had an unredeemed code for bonus content in them (including my $14 copy of Immortals Fenyx Rising). Overall pretty happy with results.

No, it's well played. Period. Congrats

Same my buddy convinced me to buy AMC yesterday along with Nok. I am in the green so much right now. Turned 20k to 80k last year and have turned 80k to 200k this year. Thank you Gamestop, AMC Networks and Theaters and Nokia.

Can I use my 10,000 points in store on a $10 eShop card, or do I need to request a rewards certificate first?  I haven't used a reward cert in over a year.  Thanks.

You must redeem towards a certificate beforehand and be warned, there is a limit of currency you can place on your account. I recently bought $500+ PSN credit and learned you can only put $150 on your account at a time. I am sure Nintendo placed limits as well.

I appreciate it. I only need $10 worth of eShop. I looked at my Switch digital backlog this morning, and I own nearly 400 games.

I'm not any better if that helps. Got 615 PSN titles purchased. 60 Switch games purchased. 400 is damn impressive for the Switch are there really 400 worth it to buy Switch games.

They used to price digital games for 10 cents. Some were free if you had previously bought games from certain publishers.

So, no, some of them are complete trash.

No matter what happens, Gamestop is fu*kin' SAVED.

They should issue an offering of a few million shares and gain a billion in capital.

No way they can die now. This is their lifeline.  They are currently a $22B company. I was just thinking back about rumors of Amazon buying out Gamestop.  If they would have done that, retail traders wouldn't have gotten this money, but Amazon instead.

Gamestop bought back 34 million of their shares at $5.14 average couple of years ago. And now it's at $300+.  Because they knew they would weather the storm.  All those people crapping on Gamestop now, are eating their words.  Their book value would remain high due to the money; they literally can't go back down to $5 based on fundamentals or fair value.

This is good for us, because Gamestop can be seen as a threat -- so it's possible others like Best Buy and Amazon may have to do more to compete (bring back GCU).  Shifting the market share to include a retailer like Gamestop, is better for us. Unless Amazon and BB can afford to let the video game business go elsewhere... we'll see.

If amazon bought them, none of this wouldve happened.

I am going to jump in with a PSA, after saying congrats to Davem you held out longer than I could to hit today's price. I did score a 12 fold return in my ROTH IRA on GME so no taxes sweetens the deal.

The stock price has nothing to do with the company at this point. If GameStop could issue stock today to reap the benefit of the current price they would. It may keep going, but most likely it will correct to better reflect the actual company. Wall Street is getting battered right now, but I suspect the little guys are the ones that are going to lose out on the way down. Take your profits if you are in or at least part of them, no one hits the tops or the bottoms of the market. I am sure most people trading for a living have trade triggers set for the fall and this stock can and probably will drop just as fast as it shot up.

anyone know if void terrarium is supposed to have shrink wrap. ordered 2 copies and both are beat up one was completely open

Yes its supposed to have shrink wrap. Mine came in with it torn and opened on top, but still wrapped around the bottom part of the box. I will be returning and hoping to get it from either best buy or amazon next time.

All of the times when I come in here and bitch about how y'all are wasting your time flipping games instead of buying stocks, and y'all still never bought any stocks...
I do believe this round goes to you.

Well, rhetorically. Dave M is carrying out the bank check.

Since when could you pre-purchase the GPG for a pre-order?    Never had it offered until I pre-ordered Resident Evil Village today.  Is this something new they're trying?

"Hmmm, I wonder if GME went high enough today for Davem to cash in his initial $5000 investment for a $500,000 return (before taxes, natch)"  :whistle2:k

DUDE. You called it...or I suppose that was a put, not a call?

It looks like you timed it about as well as possible, it's down in the after hours trading, the hedge funds are getting out, and the WSB reddit has gone private/invitation-only. No telling what tomorrow will bring, but you sure got today spot on!

So... any advice on the Super Bowl odds?
Or more importantly, when the next +5 on PS4/XB1 will hit?
#trades  ;)

Cheers!

Davem has now graduated from cheapassgamer boys.
Heh, not quite. This was more of a lucky strike for the sporadic diversification I do every year throwing 5k in a few stocks here and there, but still contribute the bulk disposable income to Index Funds. I will still be a CAG at heart. If it wasn't too obvious I'm a middle class engineer who spends most of his day in excel playing with funny money and like most everyone else here pretty frugal and live within my means (ie - paying credit cards off each month and carrying low debt). So it wasn't like I couldn't have paid the house in cash 10 years ago, but still took out the 15 year mortgage for tax purposes.

So when I told the wife about this Gamestop windfall the first thing she said was ... "So I can get some boobs right?". Yep. Not thinking about building a new house, 529 plan contribution, or re-investing for retirement.... but boobs. So no, I'm definitely not done being a cheapass if I need to buy new boobs every 10 years! (I do like boobs though :baby: )

Of course if GME reaches 9000 next week = missed an opportunity to retire early = sad panda.
Unless Amazon and BB can afford to let the video game business go elsewhere... we'll see.
I think Amazon is smart enough to try not to get sooo big or influential enough that they get broken up into multiple companies.

Congrats DaveM, happy for you. Now if only they could bring back the buy 5, get 50% off deal this week
Same here! I've got a $300 cart all ready to go (hoping it will be $150 when I check every AM!)

Lmao. So did you invest in some porn companies too? PM me which ones if you don't want to mention them publicly.
Lol... no porn companies... (though I have no doubt there is a pr0n ETF out there) just added to a few positions I had in the main streaming names (DIS, NFLX, ROKU, etc) :joystick:

*checks stock on phone*
Haha.... nice to see a fellow cheap-ass TFW user rocking the Wifi to save data and only pay $30 a year!

I'll be rooting for anyone but Brady!

I’m glad my investing is mostly limited to RSU’s and options; the whole GameStop story makes my butt pucker with anticipation of it all collapsing.

It hit 500 this morning in premarket.

In other news, mwt13021 has been added as a string and updated to include new releases through Cold War . Let’s see if they follow through with a stealth bump.

So I ordered a game on Gamestop.com like 3-4 days ago and it still hasn't shipped. Has said preparing every day. What should I do about this? Anything or just wait?
GS seems to have mostly switched to Fedex as of late, but the one USPS package they sent has been stuck "awaiting carrier pickup" for the last 7 days... :oldman:

And if it combines with the +40% =

Not just any Dave, but DaveM, a living legend destined for the CAG hall of fame!
Pretty sure you need to retire from active CAGin for 5 years before eligibility!

Today looks to be the start of exactly what I said yesterday

I'm old, so mostly use e*trade for trading, and didn't realize all the newer platforms restricted GME buying... that seems like exactly the market manipulation the SEC is supposed to regulate.  :bomb:

Limit order in however!

Today is the sell-off day, because all trading apps got those certain stocks restricted to selling only.

If there is no buying, there is no squeeze, let alone upside.  So cut losses, since this isn't going up.

Seems like the halts couldn't stop the bullrun; but it was the trading platforms themselves that ended this.

it sounds like the hedge funds called in some favors

damage was already done though, Melvin Capitol took a huge loss, a couple billionaires lost quite a bit of money. AMC avoided bankruptcy. Hopefully this will stop the short selling of dying companies, an misuse of short selling itself, but honestly it will probably just lead to further regulation of "regular" people trading online.

Yup.

And actually, if I was the hedgefund, I would have switched to going Long, and riding the rally up. Always go with the flow of the current in the ocean.

Once Robinhood, IBKR, TD Ameritrade, etc all said they were restricting, that's when the flow changes, and you go Short.

Seems pretty criminal to me. If i was long GME, I would be pissed.
