I may wait to get feedback from people who have done this already to make sure that a) we really only need to send in the sleeve, not the case or disc and b) we do actually get new (or at least complete) Blu-Ray discs.
Go to the frontpage. On the bottom left, there is a clickable link that says 'Program Rules'

Open that pdf file and you'll see :hd: cases and discs are NOT needed.
You mean exchange.

...sorry, just being a dick.
Heck, in some cases going blu is a downgrade

:whistle2:#

-------------------------

My eligible titles:

300
The Adventures of Robin Hood
The Assassination of Jesse James
Blue Planet
A Christmas Story
Justice League: The New Frontier...
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Lethal Weapon: Director's Cut
National Lampoon's Christmas
Out For Justice
Pan's Labyrinth
Purple Rain
Ultimate Matrix Collection
Unforgiven: Special Edition

For a total of $92.xx after taxes.

Since a majority of my WB titles were bought used, I hope the inserts aren't trashed.

Mine are Blade Runner, Firewall, Full Metal Jacket, I Am Legend, Oceans Eleven, Oceans Twelve, and Oceans Thirteen. Looking at my shelf however, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory seems to be missing from said WB list. I'm going to have to pass tho, I still don't have a PS3 or a good blu player, nor do I have any blu discs yet and I have 40 HDDVDs, some I haven't watched yet. Some of these like Blade Runner with the $15 price ruins it tho.
Looking at my shelf however, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory seems to be missing from said WB list.
Nice catch. I wonder why it's left off? I have that one too.

I can't really justify an exchange for anything... even though most of my HD-DVD's weren't even $10, if they are around that mark as an average, that's basically like I paid $15+shipping, which if it's just a few titles makes the total cost closer to $20. I know I'd then essentially have a BD and HD-DVD for the price of one movie, but this double dip just wouldn't make sense for most of my movies (and I don't think I have many WB movies anyway). I really don't think there will be any problem with finding a HD-DVD/BD player in the future - that's what I have now. They both use the same laser don't they? (Although engadget said
The differing track pitch of the Blu-ray disc makes its pickup apertures differ, however -- 0.65 for HD DVD vs. 0.85 for Blu-ray -- thus also making the two pickups technically incompatible despite using the same type of lasers.
I still think it won't be too hard to add it in to future models. I really don't think it'll be like I have 50 HD-DVD's and nothing to play them on).
Nice catch. I wonder why it's left off? I have that one too.
I dont think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is available on blu ray yet
Nice catch. I wonder why it's left off? I have that one too.
Its not out on Blu as of right now which is why its not listed. Same with Smallville Season 5 and The Complete Matrix Collection.

so is everyone going to make scans of the hd covers they are sending in? Just curious if theres any particular resolution etc that i should watch out for.

What paper should I print these out on?

I might send in my supermans.. hoepfully they send out the superman returns with hd audio back
For those with the :hd: ULTIMATE Matrix Collection:

The Animatrix is in 1080p on the :br: set.
is that better or worst than the hd dvd version?

I only have the Complete Matrix Trilogy, but The Matrix in that set is the same as buying it individually. So, if you wanted to get the digibook on the cheap, this is a good way to do it.
is that better or worst than the hd dvd version?
Animatrix :hd: Standard Definition 480p

Animatrix :br: High Definition 1080p

I dunno, you tell me.

I imagine better since what can 1080p be worse than?

*goes to look for cheap warner hd-dvds to flip*

edit: got beat by like 3 posts about animatrix

My thinking is that on Amazon or eBay, I'll pick up a 10 pack of those empty Blu-Ray cases that can hold two discs. I'll put the HD disc in with the Blu and have a prettier shelf.

Oh that would be pretty cool actually...

Even though I don't have a blu player yet, this is definitely damn tempting.

WB HDs I have on the list:

300
Adventures of Robin Hood, The (1938)
Appleseed Saga:Ex Machina:LE (2D)
Batman Begins
Blade Runner: Complete Collector's ** ($14.95)
Blazing Saddles: 30th Anniversary
Blood Diamond
Casablanca: Special Edition
Departed, The: Special Edition
Full Metal Jacket
Justice League: The New Frontier...
March of the Penguins
Matrix, The [Note: Blu-ray version is the 10th Anniversary Digibook.]
Pan's Labyrinth
Superman II: Richard Donner Cut, The
TMNT

I am not sure how many i have, i am trying to figure out if its worth it. I guess i should start with figuring out how many i have. Obviously its best to do it in one shot. (i averaged from 3-5$ per HD, so that would make them roughly 7.95-9.95 per blu ray).

Did you guys get the confirmation e-mail immediately? It's been like 2 or 3 hours, and still no show, so I don't have a way to ship the cover art.

