What's your favorite/the greatest TV theme song?
How about All in the Family? That's a good one. I miss TV shows having great songs.
Another great one.

I miss commercials having great songs/jingles to go with them as well.

Good Times.
Mr. Ed
Fat Albert
Green Acres (I believe it's already been mentioned)
Knight Rider
Hill Street Blues
MacGyver
The Love Boat
WKRP in Cincinnati
Married...With Children

I could go on forever in this thread...

Laverne & Shirley
Happy Days
CHiPS
The Muppet Show
Sanford and Son

Cripes, I guess I was a tv junkie when I was a kid...

Jem (Jem is excitement) oh
Jem (Jem is adventure) oh
Glamour and glitter
Fashion and fame

Jem (Jem is truly outrageous)
(Truly, truly, truly outrageous)
Oh whoa Jem (Jem)
The music contagious (outrageous)

But we're the Misfits
Our songs are better
We are the Misfits, the Misfits
And we're gonna get her

Jem (Jem is truly outrageous)
(Truly, truly, truly outrageous)
Oh whoa Jem (Jem)
The music contagious (outrageous)

Jem is my name
No one else is the same
Jem is my name

Umm... I mean the theme from GI Joe was pretty good.

(hums, "Truly, truly, truly outrageous")

You're one sick puppy shipwreck

Since my short term memory is shot, did anyone mention The Muppet Show and/or Fraggle Rock?
Edit: Nope...I win :bouncy:

Oh, c'mon, I can't be the only one that gets the Jem theme stuck in my head. The show came on right after M.A.S.K. or C.O.P.S. in my region and that's one fucking catchy tune.

And no, I have no idea how that song is on my iPod.

If by catchy you mean "wants to make me put my fist through the tv and gouge out my eardrums with knitting needles" then yes, its catchy.

I still say you're one sick bastard. ;)

Mmm.. good one, Muppet Show. That is a fun intro. It's surprising how many tv show intro's DON'T set the show up very well... don't get you ready with their Pavlovian inducing leadlines.

Shoot, I'm gonna throw Punky Brewster into the ring. I loved that show when I was a kid. Cartoon had a good song too "BOW BOW BOW BOW!"

http://www.maniatv.com/video/Punky-Brewster-Intro

Has anyone thrown Silver Spoons up in there??

http://www.sitcomsonline.com/silverspoons.html

That second to very last guitar riff. Can you imagine the guitar face he's making?

Anyone got anything more obscure? Or any classics we've forgotten?
It was just announced today, the series is being released on dvd July 18th, the same day as Brisco.
The juxtaposition of the lyrics to, admittedly outrageous, Jem's theme song, sitting side by side with an image of one of my favorite G.I.Joes has made my brain hurt. I can't shift gears like that, so good. No one else is the same as Jem, it's been said before...

Can't deny it though.. I watched Jem too.. Shoot I think every guy around my age did.

I dont know if anyone has said yet or not but what about Doogie Howser MD. It had that awesome 80s sounding cassio keyboard music.

My sister was one year younger than myself and most of the time I had to watch what she wanted. Jem was alright though considering the time it came out.

Wrong. I already mentioned it about 3 posts earlier (#55).

Gotta go with Star Blazers: The Quest for Iscandar
(Space Battleship: Yamoto)

We're off to outer space
We're leaving Mother Earth
To save the Human race
Our StarBlazers
Searching for a distant star
Heading off to Iscandar
Leaving all we love behind
Who knows what danger we'll find?
We must be strong and brave
Our home we've got to save
If we don't in just one year
Mother Earth will disappear
Fighting with the Gamilons
We won't stop until we've won
Then we'll return and when we arrive
The Earth will survive
With our StarBlazers

Tank! from Bebop or Sanford and Son. Either one is number 1. They exist in a quantum state of oneness.

Here's the lyrics to my favorite theme song - I'll twist this thread up a little bit - Who can guess the show?

Don't go to bed with no price on your head,
Don't do it.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

refrain:
Keep your eye on the sparrow,
When the going gets narrow.

Don't roll the dice if you can't pay the price,
Don't do it.
Don't run your feet down a dead-end street.

refrain

Don't do me dirt or you're gonna get hurt
Don't do it.
Don't run away till you hear what I say.

refrain

Ain't gonna fight with no thief in the night
Won't do it.
I'm gonna go where the cold wind don't blow.
refrain

I couldn't stand the Firefly theme song (don't hit me!) when I first started watching the show. Then I started to love it, as the show grew on me and I realized this was a big gorram sci-fi ho down!

I like to make up my own verses:

"You can't take Mal's ship from him...
... don't you know that's messed up maaan!"

hell it doesn't rhyme all that much but its true.. he he.
Can't deny it though.. I watched Jem too.. Shoot I think every guy around my age did.
We watched because Jem was freaking hot. :D

What about shows like CSI (The Who) or Get a Life (R.E.M.)? Do they count?

yikes - that's an awful picture and not indicative of her true hotness:

Also, Jerrica (Jem's alter-ego) was even hotter in a super-cute kind of way:
