Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

I've actually heard that the Ghostly Adventures game is pretty good.  I'm not in any hurry to test that myself, but apparently looks CAN be deceiving.

That and the cartoon is pure nightmare fuel.  Seriously.

Hansel & Gretel is a very simple pattern fight, with a sped-up third phase...
And that right there is why I gave up. Don't play fighting games for the same reason. I'm not good with the memorization.

On the other hand, i'm currently mired in Trials, and that game is all about timing and repetition. Just got my A-license and unlocked the hard levels. They're hard.

Maybe they need to make another Giana expansion, but with motorcycles.

Bought Gunpoint. Why the hell not, lol.
My reasons for skipping it:

1. It's only 66% off on Steam, not 75% off.

2. I'd rather buy it direct from Tom Francis directly - so I can get BOTH a DRM-FREE Version download + a Steam-key from him.

Unfortunately, that site currently ain't matching or topping Steam sale's price, ATM. So, I'll wait.

EDIT:

HB also ain't matching or topping Steam's deal, either.

HB carries Gunpoint for both Steam-keys + DRM-FREE version downloads.

:(
I often play most games solo, anyways.

{shrug}

I dunno who'd wanna play games w/ me, anyways.

{double shrug}

EDIT:

Gunpoint, anyone see this bundled soon? Damn I really enjoyed the demo and want, but a bundle would be awesome!
Well, it is on the HB Store (DRM-FREE + Steam keys).

And, Tom Francis' website directly sells it the same way as HB does (DRM-FREE + Steam keys).

I don't see myself playing anytime soon - so at 66% off, I think I can wait.

In case anybody didn't know, borderlands is on sale today at GMG. You can get the DLC packs individually for 2.50 each. W/the coupon, it's 2 bucks. Just picked up Tiny TIna's dlc over thurr.

Gunpoint was a very fun & creative puzzler, but woefully short.  The dev seems to have given up on updating it as well, which is disappointing as the level editor is mostly worthless.

Wait for the bundle.

Dust and Elysian Tale. How often has this been on sale on XBLA or bundled for that matter. Just paid attention to it and wow really want it. However I got like $60 on xbla as opposed to like $6.50 on steam at the moment. Any thoughts? Or is the PC version superior enough to take the plunge?

Went ahead and picked up the Psycho class DLC, first time I've noticed it 75% off or more.

I grabbed Brothers as I think I'll play that one fairly soon.

I'm debating on Evoland as I hear good and bad things about it.

I will probably get Gunpoint, though I'm not sure I want to buy one of the higher-tier versions. I don't generally care that much for soundtracks, but the commentary has me interested - is it worth it?
If it matters, they're nice enough to offer the "extras" per version separately should you decide later you just love it, I guess.

I really didn't like Dust. Spent most of my time wanting to punch the sidekick, and no amount of fun gameplay can get me to overlook annoying characters. The combat was great though and it does look really nice. Might have liked it more had I bought it at this price.
I liked my nimbat companion...

<wonders if this dislike is a guy thing>
I'm a guy and I just adore Fidgit. However I just may be a bit... weird.
I thought the writing for Fidgit was more clever than I expected. Didn't find (him/her?) particularly annoying. Fidgit seemed just self-aware enough to be funny without being obnoxious.

Too bad for me that GMG never works for me. Won't accept any credit card I've used.

I thought there were only two.
There's three -- based around Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. There were originally going to be free holiday content updates last year (the've been in the Steam files that long) but Pitchford thought it would be a great idea to charge people $3 each. Only bother if you're a complete Borderlands addict and need to see EVERYTHING Gearbox puts out. To my knowledge there isn't even any unique weapons/mods/whatever. Just skins.

I really loved Fidget, I thought she was funny and charming and after the first couple minutes her squeaky voice really didn't bother me. I thought the writing as a whole was very good, but I guess I typically like cute stuff like this so to each their own.

This video makes it look like a geriatric 3D Sonic.
I just want another Pac-Man World 2, is that really too much to ask for?

It's almost like no one who voted for SNOW actually read the store page.
You act like you're surprised.

It's a sad day when one has to admit the console version is actually superior in this regard.

I often play most games solo, anyways.

You know, if you stopped feeling so sorry for yourself all the time people might actually want to play stuff with you. Nobody likes someone that just mopes about, believe me, I've been there myself.

It hasn't been bundled yet and has only hit $3.75 (-75%) recently, a handful of times. It's been on sale more often on XBL perhaps but usually for only $7.50 (-50%), aside from I believe once when it reached the same level as the current steam sale. The PC version has higher resolution artwork, but otherwise they are mostly the same (and the dev has said he wants to keep them that way), so I would just pickup the version that you are most likely to play (if you are more of a PC gamer/console gamer, the choice is probably obvious).

