Which AIM is everyone using?

Formatted my hard drives, thought I had an old version I copied over somewhere but I don't. Anyways what version is everyone using? I'm using the newest one and I hate it, is there a site I can download the latest version before Triton?

It sucks. I needed to download it onto a laptop, and I figured I'd give it a shot.. Don't. It's awful. I use Trillian, but thinking of downgrading to AIM 5.
 
I prefer the old version, over Triton I don't think you can have any capitals in ur aim name when you log in. Even if you put them in, it changes automatically to lowercase.

Trillian looks too much like yahoo messenger/Triton. Triton doesn't seem user friendly compared to previous versions.
 
OP im in hte same boat... I dled tritan and realized how shitty it was. Thanks for the link in this thread whoever posted it, now I can have non shitty messaging! YAY :)
 
Like I said, I use AIM regular, but I've tried Miranda and it's pretty nice.

Plus its skins are unbelievably sweet.

And yes- it's transparent.
 
Miranda is good if you are a minimalist. It's very barebones but is sufficient for everyday chatting.

Do you know how to install/make skins for Miranda? I would love that skin, but right now I'm using Gaim.
 
Love Trillian, have a couple of issues with it that I'm still trying figure out, but nothing really that has bothered me. Oh and I want to try Miranda one of these days. Here a lot of good things about that one.
 
I'm using the crappy AIM Tritan. You have to jump through hoops just to turn it completely off. I'll wake up at 3 in the morning to take a piss, and see that I'm still signed on, and one of my friends has sent me links to questionable Vietnamese porn.
 
I dont use AIM or chat too often, if I really need to chat with someone, then I tell them to go and get IRC (since we're talking about clients, I use mIRC modified with the UPP script) or just call me.
 
Besides VanillaGorilla's rant on the shut-down of Tritan, what else do you guys not like about it? I was thinking about getting it, but don't want to waste my time if there's too many things wrong with it.
 
I use Trillian, but the only thing I don't like is it doesn't update the buddy list if I add someone while using it, then go to a friend's house and go on their aim.
 
I've tried Triton Trillian and regular old Aim and Gaim just does everything I wan't without taking up to much space and dosn't have giant icons and clashing colors, but it still holds all the functions I want, which rocks.
