"Postmortem" is a story I wrote several years ago as my way of putting to bed some ill feelings left over from my days working at a video game studio in Austin. One day we showed up for work, and found that we were locked out of the building. Before we knew it, the whole company was being liquidated.
A lot of the stuff in the story is true, but I won't get into specifics. Suffice it to say that the experience was kind of soul-crushing, and although I've worked in the industry since (as a freelancer), the whole nightmare made me drastically reevaluate my goals.
The story is quite brief (2200 words), and hopefully humorous in a Vonnegut sort of way. Here's the link:
