VIDEOGAME SELLERS TARGETED FRAUD info on half.com / ebay/ amazon

Damn I can't believe these addresses are still being used for this scam and Half/eBay is doing nothing about it? I've been selling random things on eBay lately & will remember to look here before I ship now.
Well, good old Dennis Dwyer is at it again. I got another order from him yesterday, this time he's hacked account `badabing3.0'.

It still blows my mind that these guys can hack accounts and rip so many people off for so long, sending things to the same address and not anything happening to them at all!

Sigh, here we go again. Once again, he's after my copy of Fable II, using the ID "nsxjet" and shipping to one of the addresses in the OP:

Julio Leon
2565 Ohio Ave
South Gate, CA 90280

Last time this happened, I actually hunted down the real owner of the Half.com account and alerted him to what was going on, but I don't think this one's going to be so easy. What are my options here? Just cancel his order? Alert Half.com to the hijacked account?
Scumbag scammers have to get Christmas presents too ;)

But seriously, if we have addresses where these packages are being sent to, why haven't the police become involved, especially with the amount of fraud and theft involved?

Ship to only confirmed paypal addresses. Refund if unconfirmed address. Better to get nps strike than losing money. Check their feedback rating. Ship as late as possible if you have concerns.

This clown Dennis Dwyer bought a game from me Thursday, November 26th. I haven't heard from half.com yet but thanks for the heads up through ebay wbc1228 . I did use delivery confirmation as always. Now that i am looking back on some orders he bought something from me 11-5 too.

I just wanted to thank the OP for this thread. I just stumbled across this thread looking at an Amazon section. I see this thread started at a time last year when I got a strange amount of chargebacks. I got screwed out of like $60 and stopped selling for a while. Looking at it, I got hit by Oneal Hamilton and Crystal Turner from this list. I've spent hundreds extra on Delivery Confirmation on everything I've sold now and months later, when I started selling again and started using DC, turns out the person that tried to screw me that I had delivery confirmation on was Crystal Turner again with the CY Turner. I'm half tempted to send some letter to half now seeing as I was scammed by people that are known problems. Who knows seeing as this Dennis Dwyer chump is still at it over a year later.

Just got scammed on half.com

buyer ID:

93.5suprat

Shipping address:
D Dwyer
11024 Balboa Blvd # 323
Granada hills, CA 91344
United States

I received the chargeback email this morning. Does anyone know If I used Delivery confirmation will I still get paid after the chargeback?

I just got two purchases from the same guy. 99turbogs and badabing3.0 - I realized something was up when I saw the same address to two different people and two different usernames. The names were Greg Williamson and and Dennis Dwyer. I haven't been charged back yet for the first one I already shipped. I just found this forum and I guess I shouldnt ship the next game?
I sent a few items using priority international and the items were never scanned by the post office.
If all your packages are going priority use a scan form. (see usps.com for details) It is free and provides point of shipment scan.

Chalk up 2 more chargebacks to J Leon in South Gate CA

As the authorities (half, my states AG) seem disinterested in pursing this matter on my behalf I suppose I will have to get creative.

Good start ... file mail fraud complaints against these addresses. I encourage all of you to do the same, the more people complain, the more it will help the postal inspectors identify a recurring pattern. I hope these ph00kers end up in the big haus

I suggest sending anthrax with the next game. It works for terrorists!

I bought a sealed copy of Xenogears from eBay seller rallyguy22. It turned out to be resealed and I filed a claim and won my $100+ back. Thought everything was done until user TonyBestBuy bought 3 GB games from me. I looked at the address and recognized it, realized it was the same guy who I bought Xenogears from:

*personal information removed*

Then I looked at his feedback left for others and he leaves tons and tons of negatives and seems to have a rep for it.

So I couldn't really do anything, sent out the games and last night he leaves me negative:

I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU TESTED THIS GAME? ONE SAD LITTLE BOY FOR CHRISTMAS!

I did test the game and he is a lieing piece of shit leaving retaliatory feedback. Add both users to your blocked bidders list if you don't want to get fucked over.

Isn't it against the ToS to have two accounts on eBay? Report the guy.

Nevermind, seems it isn't. Still, if he has a streak of leaving negative reviews eBay should do something about him.

EDIT- beaten to the punch : P - It is not against the TOS to have multiple accounts.** It's a good and a bad thing. I keep an account that I buy stuff with- but no longer sell with it (the higher the feedback I got- the more often I seemed to get scam attempts). The bad part comes from the sneaky garbage that exists on eBay to screw people over.

That being said- I don't really understand the op- but eBay with the bidders the last few years has been utter garbage. There's alot of "it's broken" negatives going on- and most just want a partial refund or something to that effect.

We recently had one ourselves. I had someone list a computer motherboard for me. (I know it was 100% working- I just bought it NOS to replace an identical one that had failed- I even helped type some descriptions while using the damn thing). The buyer waited a month- and left a negative that said "did not work, did not include XX (though it was clearly listed that it would not include XX) (without even trying to get in touch, no paypal claim, no response, nothing). I've got a dollar says that when I hear back it'll be "if you refund part of my purchase price I'll remove the negative!"

It's an increasingly common tactic to get monies back- in some cases to knock enough off to turn around and sell the item themselves. It's sad!

Anyways- OP- contact eBay- keep all your records. Since the addresses obviously match- I'm hoping they'll do something to help you out.

LilPaintBaller - I bought the Xenogears from him on his other account. It was resealed so I filed a claim with PayPal and won. He bought games from me with a different account and left retaliatory negative feedback.

Anhmeister - eBay should do something but they didn't. I reported him to their crappy investigation department which didn't do shit.

eBay is crap really, they always favor the buyer even when the buyer is in the wrong. They dont want bidders to stop using the site plus they figure for ever seller that goes elsewhere, 4 new ones pop up in his/her place. It has been worse i think since paypal and ebay joined forces. For more horror stories though (mostly about paypal) just check out www.paypalsucks.com

Dennis Dwyer just attempted the chargeback against me on a purchase made 11-5. Luckily i have tracking.

i called the powerseller support line, they investigated and banned him and removed my neg! and i'm still keeping the $20 he wasted to try to retaliate to me! everyone wins (except for him)

Amazon is worse. Even if you have delivery confirmation, you lose your case and your money. Plus fees are even higher than ebay.

Congrats on the outcome, darkslime!

Amazing, great job. I've been communicating with his other victims and trying to get him banned for months. He attempted to scam me out of a sealed Majora's Mask earlier this year. I didn't budge and he left me the only negative I've ever received. It's nice to see eBay finally took action - now both he and my neg are gone.

Glad it worked out for you. Too bad he didn't have a physical address (instead of a P.O. Box). I could have paid him a visit (not far from where I am).

I had a buddy get ripped off on Ebay from a guy in Illinois. After getting the run around from Ebay and Paypal, he realized we had a mutual buddy we were in the Army with together from the exact same city. My friend called our buddy, who went to the guy's house. Our buddy politely talked to the guy (stated he just wanted to get the money back instead of going through the court system).

Long story short, the guy (now scared out of his wits, never expecting someone to show up at his house) went to an ATM and got the money out.

Like everyone has stated, Ebay doesn't protect the Sellers anymore (more like Sellers Beware instead of Buyers Beware). After getting burned a couple of times myself and hearing stories from others, I try not to throw anything up unless it is brand new, sealed and/or was purchased at a B&M. You were very lucky.

Any chance you still have that power seller number? That would be good for all of us to have for potential problems in the future.

DAWG26 - ebay phone number: http://hubpages.com/hub/EBay_Phone_Number

just found it by googling "ebay powerseller phone number." I'm actually a powerseller but they didn't ask if I was a powerseller or not so it probably won't matter.

Space Cowboy YGI - A digitalpress member provided me with his address:

Anthony Vecchio
1401 N Main St
La Fayette, GA 30728-6435
(706) 638-1370

Feel free to send him shit, sign him up for gay porn newsletters, hannah montana wakeup calls, or just go there and pee on his house.

Uh, I don't believe you're supposed to post personal info like that.

If he's a scammer then it's okay.

It's most likely not his real name anyways.
fuck him, I'll post his info.
I hate douches like you. Yes, he wronged you first, but now you're going to try and ruin his life? It's probably tough learning social etiquette from the confines of your mom's basement, so you really have no idea how to react to situations...but generally, when someone on ebay messes with you, posting their screen name is good enough
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/faq.php?faq=cag_faq_item#faq_cag_community_rules

Pretty sure personal info, such as name/address/ph. number falls under this rule, whether he is or isn't a scammer.
Re-read this thread. There's tons of personal info posted in it (esp. names/addresses). And many of them aren't even known scammers, just people questioning whether they might be scammers. If we're going to start removing personal info then we should do it in all cases, not just selected cases.

I totally agree. What's the point in posting personal info? As stated above, ebay user ID is more than enough that's needed to warn others.

1) You do not understand the problem. They are using other people's IDs and changing the address to receive the item.

2) cheapy approved the thread before I created it.

3) We are listing the addresses since they have been used repeatedly.

4) The user ID is only used for 1-2 days for 20-100 transactions, then they move on. The only information that remains constant is the shipping address.

5) If a mod or cheapy would like to review the thread they are welcome and can make any changes they feel are needed.

This thread was started to cut down on the problem, since the sites are not policing it themselves.

I came into this thread planning on raising hell because there was tons of personal info in it and complaining about my thread being deleted, but luckily my thread was merged.

I posted his personal info to WARN YOU. No, I'm not going to do anything with his address and try to ruin his life, I said that sarcastically in a joking manner, but if any other CAG gets a purchase from someone with that address, they should be very cautious and cancel the transaction. I'm sure that tonybestbuy has already made another account since his is banned. He had multiple accounts before so I don't think he would think anything is wrong with making another, but will probably still use the same address.

He screwed me too. Paypal just today ruled against me.

I just got hit by parkbballer54 today.
I googled the name and I came across this thread.
I wish I knew about this before I shipped copy of RE5 back in Oct.
Well, I do have DC. Hopefully, half doesn't debit my account.

Huh. Something weird happened to me on Paypal recently - some guy paid me in Euros then Paypal emailed me something about an unauthorized transaction.

Now, I've never sold ANYTHING on Paypal so I have no idea what that was about.

Supposedly it's 'resolved' but I'm not sure what happened. I haven't actually checked my bank account to see I didn't get screwed somehow. I should probably do that...

AMEN to that!

I am out $150 and a nice trading card because I neglected to purchase insurance for a rather expensive trading card. I dropped the package off at the post office and it hasn't been seen since...DC never updated...USPS ignored my pleas for help...

Lessons learned: ALWAYS buy insurance for expensive items; Ask to have your items scanned in at the PO if your purchase postage through PayPal, never trust the USPS...grrrrr...
