Unbundled 40GB PS3s in the wild

FYI, this weekend I saw a whole stack/pallete of 40GB PS3s at the local Fry's without the Spiderman 3 Bluray movie pack-in. Guess we knew this was coming.....and yes it was still priced at $399

of course it's still 399, they're not gonna lower it for a BD that costs them pennies to throw in the box.

If they were to release the 80GB at $500 without Motorstorm, that would be a problem - this? Not so much.

The bundle was just a holiday special. MS and Sony both do this a lot.

The new 40GB box seems really drab, looks like they his the desaturate option in CS when desigining the cover. I saw it next to a 40GG/Spidey bundle and the new box looks like it had been out in the sun too long and had faded.
