They DO charge you for the $20.00 giftcard when you use it. I ordered Reach and used the $20.00 gift card on Black Ops and got charged $20.00. But when the game ships, they only charge $39.99. So it works itself out.

Wait, just to clarify.. So if you preorder a game with a $20 gift card, you pay $20 immediately for the gift card itself and then 39.99 for the game when it ships? Does the gift card get sent right away?

It almost sounds like you used the $20 gc from Reach to preorder Black Ops, got charged $20 for the Black Ops gc offer and still had to pay $39.99 out of pocket for Black Ops.

Maybe my brains just not working right, I only got like 3 hours of sleep LOL

I think he's just saying that if you want to use a giftcard for preordering, then the giftcard amount is applied immediately, just like how Amazon does it.

Hey man i got gift cards for free from a cool website i found well it was so easy i just signed up, got some points by doing surveys, then i ordered my prize from amazon or ebay. you can order anything you want i have ordered a lot of things. well i cant give you the link because this website does not let me so if you want it email me at [email protected] if you need any help or if you would like me to email the link to your friend just email me

It's a little different...

With Amazon your credit card is not charged until the item ships and you don't get the game credits until after the item ships. Amazon game credits are non transferable, they expire after a specified date and they can only be used on video games.

With Wal-Mart you get the e-gift card immediately after you place an order and there will be a hold on your credit card for the total amount. Since you get the gift card immediately, Walmart counts the order as being processed so you can't change the order or change your shipping address. However, your e-gift card can be given to someone else, it does not expire and you can use it on anything on Walmart.com or Samsclub.com.

Great list, I can't thank you enough for getting this together and doing all that work. Black Ops and Fable III look like great deals...Black Ops especially.
 
Thanks for the list. I want that NBA 2k11 but would be better if they gave a $20 gc instead of $10. Eh, hopefully like most of the sports games, if I want a month or so, it will come down in price.

Ismael0p: Not sure, but most likely the Gift Card deals with expire after the game comes out as most of them are pre-order deals I believe.

Although some might still apply after launch like Kane And Lynch 2 (that already came out yet is still on the list).
 
Is it possible to do in store pickup? Obviously the e-giftcard will remain an online thing, but would I be able to select to pick it up at my local store (at 12:01 on launch day) instead of have it shipped?

I'm sorry but I'd rather ask then go through the hassle of making a new account just to find out, especially since someone else is bound to wonder the same thing.

EDIT: that is to say, pick it up at my local store, and STILL get the gift card.

D'oh, I was thinking Fallout New Vegas had a $20 gift card but it is only $10. I was all excited....looks like Black Ops is the leader now. :(

Yes if its a shipping option. I think you can also use the e-giftcard to buy a physical giftcard and pick that up at the store.
 
So I just won a $100 Wal-mart gift card from work. I'm trying to figure out the best way to use it.

What are the specifics of this preorder 3 get a $50 gift card thing? Of that list, I want Halo Reach, Black Ops, and Scribblenauts. Is there any way to chain credit from one to the other?
