Changing this to a FAQs for those that need some help getting these deals.

When I order online it shows X price for in store, but changes to Y price at checkout, what gives?
You can only do in store pickup for the clearance price if the item is available for pick up that day. If it isn't the price will be the online price instead. Sometimes the item will be shipped to that store if it is no longer at that store. It may adjust to the clearance price at pickup but it could also charge you full price for it.

Can I buy the item at one store and return / rebuy at another?
Yes but it is up to the stores discretion to allow you to get it for that stores in store price. If it is an online order, they are supposed to return it to the warehouse it came from so you will not be able to buy it back. It's YMMV on employees following this rule though.

Can I price match a Walmart clearance item at X store?
No. No store, including Walmart, PMs clearance prices. YMMV on getting PMs for these items but it is against every stores policy to do so.

I want to price match this clearance item at another Walmart, will they allow me to?
No WM (or any retailer) PMs the prices of other local stores.

BS said X of an item is in stock, but the employee said it isn't at my store, why did they lie to me?
They didn't. Sometimes items are misplaced, stolen, or the count is off. Employees are not all over the massive stock room nor do they know where every item is. Don't harass an employee or come on here saying they are keeping it for themselves. Sometimes, an item truly isn't in the store.

Why is BS always wrong?
BS is not wrong. Their information is directly from WM systems. Just like all stores, inventory and prices may be wrong for a certain store. Do not rely only on BS.

How do I find clearance items?
Go to the store and scan items, check SD, check this thread. Actually look for something you want.

Where in the store are clearance games located?

Clearance items in general can be on shelves, in dedicated clearance sections or in the stock room. For games specifically, they will be in the videogame glass cases, videogame value game isle or dedicated clearance section. It's random and depends on that stores layout / management.

What is the SKU or item number of this item?
Look it up yourself. There is a search function on this site, on BS site and you can Google the item almost 100% of the time. No one needs to spoon feed you this information and we shouldn't have 20 people asking for the same information that was already posted.

Acronyms to know.
WM = Walmart
PM = Price Match
TRU = Toysrus
BS = Brickseek
SD = Slickdeals

It's too bad I broke down and bought both SAO & Tsubasa on eBay for $35 each after coming up empty last week, but tonight's haul more than made up for it...
Amazing Post. Thanks man. Just got Tsubasa, Streets of Rage 4, and Quantic Dream Collection. Sadly my store was out of My Hero Ones Justice 2. They did have SAO Alicization but I passed.

Wasn't paying attention to this thread in awhile, just happened to browse Switch section while doing shopping and saw Ni No Kuni, tag said $10 so grabbed it. They had a couple other games people listed here but tags weren't updated so may go back tomorrow. Thanks!

Your area is a gold mine, wish I could find outer worlds for $5 and farpoint for $4. Not a store around me has outer worlds discounted. I did manage to find wasteland 3 and captain tsubasa for $20
Outer Worlds did finally sell out this morning at the one location with all the deals. I missed the cheap Sekiro there, but you can't win them all... Farpoint has been languishing at the Walmart closest to me for months. Let me know if you want a copy & I can grab one next time I head out there. There's multiple copies and they have the wrong price so they will be there for a while...

Another link dump for my own OCD...as always, all credit goes to the original posters. The first listed price is the MSRP, and the second price is the lowest seen price, either in person or via BrickSeek.

I will add more links as I go further back into the thread as well as any new deals that people come up with. Happy hunting, fellow CAGs! Wear your damn masks and stay safe this holiday season!

Got Ni No Kuni (Switch), Disney Tsum Tsum (Switch) Titan Quest (Switch), de Blob (Switch), Trine 4 (Switch) and two copies of Rocket League (PS4) today.

Rocket League may as well be given out for Halloween this year, it's so cheap.

Got Terraria Switch for $10 and I also got Xcom 2 Collection for Switch for $20. Both marked clearance and in the case.
I went for Terraria so glad to get Xcom 2 as well.

Saw that Dragon Ball FighterZ was $5 at the store near my house so I grabbed a copy, big thanks for all the people that pointed it out.

