Thrift Store Thread 2012
I think that Metroid Prime is just a demo.
Yeah i think you're right. Oh well, guess they are all for the daughter then :)

I went to my goodwill. They had skylander starer set PS3 oh $hit!! game sealed..yes! instructions sealed...yes!!, that thing you put the figures on sealed...yes. box opened..no big deal... all three figures missing...BOO!!! I searched and searched like a homeless person but could not find them. Probably some kid stole it...
Price 29.99 ARRRGHGHGHGGHGH!!!

Lol. It would've been a great steal! My Goodwill always seem to have the Skylander Set once in a while. My bro picked it up a few months ago. During June, I found 2 SEALED figures for 2.99. Imagine the look on my face when I saw it. So glad no one stole it or anything. And it was in the damn toy aisle too!

Ok, I think this takes the award for weirdest video game related finding at a Thrift Store

paasa.jpg

Almost passed on it thinking it was nothing, but did a quick search on eBay using my phone and found that one recently sold for $60 bucks, so off to eBay this thing shall go. Paid 75 cents for it.

I snagged a copy of Taz: Escape in Space for the Game Gear for 99 cents. Im hoping to sell it on ebay at some point, or trade on here once i open up my own thread. It was a sweet deal tho

All this talk of eBay reminds me I still have my sealed copy of Packy & Marlon for SNES I found at a Salvation Army store about 6 months ago that I really should sell, though the corners of the wrapping are MIA and the box is worn on those corner spots.
Hamtaro: Ham Ham Heartbreak GBA
F-14 Tomcat GBA
Super Mario 64 DS
Shrek Superslam DS
Cooking Mama 2 DS
Wario Ware Touched DS
Metroid Prime Hunters DS
Oh god, I have nightmares about F-14 Tomcat. One of my first GBA games and I remember it being pretty horrible... Glad to see you're having some luck though. I haven't been hitting up the stores all the frequently.

And of course not within 10 minutes of listing my Mario Paint Paas on eBay, I get a message from someone "I really want this, but I'm on vacation, can you send it to an address other than the one listed on my PayPal account?". fuckin scammers

Xevious NES- $3, saw the cartridge sitting on the shelf.....further down the clear bag with the black sleeve in it.....further down the booklet....and even further down the box with the foam block in it! Everything is in amazing shape.

Passed on some Mario Kart Wii wheels, Genesis games that I can already play on the Ultimate collection they made for 360, and a returned boxed N64. She let me look at it, person said the system was broke, I asked if I could buy the box with the foam, controller, baggies, cables, and booklets. She called the back and the manager said No. I said "how about $15 for everything then?" (it was marked $30). Manager said no to that as well. Pissed me off cus she said theyd probably throw it out too, might have to keep an eye on their dumpster.

you should have said yes, but still sent to the address on paypal

Snagged The Legend of Dragoon for PS1 and Grandia II for Dreamcast today for $4 each. Decent prices I think even though apparently neither of them are particularly valuable :/ might just toss em up on eBay if I don't get a kick out of playing them

This is probably my best week for finding video games at thrift stores.

The two blu rays were $8 each at Goodwill and the games were from an upscale thrift store. They were $3 each, except for Final Fantasy, that was $4.

 That reminds me I still have my copy of :br: Wall-E that I picked up for $5 about a year ago that I haven't watched yet and the copy of the :br:Pillars Of The Earth mini series that I haven't watched either and I had PM'd at BB.:bomb:

Picked up a ton of DVDs today from my local GW, which is still doing them for only $1. Shining examples that I plan on keeping for myself:

Samurai Jack Seasons 1 and 2
Red Vs Blue Season 1
The Mentalist Season 1
Adventures of the Gummi Bears (Whole series of 47 episodes)
Bruce Willis 4 Film Collection (Last Boyscout, 16 Blocks, Last Man Standing, Whole Nine Yards)
Classic Comedy 4 Film Collection (Vegas Vacation, Spies Like Us, Man with Two Brains, Man Who Knew Too Little)

Also got:

GTA San Andreas (AO) Complete :ps2:
DOA Extreme Beach Volleyballs (Complete, even has lenticular card)

And they also had Lego Indiana Jones 2 for the DS, but upon looking inside case, expecting disappointment, there sat a Pokemon Platinum DS cart.

If you don't enjoy Grandia II, you should probably just stop playing games. In other words: it's fantastic. One of the few JRPGs still actually worth a damn.

Damn. Nice haul. I wish I could find season sets like Gummi Bears and Samurai Jack at my thrift stores for that cheap.

Picked this stuff up today. Didn't have time to clean it all up yet.

GB games were $1.98 each, MidiEvil was $.88, KH2 was $3.98 but is missing the manual, the SNES games were $2.98 each (label damage on Doom and Mega Man X sucks but for $2.98 I think it's alright), and the Gen 3 was $15. I probably would have passed on the Gen 3 but I needed another 6 button controller.

Found a green Gameboy color is good condition for $5 yesterday,
Now I just need to find a micro to have all of the gameboy models.

Xbox 360 power brick and cable. Model #DPSN-186CB A- $4

Looks like about $20 on Ebay. Which is funny cus the overpriced GW did have a power brick for $25 the other day.

Very happy today with my Thrift Store find. This local Thrift has prices that are on the high-ish side, but usually fair. Today I saw a big stack of complete NES games, at various prices. Ended up leaving with these five

neswa.jpg

They were priced individually, I paid $10 for Contra, $5 for Super C and Mario 3, $4 Zelda 2, and $2 for Ghostbusters. I'm especially happy about Contra, since it's on the short list of NES games I want but don't own and it never comes cheap, and it's in the best condition out of all of them. I'm hoping to flip Mario 3 and Zelda for about $25 each, but we'll see.

I passed on other stuff though that was either too expensive, in poor shape, had no resale value, or just weren't stuff I wanted. Off the top of my head I passed on Black Bass, Life Force, Bump and Jump, RC Pro AM, TMNT Arcade Game, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Bases Loaded, Dr. Mario, and Double Dribble for $5 a piece and Excitebike and Bubble Bobble which were both pretty beat up and were $10 each. Hopefully some other collector will come along and pick them up.

Wow, great find, especially the SM3 and Contra. I like the Ghostbusters too, mainly because of the box art.

So here is what I have gotton from the last 2-3 days.

From Half-Price Books (I figured I'd might aswell put it in.):
Mist III: Exlie:pc: (Now I only need IV) $3.99
Mist V: End of Ages:pc: (With cover) $4.99
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne:pc: (Ah. Good old Install disc's) $4.99

I swear I could make a profit selling the PC games from this place.
I alos missed out on a Saint's Row Double pack for $10. They couldn't find
the discs. Sigh

Next, from a Buybacks next to an Ohio Thrift Store:
Blade 1&2 (I already owned Trinity) $5 each
The Destroyed Beauty book from Gears of War Limited edition :360: 25¢
A 2007 poster of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" 25¢
The USB connector for Tony Hawk Ride :360:(I think for 360) 25¢
Total Annihilation Disc 1 :pc: 25¢

I only got the Tony Hawk Ride thing and the Total Annihihilation disc
because it was 4 items for $1

At one Ohio Thrift Store I got:
Max Payne (GH) :ps2: $3.75
Hitman Contracts :ps2: $3.75
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (GH) :ps2: $3.75
An assult rubber band rifle  $3.99

The place had a lot of video games from apparently the same guy. Each
was 20% off because of a sale and I couldn't resist. Unfortunetly I had to
pass on a Thompson M1A1 Airsoft rifle for $38.75 because it was eter the
games or the gun. Not sure if i made the right choice.

At Another Ohio Thrift Store I got:
Guild Wars :pc: (pretty much sealed) $3.99
Diablo Battlechest :pc: (Has everything, but the box is pretty much beat to
hell) $3.99

How do you guys think I did? I'm glad with all of my purchases, but I
wonder if i got good deals.

I might be able to get pic's if any of you guys want to see them, too.

Happy hunting!

Ditto. I have a feeling In gonna have to man up and pay ebay price for one.

Found some good stuff at goodwill today. They were running a 50% off all media.

Actually found some anime at one store I stop by after work a lot. Kinda funny story, I was talking with the manager and she asked me who old I was. I told her 23 and she's responds "alright, because one of my employees told me these were softcore porn."

I just started laughing and told her they were cartoons from Japan and she was happy I bought all of it.

Blassreiter part one and two $4 each (two is sealed)
Line barrels of iron $4 (sealed)
X complete series $6 (sealed)
Negima $10
Tokyo majin $4 (sealed, looked at amazon, does this really go for $150?!)
Disgaea $4 (sealed)
Jinki extend $4 (sealed)
STR.a.in. $6 (sealed)
Nabari part one and two $6 each)

Games:

The Playstation games were $1.50 each. I was really excited to see both MediEvals w/o scratches.
Other games were $2 each except battlefront 2... It was $10 picked it up Thursday.

Question for any gundam fans. Is this the EFSF Albion? I thought it was White base or Archangel at first glance but it's not those and that's the only other one I can think of.

not sure if this is that good, but i got Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Pokemon Colosseum, and the Pokemon Colosseum bonus disk; all in great condition and with the original cases.

Depends on the price.

Saw very little yesterday. Only thing I really saw was an N64 with a controller, the cords, and Army Men Sarge's Heroes 2 for $15.00. Thought about it but didn't have the expansion pack and I picked up an N64 the day before at a garage sale for $10.00 which I already need to sell... so I passed. But not a bad price. It was at an independent thrift I like, they don't get a ton but when they do get things they are very reasonably prices and from things that have lasted awhile, they aren't that commonly hit by resellers.

The rest of the thrifts, I saw almost nothing, very picked over.
If you see seemingly ridiculous prices for anime, do some quick research and check to see if it has been reprinted or re-released. If not, it's probably out of print, and yes, worth the ridiculous price.

I've sold several box sets of anime for $400+ simply because it was out of print (and those were used!).

In the case of Tokyo Majin - it looks like Funimation brought it out on their S.A.V.E. line, so no, probably not worth $150 since you can get a nearly identical set for $18.

Nice find on the Anime! I definitely would've spazzed over that kind of fine. Guess someone got tired of their anime and donated a part of their collection. The Tokyo one is the original release and oop, so that's why it costs that much. Haha. What a silly ignorant employee, obviously they don't know what they're talking about.

Yeah, I saw that it was rereleased in the SAVE line. Doubt I'll sell it but it will stay sealed until I get around to watching it, which may be awhile...

That would be PS3 if it's black or Wii if it's white.

PS3 controllers are usually the only ones to use dongles. Off-brand controllers almost always use dongles or are wired. Name brand is always wireless.

Afaik, the only Wii game to use a dongle for its peripheral is Tony Hawk Ride. Otherwise, Wii controllers use the GameCube port, the USB port, attach to the Wii Remote, or are fully wireless.

360 controllers are either fully wireless or wired. They never have dongles.

Stop by GW yet again since its right by work and I had lunch with a coworker today. Half off media says the sign.....sports, Sonic 2, and Guitar Hero 5. Same games that have been there, still dont want them at half the price. Ended up getting a complete Soviet Strike (PS1) for $1.67 that was between all the music cds. Used the rest of my Gamestop giftcard as well while I was out and got Mega Man X Collection for $15, its also complete.
$3 for a Dreamcast Bleemcast Gran Turismo.

Is this thing for real? Loads GT for the PSX through the Dreamcast?
Yup. They were a big deal at the time, also available for a few other games. They were originally set to come out for a bunch of games, but most got cancelled. I believe a lot that were never officially released eventually leaked online though.

Went to one of my Goodwills on my home. There was nothing in media cept the Official PS3 Headphone for 50 (Saw them for 10 or 15 at another one). They had a Xbox w/o wires, a Gamecube w/o wires and a Sega Dreamcast w/ wires and 2 controllers/VMUs for $20 each. I didn't feel like spending money, so I didn't get the Dreamcast. Hope I don't regret it. P.S. I already have the console, I'm just interested in the two controllers/VMUs since mine somehow broke.. If I'm lucky, it's still there next week and the deal tag would be yellow.

Picked up one of those Tennis Ball holder stands for 5.99 for my bro. Saw two half book shelves for 7.99 each. Might try and convince my mom to get it later.

i found a few things at 2 different stores today:
Xbox 360 power source (203w) and component cable $4
SNES power adapter $2
NES rf switch $2
Smurf Racer PS1 $2
Extreme games PS1 $2

Bought a copy of NBA Jam TE for Genesis and picked up some random music CDs. Otherwise, not much to be found at my local Good Will stores lately.

Had some nice finds from Goodwill the last few days for a change.

$1 1980 Risk
1000103yu.jpg

$2 Battleground
1000104u.jpg

$1 Key to the Kingdom
1000105.jpg

$10 Tomytronic Pacman electronic handheld (I probably overpaid on this)

$25 Zelda NES complete
$6 SMB 3 in box
$6 F15 Strike Eagle complete
$10 Punchout complete

Prices weren't great, but the boxes were in really good shape. I probably should have left Punchout. Zelda was pretty high, but if I wanted to sell it I guess I could still double my money so I don't feel too bad about it. Plus I can sell my old copy now. Passed on Terminator 2, Fester's Quest, Quattro Sports, and one or two others for $10 apiece. They also had a $15 PS1, $15 Xbox no controller, and a $20 NES.

$10 a piece for NES games at Goodwill boxed or not is insane. You did well with what you bought, but whoever priced Zelda at $25 must have been sniffing glue. You'll definitely be able to flip it for more than that on eBay if you so choose, but if Goodwill is just going to use eBay as a price guide in the first place, I'd much rather they just post them on there rather than insulting their customers.

Actually Goodwill has their own auction site(ShopGoodwill.com), so they don't need eBay for anything. I grabbed a couple items from there before when I snuck in a bid at the last second, but most of the halfway decent lots with 20 PS1 games or current gen consoles go to ridiculous prices anymore.
I've been leaving 4.99 NES games at my store...I guess I need to check ebay prices. I'm just used to getting them for .25-$1 each at g-sales.
The market has shot up huge for NES stuff, particularly if it's mint or complete. I'm of the same mindset you are, I was into NES collecting 15 years ago when you could buy damn near everything on the console at Funcoland for $3 or less, and now the idea of people paying any more than that for anything on the system (with some exceptions) just seems insane to me. Diminishing supplies and a resurgence in nostalgia have caused prices to rise however, particularly on the classic games we all grew up with. The unfortunate side effect of this is that ALL prices end up rising not just some. In 1998 people were LINING THEIR FLOORS with copies of Mario / Duck Hunt, but in 2012 idiots with a pricing gun at Goodwill think they might be able to squeeze 7 or 8 bucks out of it. If you are looking to flip NES games however, now is the time to strike while the iron is hot, because the market is going to eventually come back down to earth.
