It's a scam clearly. The return address is yahoo.com. You think microsoft is going to use yahoo as their email client?

edit: I mean there are plenty of other reasons why it's a scam, but that's a nice clear one.

MAKE WAY FOR THE S-O-VEEEE!

If you haven't yet figured out what spam is, you should probably stay away from the internet for awhile.

 That made me laugh, gotta love these "Hey I just learned to barely speak English, time to start spamming" scammers.

Ya know, if all of the Nigerian money scams I receive in an average week(hell, an average DAY anymore) were legit, I'd be a multi billionaire by now.

What you received is a typical scam email, much like the ones that say 'if you post this on XYZ sites, (major company name) will give you their (product they make) for free for LIFE!!'.

I don't know why, but I've received about 10-20 of these a week for the past 6 months easily. I'm popular to the Nigerian scammers, I guess.

answer i got from microsoft:
Hello,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Customer Service.

This is Angie and I am writing in response to your report about the message you received claiming that Microsoft is sponsoring a lottery.

Microsoft is aware of this issue and working to improve online safety and to put the spammers and scammers out of business through:
· Legislation, Public Policy, and Enforcement
· Education and Awareness
· Industry Collaboration
To see additional information on the steps Microsoft is taking to promote online safety, please visit this site: http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/safety/default.mspx
There are also several steps that you can take to avoid these types of emails:
· Use a spam filter.
· Reserve one e-mail address for family and friends, ideally a unique address with both letters and numbers. This will help to avoid emails sent to multiple common email addresses.
· Do not respond to unsolicited e-mail from unknown senders. Asking to be removed from their lists may only encourage more spam.
For more information on steps you can take to protect yourself, please visit: http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/email/spam.mspx
For additional information, please refer to the following Web sites:
· Avoid the “Microsoft Lottery” phishing scam - http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/phishing/lottery.mspx

Thank you,

Angie

I should tell you that my name is Chris Hansen, and we're conducting a story on Nigerian scammers who try to convince individuals to do strange things with their genitals over the internet.

LOL The spam you see in an average day......:whistle2:X Some of it is laughable, from the knock off and fake pill emails, to the Nigerian scammers, to the 'lottery' scams. I've even been sent checks before, which would bounce as high as the Empire State Building if I were ever stupid enough to try and cash them.

So, I've seen them all......but never fallen for one of them.

That was one of the funniest videos I've ever seen on the internet.
