Current Trade in Promos:

GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

dude they get paid sub-living wages they don’t need anymore learning moments other than coming to work and dealing with condescending customers while getting paid $7.25 to $9, not even the managers who at best get paid $13-$16, at absolute best case scenarios. Please don’t do this to people IRL.
Maybe if they are so unhappy at their job, they should have made better life choices.

Everytime I see a good switch trade-in promo (have an extra AC switch I was planning to swap to eventually) I always forget that I my current one is a V1 switch with a "safe" serial. Maybe someday when 5TB micro sd cards are cheap we can put the entire switch library on it!  O:)

Serials between XAW10000000000 - XAW10074000000 are safe to buy
Serials between XAW10075000000 - XAW10120000000 are possibly patched
Serials above XAW10120000000 are definitely patched
Serials beginning with XAW4:

Serials between XAW70017500000 - XAW70030000000 are possibly patched
Serials above XAW70030000000 are definitely patched
Serials beginning with XAJ1:

If the waiter asks if I want chocolate cake for dessert and I ask if they liked it, how is that such a terrible thing? There are far worse jobs than GameStop that pay poorly.
So if they tell you the warranty is great, you buy it? When I worked in a restaurant, we were told to always say everything is good whenever we were asked that question. I will never ask them their opinion because they're trying to sell me something.

For the Orlando CAGs out there, the GameStop at 8115 S John Young Parkway at the corner of JYP and Sand Lake Rd is closing. Current promo is 10% off new games and 30% off used games. Probably by the time the percentages go up all the good stuff will be gone. Happy Hunting.

Another wave? My store is currently 50/70 with one more markdown coming.

Anybody recall what day the stealth bumps usually happen at the end of the month? Is it the 25th? And is it usually different for February?

Thank you kindly in advance.

Don’t know what everyone is getting their panties twisted about.

I have zero problems with GS or any other retail employees (well except maybe Wal-Mart. They really do kinda suck). I’ve never said or suggested once that they should have to take shit from lowlife customers. What I’ve said is they are being paid to do a job and if they don’t want to try and do it to the best of their ability, there are prob 10 others who would happily take that job.

The jackwagons in this thread are the ones saying they are miserable and they work for peanuts and blah, blah, blah. If anybody, GS employee or otherwise, is so absolutely miserable in their job, they should evaluate their life choices to this point, figure out what to do better and change things. Quit and find a better job. Or if you aren’t trained or educated for that get trained or go back to school. Improve your situation.

And realize this....if you don’t want to put forth the effort you don’t reap the rewards. Not everyone gets to live in a mansion and drive a $70K car. That’s not how the world works. Christ almighty this fucking generation. Think they are auto-entitled to everything everyone else gets.  I weep for the fucking future.

He has a point. I used to work at GameStop. Wasn't happy with the pay of course so stuck it out until I found something better. Which wasn't hard weeks later.

That's why I have an issue with people bringing up GameStop employees pay as if there's a certain pay rate someone has to make to where you can be an asshole to them

You're missing the point. It's not about wages. It's about not being a damn dick when you go to a store just because. If you can't be nice to people, use the website.

This stance is so overly simplistic.

Some people are born into situations that make it much harder to simply "get educated" as you say. The idea that everyone has access to the ability to completely turn their life around is a myth. Would you dispute that there are people unable to turn their life around as a result of greater effort to do so than those who start from a more advantaged position?

I'm not saying everyone deserves a mansion or fancy car. I'm saying everyone deserves to be treated with respect by others ...until they do something to you lose that courtesy. Working customer service shouldn't be an automatic loss of humanity.

Moreover you've taken a comment about not being unnecessarily rude to an employee and turned it into some rant about laziness and entitlement.

Gross.

I agree with you. It's not about wages. You're agreeing with me, but wages was definitely brought up as you can clearly scroll back and see.

You’re an idiot. Some people do make shitty life choices. But a lot of people have things happen beyond their control.

If I had to guess I would say youre a complete fucking mess of a human and you really need to reevaluate your life. But I also would guess you have no empathy and are incapable of understanding until something bad happens to you.