So just to get this straight, the only thing we have to send in from our HD-DVD copies is the artwork? I wouldn't really mind having a disc-only HD-DVD and a brand new shiny Blu-Ray :whistle2:k

These are the ones I have from the list:

Batman Begins
Casablanca: Special Edition
Constantine
Harry Potter (#1)
Harry Potter (#2)
Harry Potter (#3)
Harry Potter (#4)
Planet Earth: The Complete... ($9.95)
Scanner Darkly, A

I definitely have to do this for at least Planet Earth (gives me trouble) and Casablanca.

Does anyone know what version of Planet Earth you get (BBC or Discovery)? EDIT: The coverart has the BBC logo in the upper left corner, so I assume its the BBC version. Awesome

They adjusted the price of Nip Tuck--this morning it was $4.95, now up to $9.95. Wonder if they will fix Blade Runner and drop that down by $5.

Was within minutes, but like I said above, make sure to check your spam/junk folder, because mine got re-routed there. I'd guess it would have been sent by now, but maybe their system is getting roughed up as people are getting home from work and blu-ing their reds.

Crap... I threw out that little slip of paper attached to my Ultimate Matrix Collection, which they apparently want for the upgrade... I called them and they said they were looking into it and would "get back to me". That's probably the most important one there...

same here :bomb:
hmm.. Planet Earth is on the list. Heard the BR version looks better.
You are the biggest idiot on this site.

That's what it sounds like...just send that little case that looked like an envelope and you should be good.

Are the inserts worth anything? It's a great trade in for an insert.
A sealed Appleseed sold for ebay for $20 + shipping, but it's like $80 on the Amazon Marketplace.

Anyone know about free items? My 300 doesn't have a UPC since it came free with the player.

It's not that the insert is cut up--it just doesn't have a UPC on it.

Here's my list of Warner HD-DVD's:

300
Batman Begins
Constantine
The Departed
Harry Potter 1-5
I Am Legend
The Shining
Troy (regular cut)
V for Vendetta

I just went to the website and it would cost me $64.35 plus $7 shipping to swap them all out for blu-ray.
The fact that my HD-A2 won't pass a 1080p signal versus the Blu-Ray and PS3 combo is about the most compelling argument in my mind. Considering I haven't even cracked the plastic on half of these HD-DVD's yet makes me wonder if its worth the hassle.

My other consideration is that depending on the movie, you could probably flip some of these blu-ray replacements on e-bay and make a nice profit assuming you trade in enough to defray that $7 shipping cost.

I called and they said it needs to have a UPC. Although for the Harry Potter set they tell you to send the case from the 1st disc--which doesn't have a UPC either.

yeah i plan on selling mine when i do this. Here are mine

Departed, The: Special Edition
Blood Diamond
Batman Begins
Blazing Saddles: 30th Anniversary Special Edition
Goodfellas
The Last Samurai
Lethal Weapon: Director's Cut
Lethal Weapon 2: Director's Cut
Letters From Iwo Jima
Full Metal Jacket: Deluxe Edition
The Perfect Storm
Sopranos, The: Season 6 Part 2
Superman, The Movie
Troy Director's Cut (Unrated)
Training Day
The Ultimate Matrix Collection

total price: (including shipping) 101.15

Super tempted for the Matrix Collection, especially since at least 1 of the combo discs skips on me bad... kind of wish I hadn't imported Animatrix from the UK just to get the Bluray version of that, but oh well.

I will probably keep the majority of my HD-DVDs on HD-DVD just because I got them so cheap, it starts hurting the deals to pay $5-$6 on average.... Of course if my HD-DVD player dies that would kind of mess things up too.

It'd be great if someone could compile a list of "definitively better on Blu" WB titles. I think Matrix is a definite.

Awesome deal for someone not as much thinking in terms of a "collection" of HD-DVDs, though. (and it's funny how WB going Blu is what ended the format war, yet they released HD-DVDs the longest of the US studios and now offer a trade in.. they're taking the best care of HD-DVD owners!)

Anyone know a good site to print out replacement covers? I counted I have 8 HD-DVD's and my HD-DVD player broke. After I get them might sell them with the replacement covers.
hope you havent sent in anything as Appleseed Ex Machina HD DVD is worth more than blu ray version, and 300 is better on hd dvd as well
This is like the 3rd time I've read "300 is better on HD-DVD!" in this thread. I went to look up why and it's only because the HD-DVD has this "HDi" feature which lets you do some picture in picture comparisons.

I personally don't give a shit about that, but even for people who do, it's not like Warner is taking away your disc; you'll still have it to watch the extra feature if you choose.