Went back to the same Walmart today now that I know what was on clearance. Wound up gettingfor Switck Terraria, Super Lucky Tale, Sine Mora, Portal Knights and Trine Collection. Everything was the lowest reported prices except Trine Collection was $20, but I've been wanting that. Also found Medevil for PS4 for $5, it said they had We Happy Few for .03cent but couldn't find it.

Lucky for you with the XCOM 2 Collection. Best I'm seeing in the area is $29.83. Same goes for Bioshock and Borderlands Collections. But they've been on sale at like $30 online anyway.

Went to a usual walmart of mine to look for Ace Combat 7 that brickseek said they had it for 5 bucks. Couldn't find it and while I was looking around at their blu-rays, on a whim I saw they had one lone unit of The Pacific on blu-ray in the metal tin. The shelf said $24.96, I scan it on the app and it comes up 5 bucks. Snatched that up right quick I did! Brickseek Link: https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=14658777

I then went to another Walmart that was close by and while I was digging through the boxes of clearance games I find a random copy of Apex Legends Bloodhound Edition for XBO for 3 cents. I bring it to the electronics dude prepared thinking he'd make a stink but he just rings me up and even jokes that he didn't have two pennies to give me back. I then go to the receipt checker and he just glances at the receipt and I left.

Been eyeing TMNT MIM on XB1 for a while at rural walmart I stop by about once a month. They have had several copies for months at $11 and I finally bit since the copies seem to be dwindling; keeping that receipt though. Also grabbed a copy of FFXV on XB1 for $4.

If I've stopped for the receipt-checker doorperson in the past it's because I've chosen to but I'm not going to even bother anymore after having bad experiences. A month or two ago I was shopping at one store around opening time and got stopped by the guy. Not anyone else, just me. About 5-10 mins later I came back in to make another purchase and got stopped again by the same dude, and again, just me and not other people. Seriously annoying and I didn't say it out loud but I honestly was thinking that it felt like racial profiling. Then this past weekend I was shopping at another location, made a purchase in electronics, but when I went past the registers at the front to leave there was a line a mile long for the receipt-checker. I'm like screw this I AM NOT waiting on this to leave with my perfectly legitimate purchase. I walked past everyone to exit and the guy tried to accost me and I just flat out told him that A) sorry, but I refuse to wait on the ridiculous line and B) they have no right to check anyway and I don't have to show them anything.

They place these receipt-checker people at the door to put the idea or suggestion out there that they have some kind of right to examine your purchase(s) but they don't. There is no law or regulation that gives them the right to do this and most people just either don't really care enough to protest or don't know any better. It's honestly all bullshit. Once you've paid for an item it legally becomes your property and this practice is frankly an invasion of your privacy. I know the exit doorperson is just doing what they were told to do but at times it is quite annoying, obnoxious, a hassle, and I for one will not stand for it anymore. I am absolutely done with it and from now on will simply be leaving without putting up with the nonsense. fuck them.

Maaaaaaaaaaan, I wanna see you try that ish at Sam's Club bruh, old lady will wreck ya, Khabib submission style.. j/k man

but d@m,. I didn't know they still did that to be honest.. mainly cuz, well can't even say Covid-19, but for the last year or so they do have them there but all they really do is jus greet ya when you come in and every once in a while they say goodbye when ya leave, but I honestly thought they stopped checking receipts cuz it hasn't happend in a long, long time, and fa'sho I ain't the right shade its not that in what I seen...

I know the exit doorperson is just doing what they were told to do but at times it is quite annoying, obnoxious, a hassle, and I for one will not stand for it anymore. I am absolutely done with it and from now on will simply be leaving without putting up with the nonsense. fuck them.
I understand. That's fine if you don't want to stop. But at places like Costco (and I believe Sam's Club) it's within the membership rules or else they can and will revoke your membership status.

If you don't like getting stopped at Walmart, generally speaking they won't say anything to you when you leave the store if your item is inside of a bag. I've had multiple workers say to me "oh it's fine; your purchase is in a bag".

The other thing that I'd do if I felt the same way as you is I'd openly carry my receipt in my hands as I'm leaving. Go from the register to the front door with your receipt in your hand the whole time, where they can see it, and that alone will cut out the majority of confrontations. If they holler at you, then just wave with your receipt hand and be on your way. Cuz like you said, they don't have the right.

It's good that you realize that they are just doing their jobs. People steal from Walmart constantly.

The ones that I go only for the big item, like if you have a TV in your cart they check for a TV on the receipt and youre good to go. Typically of its 3 bags or less they don't care 🤣

I imagine they probably do profile a bit just from noticing who they are checking when I get stuck behind people. I would say I get stopped for a check less than 5% of the time. That said I typically make small shopping runs (I avoid carts and go with a basket), have all items bagged, receipt in hand, and have a fairly "clean cut" look and dress. Anytime I recall getting stopped it was due to a bulky, unbagged item...like a TP mega pack or something. I also imagine they are hit hard with shoplifting, probably big ticket items too; people probably just roll right out the doors with stuff on the regular.

Calm down
If I've stopped for the receipt-checker doorperson in the past it's because I've chosen to but I'm not going to even bother anymore after having bad experiences.

Well that makes me glad I don't shop at Costco and Sam's Club then. Good to know, thanks. Cuz I wouldn't put up with this there either. From my perspective it just rubs your legit customers the wrong way and makes them want to not shop there anymore. Don't have to deal with this crap at Target or Best Buy here -- they are more respectful.

And I did openly carry the receipt in my hand as you said and as far as the bag thing that has not been my experience at the Walmarts around here. They seem to want to check regardless. As if it being in a bag somehow makes it's any more legitimate somehow. Like you can't walk in with you own bag(s), right? Especially now that there is a mandate here that just took effect to charge extra bag fees for them. Also, what if I go into the store and bring a satchel or a backpack to carry my stuff? You gonna want to search that too? GTFO.

As if I needed more of a reason to be cynical in this day and age of these soulless and morally bankrupt corporations that will routinely violate various ethical lines that shouldn't be crossed with respect to everything from the treatment of their customers to their own employees, or even privately scoffing public health concerns and regulations in a global pandemic to put profits ahead of people's lives (no matter the tragic cost) all while putting on a facade and false PR campaign that they are somehow doing the 'right' things (*cough* GameStop *cough*).

Yeah, each store is different and the high-theft stores will institute their own rules as they see fit.  If it's a crappy store then I wouldn't go there anymore.  We have choices as consumers, afterall.

I remember working at circuit city back in the day and having to wrap cds in packaging tape to make the packaging harder to cut open. It seemed like a pain in the ass for the legit customer who had to deal with all the tape.

I worked for 3 years in Loss Prevention at Best Buy.  It was an ok job, but I had to do stuff that made me feel like a jerk all the time, like receipt-checking, passing out flyers to customers as they come in (of course everyone is just immediately looking for where they can throw it away), etc.  One that I thought really crossed the line was when they asked me to stop customers if they were leaving the store without buying anything, and ask them WHY they weren't buying anything.  Every single person gave the same look when asked that.  Bewilderment and annoyance.

Holy shit, take a chill pill man. It sucks that you are a minority and this could be considered racial profiling. But I'm white, I look young, I shop alone, and I wear hoodies. I got stopped ALL the time before the pandemic. Anyone can steal, but give people the benefit of the doubt unless you have clear evidence. Then record it and take it up with the store manager.

You're right, they can't take your 3 cent games because they don't agree with the price after you already made the purchase. But you also missed a crucial fact: they have the right to detain you for not allowing them to check your receipt, citing that the reason you didn't allow them to verify the contents of your bag is because you stole something. That is considered probable cause to keep you for much longer than it would've taken them to check your receipt. Checking receipts is such a trivial thing, so most likely nobody will. But if you ARE being discriminated against, then you throwing a fit is a means to and end for the racists. I mean, you might be able to take the person to civil court over that, but I doubt anything good will happen for you. Walmart itself will trample all over you if you try to sue them.

