Weekday MMO Night?

Sideswiper

CAGiversary!
I, like many people, solo my way through most MMOs. I can't help but feel I'm doing it wrong... MMOs have to be more enjoyable while playing with other people.

Would anyone be interested in having a weekly MMO meetup? I think we'd have a rule that you can't advance your character without the group... no questing or grinding. You can always play your main character for that.

We could do this true Cheap Ass style and do a free game such as Requiem: Bloodymare, or Mabinogi, or Atlantica, or Archlord.

As far as paid games, I'd be interested in trying this with Age of Conan, or EQ2, or City of Villians. Otherwise I might even be willing to buy a new game if I meet likeminded people who are willing to have a weekly group.
Have fun out there!

Well, I'm on AoC and Guild Wars.

I'd be pretty interested in doing this, but the pay-for-play nature of most MMO's might mean small groups on that end.

I'd certainly be up for this, but I would suggest guild wars. I don't know if people would be cool with paying subscription fees for a game that they only play 4 or 5 nights a month.

Well you can play the game with a different character all you like. You would have an alt that you play with the "static group" four or five nights a month.

I don't enjoy Guild Wars at all, so that is out for me.

So far I'm thinking Age of Conan, or Requiem: Bloodymare (free), or Atlantica Online (beta key available at mmorpg.com, free). I've put out posts like this on a few different forums and I'll followup on this in a couple of days depending how much interest I've gotten.

I'd be up for Guild Wars and Mabinogi.

And in true cheapass-style, might I suggest Final Fantasy XI? From what I hear, you absolutely cannot solo in that game, so we'd have to group anyway. It's obviously more polished than a free MMO, the starter pack comes with a free 30 days, and it's only $1.99 at your local Gamestop or EB Games (http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=65797).

They've also revamped (revamping?) the buddy system to the one like in City of Heroes/Villains.

..must resist....the crack...pipe!....

Can you beat Atlantica or Bloodymare? Another reason I'd like to do Guild Wars is the fact that we'd have a tangible goal to work towards if we all start new characters, since the game has a set story, we could "beat" it, unlike most MMO games.

Then it has the added bonus of all the elite areas we could still play even after we've beaten the storyline.

I already do a weekly MMO thing in Everquest 1 with Nostalgia the Guild. We meet once a week on friday and are always looking for more members.

Should have linked your own thread crystalklear, I thought this idea was going nowhere.

Let's start talking about getting a game together.

Oh no... I think I may pick all those up. I got one of the expansions for 0.75 at circuit city a few months back. Since it's so cheap, might as well try it out.
