Video camera deals

I'm now in the hunt for a video camera with a little one on the way. Anyone know where are some good places to look? I used to work for Bestbuy so I know there a rip off. Thanks! Not even sure what price is even good for a video camera lol.

Depends on what kind of form factor or technical level you're looking for. B&H or Adorama are good if you're looking for prosumer/serious hobbyist type stuff. They usually have decent kit deals and single units below MSRP. B&H's used equipment seems to go through pretty serious inspection, so you're less likely to get a lemon than with eBay. The major manufacturers of cameras for the news/production market (Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Canon) have some HD cameras that shoot in AVC format on SDHC cards for under $2k.

I'm guessing if you're just looking for something to record the kid, you can probably find cheaper point-and-shoots elsewhere. Sorry if that was too esoteric, news photojournalist here.
