Nobody home here. The trolls and the juvenile drama chased me away.

I thought CAG was a supportive community, but I was wrong, apparently.

You're free to let someone else man the thread now; I understand J7 has a lot of free time on his hands and has been trying to circumvent the thread from me for a few months.

I just don't have the patience for the children anymore.

Picked up King of Fighters XI and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum for $5.00 each. Maybe I should go back and pick up Sly Cooper 1 and Jak & Daxter 1.
 
I know some of these have been mentioned but these are all $5 for PS2 on TRU's site and I saw many of them for $5 in store so they all should be $5 in store as well

While not exactly clearance, a pretty big YMMV I think - found a lone copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance Platinum Hits :360: at my local TRU this week. My understanding is that the PH is the same as the Gold edition with a different cover and a bonus dvd or some such thing. I'd never seen one before so I figured I'd share in case someone at TRU HQ just tripped over a box of em.

Somehow your store is the only one to not have the drops... sounds like you're just too lazy to put together the list on your own... just like in the past. And still no update to the OP since August.
 
Sorry guys, the whole price change list for that particular week are MIA at my store... They were not where they were supposed to be filed, and I looked all over the place for them. They are not in the system for me to reprint them either.

Still complaining about not being able to hijack my thread? Sad. Regardless, would anyone besides J7 be interested in taking over this thread? I may be looking to move towards a different one -- the wife just got a job at KMart's electronic desk. I'm tired of the trolls, and the lack of gratification the thread offers. Any takers?

I wouldn't mind taking over-- this is a small little beast next to Target clearance. But at the same time, I want someone else to have a shot at glory. So, I'm sure there will be someone that raises their hand to run this for you.

Honestly, if you're doing it for some sort of recognition, you'll always be disappointed. People will always come in and ask 'why isn't this or that updated' and ask questions that have been answered a million times before. Of course, I tend to respond to those questions with READ THE OP in the guide thread. It doesn't help in some cases, since the same people will come back and just ask it again rather than work for a deal.

You just have to realize that you're maintaining one of these threads for the good of the community and that sometimes parts of the community may come off as ungrateful and lazy. It's part of the territory.

Personally, I prefer skimming posts to find out what deals are available, as it makes finding one of them all the more gratifying since you hunted and worked for the deal. It also makes it harder for the other deal sites members to come in and just cut/paste the OP of a thread and claim it as their own.
 
Sorry, but I demand updates every 5 minutes. Can anyone promise me that? Come to think of it how about if someone just PMs me all of the TRU info? Even better would be if someone would call me up and leave a message on my phone, that way I won't even have to read.
 
I really don't see how it's any trouble for people to simply keep up on a thread. I only check CAG a couple times a day, and I manage it just fine. I don't know what snail's-pace forums some of you are used to, but this thread doesn't exactly fly by.

It's not that hard. The Target thread moves faster and I keep up with that.

The only reason I like the OP updated is when I'm on the hunt and on my iphone.

Right, the Target thread is by far among the busiest regularly running threads. If you can keep up with that, you can keep up with anything. A mobile, updated list is the number one benefit to keeping a thread updated and I regularly use the Target OP for DPCIs and what not when I'm in store.

I shamefully have not kept up with TRU clearance, although I did burn the last of my gift card credit on Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2. Hurray.

But with the OP of the threads updated, you risk having El Hoardo swoop in on your stores with the list on THEIR phone and clear everything out.:razz: That's why I like what phear has done with the Sears thread, where they're waiting 2-3 weeks before posting everything in the first post.

It allows US time to go get what we want before the list makes it(like it has somewhat)to SD/FW.
 
I'm sorry, but I don't subscribe to the commonly believed hypothesis that El Hoardo can't read or dedicate time from his day to read the latest posts from CAGs. In fact, it is my belief that El Hoardo graduated elementary school, and has mastered basic motor skills-- yes, I know, two statements that shatter commonly held beliefs about El Hoardo.
 
The hell you say. I still stand firm in my belief that El Hoardo is one of the many LAG's(lazy ass gamers)on here who always complain about the list not being in one convenient spot.
 
