What is Your Job and Do You Like It?
I'm in my last year of law school and I'm working part-time for a small law firm that specializes in immigration.
I'm so sorry.

Tomorrow I'm going back to work for the first time since July 3 and I'm not happy about it... time for bed!

Military Journalist at Air Force News. This position has been great because I get to travel a ton and the jobs decently exciting. Mainly a writer but just about done in a 2 month photo class so I will be taking more pics. previously did my job at a base for 6 years which was a lot more bland.

Just finished an Internship (and College) and will be looking for a graphic design job. My internship was at a local paper making classified ads and other ads for local businesses. They had really old software (Quark 4 or something, and Photoshop 9) that I did pick up quickly, and graphic design is really fun. Good people to work with there. They offered me a part time job and sounded like they were interested in having me do some reporting for them too. Would be a great variety of tasks everyday.

It's great to be involved in something where you feel completely confident and capable in what you're doing day to day.

Planing on going into news for a network or anything down the road? Possibly as a reporter or writer. I also work in the field (not military, just local news) so I was just curious.

I'm guessing from that statement and your title of Drug-Dealer-Keeper-Awayer, you yourself are an attorney?

And don't feel sorry for me. I'm enjoying immigration. It's a fairly specialized field, there's always business, I'm proud of my work, and I didn't want to be a litigator anyway.

Are you in print or broadcast?

I'll either love or hate you depending on your answer.

Yup. I got really soured on the whole thing working for a huge NY firm.

Currently a shift manager at a KFC. Pay is decent, but I've been doing this job for far FAR too long and I hate it now. Leaving at the end of next month.

Also working on a masters in mathematics right now. I'm taking this next school year to finish my last few classes I want/need to take, and get my paper finished by the end of the spring semester. Looking for a community/tech college teaching job once I'm finished.

I"ll be student teaching two sections of college algebra this fall (my fifth and final semester with an assistantship), and need a new job starting in December. Any other math people able to recommend something?

Technical support for a retail chain, I deal with employees only.. I think I'd have to shoot myself if I worked with customers. Otherwise though, I work evenings, so I get hardly any calls. Best chill job I've ever had. Unsupervised, too.
From my friend's experience, it seems like a decent job with good money. He graduated college with a C+ average and is now getting paid $60,000 fresh out of school. His entire job consists of trying to overload and blow up power supplies so another team of engineers can analyze the data and design prevention and safety measures.
Depends on what part of the field you get into. He's a lucky one. The rest of us are doomed.

Well, I'm not, when I get out of this crap. :D Hell, even if I enjoyed electronics, making money in it would erode my humanity. I don't want to end up like my boss, even though he makes $20K a month- all he does is get rich and make other people richer, despite the fact that everyone who is rich seems unhappy.

I'd rather be in medicine and help people heal while being poor and know I'm doing some good in the world rather than just earning a paycheck.

Broadcast, I know, we're whores

One of my major worries when I go back to college (after being out for 3 years) is what to really get a degree in. Alot of my credits from my early 20's are so scattered around (half in psych, about half in biological sciences) that I don't really have a clear path to a four year degree.

My two year degree is in Medical Technology which is so specialized it doesn't apply to much else. I know I -need- a four year degree, I just don't want to have to start all over. Figuring out how to quickly (2 years or less) my 2 year degree into a four year one will be a major hurdle. College counselors have been little to no help I've found.

Working at a base we do a lot of public relations work and I really enjoy that part of the job. It seems to be an in demand career field and the pays decent on the civilian side. I will probably get a degree in that while I'm in and do that when i get out. I may still do a bit of free lance writing since I enjoy it.

I'm a structural design engineer, working primarily on towers. Good pay, flexible hours, real casual environment, and minimal travel, so when it comes down to it, yes, I do like my job.

Formerly employed at Smartpunk.com/Fearless Records (merch guy extraordinaire) , currently The UPS Store. Had to leave SP/Fearless because I went back to school full-time last semester, working on a commercial music degree.

I'm an order filler at a Walmart DC....

all the crap you see at the stores I go around and collect it, throw it on a pallet, shrink wrap it, and it ships out.

I work full time 3 days a week...and I fucking hate those 3 days. I get paid rather good, and they have good benefits though, as well as get a 10% discount on anything at the store. I'm holding off for a transfer to another DC in another state in the Transportation office(which is what I did at another place before I worked at walmart) or systems operations room but I have to wait until February. Most likely if I stick around till then I will get an opening in there. I have an Info Systems degree, and 8 or so years experience from my previous job. I just hate it a lot......

seriously though... with some of the dumbass people and decisions that go on in there I'm amazed that Walmart is as big as they are.