I cannot begin to say how sick I am of this bull$#!+ statement. Older generations who were able to support a family of 4 on a single income job with nothing but a high school diploma suddenly think millennials with a college education are "entitled" when the same jobs barely earn them enough to afford rent for 1. They might as well dream of owning a mansion and a luxury car because the odds of them owning any property at all in most major cities is also likely just a fantasy.

You want something to get upset at - get upset at income inequality. Get upset at the crappy economic policies the previous generations created that put us in this situation. Don't get upset at the kids who will have to work twice as hard just to be half as successful as their grandparents.

"Socialist snowflake" out

Like 85% of Gamestop employees seem nice to me. Understand what I'm looking for (cases and niche titles). Take no for an answer after their mandated sales pitch. Like to talk about games. Seem like normal human beings. Take a cross sampling of any work force and I bet you find 80-90% normal people and 10-20% dicks. No reason to pile on Gamestop for having the same ratio of worker types as everyone else.

We can count on DaveM to keep the eye on the ball. I still haven't received copies of Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo Olympics that were ordered during the last 50% sale.

School isn't free doc. It's possible to work towards a better life and be unhappy at your current job at the same time. Congrats on all your perfect life choices though, I'm looking forward to your books and lecture circuit.

Soonerdoc? More like Boomerdoc

Thank you to the handful of you who realized the Switch Lite could be traded in this past weekend for $175! I recently ordered the Mario Switch (let's face it, it's a Spidey Switch lol), so I didn't need the Lite anymore. I thought about keeping it as a backup, but that $175 makes for some decent store credit.

And honestly, people oftentimes hating on Gamestop, but I just got $175 store credit for something they sell for $180. That's one of the best trade-to-resale values they've ever given (that I can think of.) So again, thanks to those of you who realized that $50 bump worked on the Lite!

Godspeed my Coral Cutie (haha)

$72 for Pikmin 3 when they were selling it for $60. Legends never die

Anyone experience USPS levels of delays with FedEx? My Animal Crossing Switch has been 'on the truck for delivery' since the 6th... it's signature required, but they haven't even attempted delivery yet - the delivery date just keeps bumping back a day every afternoon (sometimes it'll say 'delivery exception - no attempt made'). I wonder if asking to have it delivered to the local FedEx store will resolve this.

If you have the tracking, you should be able to contact FedEx by phone, and they can tell you whats going on? Or you can get a specific delivery option to a different address(work, home, friend, etc.), as there might be some issue in your specific area that's causing the lack of delivery.

The snow storm in my area delayed everything, not sure if your area has been impacted by snow recently. But that on top of covid has definitely delayed everybody in my area.

And you sound like a bitter little person who is struggling with the fact that sleeping in your mom’s basement just isn’t cutting it for you anymore.

⬆️⬆️Perfect example of the better choices theory IRL⬆️⬆️

Of course it’s not free. Not yet anyway.

Hell I graduated from med school a loooooooong ass time ago. And I’m still paying off my school loans which were over 200K. Those opportunities are available to everyone. Is it easier for some? Absolutely. Some are smarter and don’t have to study as much. Some have medical or sociologic obstacles others don’t have to face. Easier for some simply because of nepotism.

There is no possible way everyone will have the exact same path or ease of opportunity placed before them, but those opportunities ARE available to everyone. You may have to work two jobs while in school. Or take loans. Or spend 3 more hours a night studying. But they are there. You just have to have the willingness to get er done.

Actually your book/lecture series is a pretty good idea.

Call them. There is no reason it should be on the truck for that long. Then again, FedEx is trash, so nothing surprises me anymore. Their screw-up netted me a free Xbox Series X.

Stfu.

I’m in my 40s. Worked hard for everything I have. And yet I still have enough empathy and understanding that not everyone who didn’t “make it” made poor life choices. Get off your fucking boomer high horse and simply stfu. Times are tougher and the road is steeper for a lot of “kids these days.”

I was going to tell him to STFU also and then I scrolled down and saw your post summing it up perfectly.

The fact that some of yall are in your 40s arguing on the internet is funny.
I remember when the internet was just black space and creepy chat rooms at the turn of the century.

Yeah, like CAG doesn't remind us of that. But in a good way, lol.

The fact that we're getting game deals and information is just a bonus lol.