The thread doesn't need to be updated every week, but it would be nice to have it updated within say a month of a deal, which it is not. And the thread should contain most of the games that went on clearance not only a handful of them. I'm all for telling people to read the OP if the info they needed was actually in the OP, which it is not. I find it a bit odd if people disagree with that.

I didn't hijack your thread, you offered it to me and then complained like a bitch after I delivered. But you didn't do jack shit for this thread anyways, anytime anyone had a question you went out of your way to insult them instead of just give any info out. And you only took prim's hard work or others who posted full lists and inserted it into the OP, sitting back and desiring praise they deserved.

Obviously, you're only doing these threads for gratification since you do no work nor answer questions nor try to improve the thread's info, can't take the heat, and still want to do another thread because this particular one is not gratifying enough.

I'll be happy with anyone who takes over your thread as long as it's not your lazy lying rude ass. :applause: It's about time you resigned.

ToysRUs Clearances & Markdowns

- When reporting finds please use this format:

DS – SKN - game name - $19.98 (former price)- $9.98 (current price)

- Please include SKN #'s if possible.
- Dates are when prices were changed by TRU or original/further drops reported by CAG members.
- Note: Games are often price dropped numerous times, i.e. down to $19.98 then to $9.98 & then to $5.00 & then possibly $3. So a game reportedly dropped to $5 may have already sold out weeks earlier.
- Games may not be marked at their current prices. TRU clearances and markdowns are generally nationwide so they should ring up at a clearance/markdown price.
- If you buy a game that later drops in price you can either get an employee to refund you the difference, or if they can’t, then return and rebuy the items.
- sometimes stores will mark their items down sooner than other stores based on sales/inventory.
- Most TRU’s offer store credit for trade-ins, which you must bring to the service area and have ID.
- Do not talk about selling/reselling.
- Do not call TRU and ask about clearances.

Only problem is that when the OP of a deal thread like Sears/Kmart/Target/TRU are updated regularly, it becomes even harder to find stuff in stores because all of the lurkers grab every damn thing.

That's why I hope whoever runs each thread would actually follow Phear's example in the Sears thread and wait 2-3 weeks before updating, to allow us the chance to grab what we want first.
 
I would really love some solid empirical data that shows that clearance sells quicker with an updated OP, something outside of, "Yeah, we tried that once and then everything sold out almost immediately."

Of course, that would never happen since we're just talking about clearance game purchase trends instead of some pressing issue that deserves time and attention.

All I know is that NOT posting the new drops immediately and giving those of us who keep track of new drops in the threads by READING them(not just going to the OP)a chance to grab stuff before everyone else who just skims the first post is a good way to run things for some of us(ie ME).

When stuff is updated immediately, it may be while I'm away from my PC or can't make it to the store immediately, which is why the 2-3 week 'grace period' phear has been using in the Sears thread is nice.

Admittedly, some of the stuff could be getting grabbed by employees and not 'omg lurkers', but it seems like every time the OP of each of the major threads is updated everything on clearance becomes scarce at my stores.

But hey, to each their own, though I know what I'd prefer.

I think the biggest problem with the updated OP list is that the games disappear quickly when a CAG El Hoardo decides to c&p the list to SD/FW/etc. Once it hits those sites, it gets to non-gamers who just want to fill a shopping cart with every copy of every TRU clearance game and trade-in or ebay them for mad profit.

The LAGs here may have the patience to read recent thread pages, but merging the last 10 pages of finds into the OP takes more work than a LAG will do to feed other site's Hoardos.

Honestly, how would you even begin to research that? There are so many variables involved which are different from week to week, store to store, and item to item -- what's on clearance, how many copies any given store has, when the markdowns happen, where in the store the clearance is placed, whether it's clearly marked in the store, whether it gets posted on other sites, etc. -- that it would be extremely difficult if not outright impossible to isolate out the effects of updating the OP.

One thing that I think can be said without too much doubt is that once a deal makes it over to SD and/or FW, it gets wiped out pretty quickly. Last week, when the Sears markdowns happened, there was a pretty good stock in the stores, and it seemed to last for a few days. Then it got posted on SD, and everything was gone the next day (I know, as I tried to go back to the store to exchange a copy of Hot Shots Golf that I discovered was damaged for one of the other three copies that were there when I bought it, and they were all gone along with all of the other clearance titles that had been there).