Too bad for me that GMG never works for me. Won't accept any credit card I've used.
Your bank is likely denying it as a foreign transaction do to GMG being based outside the US. You best bet is either adding money to your Paypal account, or talking to your bank to get them to approve the transaction (I had the same problem, but it was easy enough to clear up).

So, I had a bit of time to try out some of my new racing games and setup.  First off, the G27 is a respectable wheel.  In its price range it's probably the best you can get.  (Don't we all want Fanatec setups?)  Good resistance and decent force feedback.  The mechanical deadzone is a little wider than I'd prefer, but still perfectly tolerable.  The pedals have believable resistance, especially the brake and it allows for good modulation.  I didn't get to try out the clutch and shifter setup, but the pedal feels similar to my Honda Civic, but certainly lighter than my Integra with 3400lb dual diaphragm pressure plate (though, that actually would be nice IMO).  Also, my current cheapy computer desk will not be up to the task of using this wheel long term as 900 degrees of aggressive motion is no match for flimsy Office Depot particle board.  Time to pull my spare Sparco seat out and build a rig.

I decided to play around with Trackmania first (huge thanks to Ashes!) and I've come to the conclusion I'm much better at standard asphalt racing/physics than the alternative.  As such, I had the easiest time with Valley which is similar to touring car type racing.  Tight lines and aggressive entry seem to pay off.  Canyon is very much a drift style title with its plethora of turns that reward late entry and tail happy corner exit.  Stadium is pretty much an automotive playground and I actually had the hardest time catching on with it.  Physics were questionable at times, but were at least fairly consistent from what I played.  All three are pleasing to the eye and had that Pinball FX2 'let me try one more time' type quality.

Assetto Corsa while still an Early Access game is remarkable.  Arcade racers are best waiting in the media center because this sim is all about realism.  From the feel of the tire on the edge of friction loss to the sound of loose gravel exiting the wheel wells after a turn taken too wide, NFS this is not.  For what is there, the sights, sounds and feel are all pretty impressive.  I'm going to have to play around with this control-wise to get it just right, however.  The default G27 setup in the game would not recognize my external shifter, nor clutch pedal (maybe it's not implemented yet?) and the steering was waaaaaaay to touchy.  I was too lazy to actually mess with anything settings wise, so I just adapted.

And totally off topic, I just recently watched The Avengers and Star Trek: Into Darkness.  Having kept myself in the dark with both movies (which was no small feat), I was pleasantly rewarded.  The Avengers exceeded my expectations and was very much the sci-fi ensemble film that I was hoping for.  No one character really overshadowed the other which kept me interested throughout the duration.  Star Trek lived up to my (admittedly high) expectations, barely.  The movie on a whole was enjoyable, but I felt it could have used some more emphasis on the supporting cast as well as a bit tighter narrative.  Some of the old movie references were a nice touch, but isn't it time to branch out in the alternate time line.  Maybe for the next one?

That is all.

It looks like Retro City Rampage is also on sale for $2.99 at the HB Store: Retro Goodness. That's the lowest it's ever been according to Enhanced Steam. Any CAGs have a recommendation on that one?
I played a bit of it. The nostalgia and references are great and packed to the breaking point, but the gameplay just felt dull to me. I didn't like that your character has to basically get up to speed whenever he changes direction (it feels like you are controlling a car), and it's rather repetitious as a whole as you basically are just doing tons of escort and assault missions. Granted I only got an hour or two in so maybe it gets better, but I didn't find it something I could sink much time into. At best it's good for 10-15 minute bursts if you are a fan of 80's and 90's pop culture, but personally I'd wait for a bundle.

Getting myself Tetrobot and CO. love me some puzzle games!
If you haven't got it already, I'd recommend Blocks That Matter to which Tetrobot is a spiritual successor. I had a lot of fun with it and it's very cheap on Steam.

Yeah, tough to come back to a game if it doesn't control well. This game always seemed like it was going to end up in a bundle, which is why I've held out as long as I have. Thanks for steering me back onto the bundle track.

Glad to hear more good things about Assetto Corsa. One of my friends has been raving about it since it hit Steam. Would have grabbed it had it not appeared so damn early in the sale. Hopefully it will squeak in as a repeat flash that will piss off everyone except myself.

Both times I have bought from GMG, my phone rang the instant I clicked on the Pay button.

It was my credit card's anti-fraud department calling to verify the transaction.

They went through fine, but it wakes up the whole house and leads to lots of questions and a foreign transaction on the credit card statement.