Support Technician (Information Technology) for the Orlando Magic NBA Team, support technology for the Organization, Game Night Support, Event Support, and support all Magic related equipment at the Arena, Intranet Administrator, etc. i am a jack of all trades. :)

Also I love my job, its exciting, rewarding and keeps me on my toes. Im into something different almost everyday.
Broadcast, I know, we're whores
Ha, damn right you are!

Most of the people in the broadcast program at my college were...well, whores as you put it.

I do reporting , systems support, systems coordination, user support, project support, testing, configurations, QA, inspection support and a few other things... for a company that makes anti cancer drugs (as well as many other drugs I wont reveal)

Ive always been a jack of all trades so I tend to find jobs that allow me to keep busy on different projects...

Actually I wouldn't say I'm in broadcast but rather video production. I'm behind the camera, not in front of it.

Then you're alright with me.
I take it you didn't have Hightower to back you up?

Anyway, I work in the IT department at No Fear. It's pretty nice. Starting pay is pretty good and I get to work in my street clothes. Also, the guys I work with are pretty good guys and I get to learn while I work. Most of my job consists of helping corp and store employees. I don't have to deal with random customers. :)

I'm enjoying it.
Quoting myself because I don't work in the IT department at No Fear. I got laid off.

I work at a restraunt, washing dishes, and preparing all of the non cooked food. I pretty much just starte out the back door, waiting to go home. I work 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. I get $100 a week, cash. I'm hoping to get all 3 consoles soon.

I like it, well its one of those situations where you've never had it better, so you couldnt really say if you hated it. I can eat/drink anything I want, and at the end of the day, whatever the days special is, I get a plate of that. So free lunch everyday.

I also freelance in webdesign, and make maybe $300 each client. So thats fun too.

I happen to work in the washroom of an environmental lab (official title "Support Technician") and a retail hair salon where I recommend beauty products to people. Not quite what I had in mind career wise. These are just bs jobs to keep me fed and clothed until I get my BS in Electrical Engineering Technology.

I'm actually happier washing beakers than the other job (I'm only in it for the free shampoo) but both jobs still suck compared to what I want to do (small electronic repair).

I work as an Information Technology Support Specialist at a small private college. The pay is decent, the bennies are hawt, and I don't have to live in the city. Always doing something different everyday, the man with many masks. A/V, Windows, Linux, Mac, networking you name it. Sorta fell into it many years ago.

My degree is a BA in Social Sciences Comprehensive emphasis in History, with a good smattering of Communication, Business, Philosophy classes. Hung around school for a while, took me 5.5 years to graduate. Don't rush yourselves in college.

I fell into my line of work, and while it's fine now Tech changes so fast and and can be very stressful. 20 Years from now might want to switch it up, a good liberal arts degree while not particularly specialized shows employers that you have a grasp of things like reading and writing. Writing skills are very important, too many people can not handle simple grammar.
English Teacher! High School! Going to start my PhD. in a year. Not sure where! Hell freakin yeah I love my job. I work 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, and I get December and summers off! Oh and I shape lives and stuff!
Awesome! I'm an English teacher, too! '06-'07 was my first year teaching... it was simultaneously the best and worst year of my life. I'm going to grad school next year and teaching at the same time, so yeah... looking forward to that. High five!
For anyone who's a teacher and has regrets, or is thinking of being a teacher and is rethinking it, I found a video just for you!
That was a GOOD video. So true, too. (little emoticon that claps a lot)

I work at a lan center. I think its awesome. I get paid to hang out, talk about games, and every other thing I would do without getting paid.

Hmm, that sounded exactly like Beatrice Kiddo's description of her job at the Record store...

You an assassin? I know you are...

I'm a research intern for a hedge fund in Chicago. I love my job - the work itself is easy, I get to learn a ton of things, and the bosses spoil the employees like you wouldn't believe.

Amazing job.

I work in a small family business, doing graphic design, catalog layout, and sales. Love the job, get to bring my 2 dogs to work, and work the hours that I want...A lot better then the corporate job I had a few years back working in the financial banking world.

First year math teacher here! This coming year is my first year and I'm finishing up my M.Ed. right now in Oregon. Excited and nervous! :D