To reiterate, receipt checking is so trivial. Who the fuck cares if they approve of the items they sold you? Sale already happened, call the police yourself if they try to take back their items. Also, fuck them if you're buying weird shit and they look at you funny. There's just no reason to get an aneurysm over the employee trying to prevent people from stealing things.

If you're being discriminated against, take it up with the store manager to get the racist fired and save all the other people in your demographic from being profiled. None of us on this message board can help you resolve your problem.

This is dangerous piece of advice that everyone should ignore. I always just show my receipt when asked but most of the time I walk pass and they say nothing.

In Walmart, the only reason for a checker to check your receipt is if you don't have an item bagged as that's the best way for them to see that you paid as you shouldn't be able to bag your items without paying. Big items can't be bagged so those will usually always be checked. Outside of that, stores may implement a random check every x customers too. But it's a big coincidence to be asked twice when your items are bagged on the same day.

Anyways, if you do refuse though, they are not the law. It doesn't matter that they think you stole something, they need to prove you did. They are not the police though and can not detain you for any reason. They can try, and it's wise to just go with them or just show your receipt, but don't let anyone hold you against your will that isn't an officer. Now if you did steal, just give back the stuff but stores are supposed to let lost prevention handle such things. If they can't get you to willingly come, that's when they need to get police involved.

"Probable cause is a requirement found in the Fourth Amendment that must usually be met before police make an arrest, conduct a search, or receive a warrant."

Keyword, police. So no, a walmart store employee can not enforce probable cause, as they aren't law enforcement. Don't tell people that BS again.

his advice is fine, what are the odds you not going show a receipt, their going suspect your hiding something and it not be true, to the point you will fight them over it? it good your letting people know their rights but I can guarantee two thing.

1 ) nobody innocent is reading this random form and you post, is going face this very specific issue and not show a receipt and then have to defend their right to not have something search.

2 ) nobody guilty is going care, they will been doing whatever they want regardless what is allowed.

the only time I ever seen anyone stop and detained  is when they know for a fact you stole and walked out the door, am sure like cops their true stories off bad apples, does not make it a common thing we need worry about it. show a  receipt, you life not so short that 1-3 mins is going kill you or if you really are that entitled try shopping online and save everyone some times.

Checked one wally on the way home today, struck out on everything $1 and below. Did get a couple bags of mole bait on clearance.... because fuck moles!

Interesting discussion.

I never usually buy enough at wally to ever raise a flag... only time I've ever been asked to check a receipt was when I got Greenworks mower / trimmer / blower on clearance and put them all in a normal cart...  and the other time was walking out without a cart holding 4 Nintendo Labo kits because I was only expecting 2 in stock... :whee:

As I said, you don't have to put up a fight. There are more important things to worry about. Just show your receipt. But they are wrong in saying they have probable cause and can keep you. That is a lie. Only law enforcement can have probable cause. If Walmart wants to hold you, you have to willingly agree to that, or else it becomes a police matter.

Still, just show your receipt if asked, it's isn't the hill you need to die on.

Random related story.

This was a couple of years ago but I walked into a store that had a bunch of 3 cent games. I bought most of them. I'm leaving and they ask for a receipt, great, I show it to them. They proceed to take my items and call a manager. I know 3 cent games are normally supposed to be sent back but they can still be sold. I didn't see what the problem was.

I asked why that's needed and they wanted to verify the price. Ok, the price is marked in electronics as 3 cents. They didn't believe me and still wanted a manager. I'm patient though but after 15 minutes I told them to just go to electronics and see for yourself. They didn't want to nor did they believe me.

I decided to start walking back there with my stuff. They follow and see that it was marked as 3 cents. They said I could have changed the prices. How the hell would I, a random customer, have the ability to do that?

Anyways, told them I already proved I bought this stuff with my receipt and it is clearly marked. I'm not going to be waiting here any longer unless you can prove I stole something. I walked out the store and another person tried to stop me. At this point I already showed my receipt to multiple people and waited almost 30 minutes in the store for something I bought. I just walked pass that last person as I wasn't having it anymore.

Nothing came of it because I already bought my item and they had no proof that I stole anything nor could they hold me against my will.