It has to be a good discount to be worth the hassle.

A quick bit about Retro City Rampage:

I had been watching it for awhile so I pre-ordered the game on PC. To celebrate the anniversary of the game and the release on PSN the guy sent me a PS3/Vita code. This year, just as the holidays were hitting, the guy sent me an extra Steam code.

Vblank Entertainment and Brian Provinciano are fucking rad. That is all.

I haven't had PayPal since they locked my account and told me I had to submit info to prove who I was. Problem is they won't let me submit it and any attempt to contact their support is pointless. So yeah, no PayPal for me.

My shopping was pretty lean. Got the last few pieces of DLC for CK2, bought all of EUIV, Deus Ex: HR DC ($5, but I thought I needed Missing Link; I really didn't until it was too late); Dishonored GOTY...and I got a gift copy of Brave New World for Civ V thanks to a friend. We'll see how the next few days are.

Excellent Choice! Yeah, first time I've seen it hit 75%. (I snagged it at 66% in summer.) A new character class adds more play time than enything else. =)

Yeah. I was going to mention this before stuff. It was also $3 on the Steam Summer sale, though HB Store nets you the (MysterD-bait) version too. I've been tempted, but I don't see myself getting around to it anytime soon.

Yeah, that's the thing. The G27 is the best thing until you start shelling out in the $600+ range... The usual recommended upgrade from the G27 is pedals (I can agree with this). Also last I knew, Fantech didn't have a decent H-shifter, so the G27's shifter is often desired. My other tips for Ghetto-rigging it is, use bicycle inner tube for a more compliant clamping surface. If you need to shim, wine cork (slice to spec) is wonderful. Also if using a desk... gotta get those pedals up higher... place them on top of three 12-packs of soft-drinks (I'm assuming a wall or something as pedal-backstop).

Also the frequency and RMA-time of Fantech stuff makes is kind of offputting, or at least makes one desire a backup setup.

Hahaha, I haven't tried TrackMania with a wheel... I guess I should.

Assetto Corsa + G27 ... settings.. it has G27 defaults with or without shifter... only a couple clicks to set it up... much deeper if you want to adjust ranges and response curves. (Also make sure your race settings aren't set to automatich transmission. )

My six hours in Assetto Corsa have all been in the Lotus Elise SC on Magione (don't look at me like that...) and the G27's defaults worked quite well once I turned all (unnatural*) assists off, e.g. the "Pro" setting. The racer settings were messing with me in a wicked way... I suspect the main culprit was auto-clutch.

Assetto defaults are such that if a car has an H-Shifter IRL, it defaults to the H-shifter. If it has a paddle-shifter, it defaults to paddles.

*If a car has ABS like the Elise, then there's a deeper setting somewhere to turn it off.. but at least it is like the car is IRL.

Hotlap is pretty enjoyable (racing against your own ghost), and Time Attack is a nice challenge (have to make progressively tighter track times.).

If you haven't got it already, I'd recommend Blocks That Matter to which Tetrobot is a spiritual successor. I had a lot of fun with it and it's very cheap on Steam.
Interesting. BTM is one of the few HIB games I've actually played. I rather liked it.

Make a new paypal account. ...also useful once you hit the $5k limit where they want to verify you.

So I've been going through my Humble account and I have a quick question on Humble Bundle Steam Keys:

I'm not sure if these are used, I've had keys that looked like the above, but they were already activated.

I do not see a giftbox button next to those in the picture so they might be already redeemed.

So now I'm kicked off the Steam Marketplace until the 2nd because I had the audacity to add more money to my account to buy more crap.  Fan-F'ing-tastic.  I swear if I wasted all this time and don't even get that badge at the end of it I'm gonna go ballistic.

I actually had my pedals sitting on one of my Pelican cases which turned out to be the perfect height, but could use some rake to it. I'm debating trying to make an adjustable all-in-one gaming rig since when I play other games I tend to be sitting fairly upright anyway. Couch be damned.

In Assetto I just did a bit of hotlapping in a Pagani Zonda R and a Formula Arbath at Imola to get my feet wet. I'm guessing I missed some settings somewhere within the game because the paddle shifters were working, but not the clutch/H-shifter, even with both presets loaded. And yeah, I actually find it easier to drive with assists off. This is particularly true in the NASCAR game. I probably should have started with Assetto though because by the time I got to testing it my left eye felt like it was going to pop out (sinus infection) and I had a cat trying desperately to sit in my lap.

AFAIK, those should still be available. I just went back to old humble bundles (before the gifting) recently and keys that I had redeemed still had the key in those areas. Ones I had not redeemed still had the "Click Button to redeem" button.