So I think that the main point to not updating the OP right away is that it makes it harder for someone to just outright copy the information over to these other sites. Sure, it's there in the post and can be compiled from that, but for the most part the people that do reposts are lazy -- they'll copy and paste a list that's been put together for them, but if they have to go through and put their own together, they won't bother. It makes it take a little longer for things to find their way over to these other sites.

That being said, I'm torn, because I also like having the handy list that I can look at on my iPhone in the store. Of course, since the OP is generally never right-up-to-the-minute regardless, I usually go through the last few pages of the thread when I'm in the store anyway, so I don't know that I really gain much from the OP list as far as newly marked down titles go.
 
If you live in a major city like I do, you have no hope of finding clearance stuff in any case. People here are on top of that shit no matter what you do.

While I agree that the updated OP is handy I am completely on board with not updating the OP. Here's how I deal with that. I bookmark/favorite the page with the update in my browser and then sync my browser favorites with my iphone. Problem solved.
 
I think there's a lot of over-thinking going into the hypothesis that stuff sells exponentially faster with an updated OP-- it's assuming that flippers aren't willing to put in the work to get deals. I know a lot of people are willing to put in the work of reading threads and keeping up on it for the purposes of reselling clearance games. Surely some aren't, however. Just the number that aren't is unclear to me.

But I am not trying to argue with your guys, and I politely respect your ideas and views.

I agree with you but.. call me a LAG I would rather have it all on the OP because I know alot of threads seem to do this and the problem I have with it is, very often I will read through the last 2 pages of posts to see if any drops happened and this wastes about 5-10 minutes to read people argueing how a thread should be run.

That's absolutely correct.

If anything, the flippers and hoarders work HARDER than the casual CAG.

The only downside to updating an OP is that it gets copied to SD/FW. But as with everything else, if you don't get there the first couple days, you're SOL anyway regardless of whether it's on SD/FW.

I understand the situation of an insider (say kay in Kmart) posts a upcoming drop. Maybe that shouldn't go into the OP right away. But after a week or so, update that shit! It's not about being lazy (I read almost every single post in Sears/Kmart/Target/TRU threads). It's about the purpose of the OP. If it's not updated in a somewhat timely manner, what's the point? You can't possibly say to someone "check the OP!" cause the OP would be worthless. Imagine if that shit happened in the Target thread. It would be awful.

Is there even a single 2010 update in the Sears OP? It's March!

Exactly. All you usually read on the SD/FW threads for clearance lists taken from here is 'how much is this worth on Ebay' or 'I made this much per(item they grabbed)'.

While some of us also sometimes hit these sales and clearances for some stuff to flip, many of us just want the chance to get these games for the cheapest possible price to PLAY. That's something that a good majority of the SD/FW crowd typically doesn't do.

If you're on here reading the last 2 pages of posts to see if any deals were posted, you must have time TO waste, so why is it such a waste of time if people are simply conversing or debating in the thread as opposed to posting deals?
 
I was in Kmart today, thinking this over. Ironic.

The hispanic guy next to me couldn't read a word on his iPhone, and asked me if I could. Imagine my suprise when it was the KMart clearance list, on CAG. He was going through the first post, trying to find clearance games. "I sell them on ebay, make money."

That's enough for me. I'm going to stay on the thread, but I'm going to stick with the 2-3 week example from now on. Seeing as how this thread hasn't seen any action until recently, that shouldn't be a problem. If you have any problems with the delay in updating the thread, well..

As I'm scrolling through, I'm only seeing about 10-15 things that need to be put on the original post anyway, so why are so many people crying over it?

Considering I was a week late, well, about a week ago, I'll see what I can do about putting something in this weekend.

why would anyone care when the First page is updated ,, just go back and check the last few pages...

I like to see drops listed as soon as they happen but that doesnt mean it needs to be relisted on the first page...

then again a 2/3 week delay would save my wallet from just going out and grabbing stuff i dont need

That's why I'm glad when the OP isn't updated regularly, since I may see something that I've wanted to play at a halfway decent price and go out and splurge, while I still have a bunch of games to play through.

Of course, I may grab extras of this game or that if others can't find them and sell them at my cost, shipping and maybe $3-4 extra(like I'm trying to do with Fallout 3 GOTY right now).
