  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!

I've probably enjoyed the 2 One games I've finished more than most anything I ever played on my 360 - Sunset Overdrive and Shadows of Mordor. Right now I'm replaying Black Flag on the One after playing it through in 360.

I use my 360 for Rocksmith still because te One version sucks.

I use the One A LOT for TV pass through. I love to dock TV while I grind achievements or ship battles...

Watching youtube reviews and every last one was utterly positive, but still it just doesn't look like something I'd really enjoy.
Sure, because it's a videogame. You could have just asked people here: "Is Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare a videogame?" And we'd have told you pretty quickly.

This is a really freaking good week of 360 sales deals.  Absolutely no sarcasm at all in saying that.

It looks like MS is about to finally get some of my money in addition to my account credit.  It's been so sad lately I haven't even been willing to spend my "free" account credit, even through the pathetic excuse for a Year End sale.

Looks like Burnout: Paradise, NHL 15, PvZ: Garden Warfare, and maybe even Titanfall might be getting my money, and we'll have to see what else I missed on XBLDB and browsing the scattered notes in this thread.

Some thoughts on some sale games for those wondering, because I know the group here leans heavily towards RPG's and FPS's, and not so much the sports-ey:

* NBA Jam: OFE is easily worth the price.  There are enough challenges and unlockables to keep you busy for a very, very long time.  It is every bit as good as the original 16-bit Jam games.  I bought it several years ago at a much higher price point and never regretted it once.  Great single player.  Great multiplayer, and great fun to watch someone else play even.

* Some people complain about Tony Hawk HD not feeling quite right or as crisp as the originals, but some don't seem to mind it, and it's honestly a good game.  Especially if you can nab the Revert Pack and the extra levels it adds.

* NCAA 14.... this is the last college football game we will probably *ever* get until or unless the NCAA dies/goes away.  That $7.49 is a ridiculously-low price point for an EA Sports game like that, and the game has a ridiculously amount of replayability with the different modes and downloadable rosters.  For those unaware also:  NCAA Football had largely its own dev team.  So it really is a different game than Madden that simply shares some similarities, and many consider the NCAA series superior to Madden.  I'm a die-hard EA NHL fan, and even I always thought NCAA was the best series EA had going.

Mass Effect 3 Leviathan or Omega, which one is better?
Definitely Leviathan, no contest.

Mostly related to the sale... So I tried playing the first Mass Effect game on two or three different occasions. I didn't enjoy the combat at all. Did it improve a great deal in the sequels?
The gameplay in ME2 and ME3 is completely different from ME1. ME1 is an RPG that just looks like a third person shooter on the surface (everything that happens is still controlled by stats and dice rolls under the hood). 2 and 3 are actual third person shooters with RPG elements.

Gonna reiterate here, anyone who doesn't buy Dead Space for $3 is a dumb dumbhead.

For me Bulletstorm was one of the most underappreciated games last gen.  Yeah it was a little brash with the swearing but I always felt like that was part of the point and was supposed to be funny (kind of like in Far Cry Dragon Blood).  The point system and upgrade system were fun too and the best part is if you didn't like either you could just play it as a normal shooter...  Super fun game and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for something a little different in sort of an overly macho 80's action flick style.

Yeah 1 to 2 and then 3 were soooooo different. I'm glad with Dragon Age they decided to take a step back and make 3 more like an actuall full-on RPG again (while still retaining some newb-friendliness from 2).

From what I played of Dead Space I always loved it, but I was never able to commit and keep playing for some reason. I have it digitally so will need to go back soon.

I bought Dead Space for $12 when I first got my console. It's part of my backlog and I still don't regret buying it. It's that good.

Bulletstorm is so much fun. A FPS with a sense of humor and rewards you for how you pull off kills.

Prototype was also cool. I didn't really understand the hate some people have for it. Running up buildings is more fun than web swinging.

I take it this is Microsoft's response to Sony's kick ass sales from last week.  I'm thrilled to see Garden Warfare under $10. I just wish it didn't need an internet connection to play like Destiny does. Nevertheless, it's my only purchase this week.

Wonder when Feb's GWG for 360 will be announced.

Sure, because it's a videogame. You could have just asked people here: "Is Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare a videogame?" And we'd have told you pretty quickly.
Ha yeah. Been watching the gameplay vids and I guess I just don't get it, not seeing the fun factor.

* Some people complain about Tony Hawk HD not feeling quite right or as crisp as the originals, but some don't seem to mind it, and it's honestly a good game. Especially if you can nab the Revert Pack and the extra levels it adds.
Tony Hawk is worth it for the hilarious bail animations. If you fall off your board, it looks like a scene from "Gravity."

Considering I still have around $8 left in my US account with that Gamestop promo from last year, which expires in July I believe, I don't know if I want to buy one of the $4 games or wait for another sale  :whistle2:k

So many oldsters like me on here, I'm surprised at the lack of nostalgia glasses in here when it comes to OUT OF THIS WORLD, back in the day (there it is!) that was an awesome game but damnit it was hard. If I ever get on my X1, or the app or site ever let me, I'm buying it in a heartbeat.
Nice Avatar, actually played like 2 hours of Zombies Ate My Neighbors on my gamestick the other day. Thats a game I'd like to see remade, although its basically just a twin stick shooter

My main issue with it was just the 360 controller itself. I definitely like the d-pad for TH games and the 360's d-pad has always felt more like it's taking suggestions than directions so that put a damper on it.

Mostly related to the sale... So I tried playing the first Mass Effect game on two or three different occasions. I didn't enjoy the combat at all. Did it improve a great deal in the sequels?
I know many would disagree with me, but I wouldn't say "improved". It pretty much became a shooter in that aspect, so if you enjoy third person shooters, then you will probably like it more. Personally, I liked the first because you had to put skill points into a weapon to be better with it, and overheat > ammo supply. Like I said though, many people disagree with me on that, so take it for what you will.

The whole of combat just felt sloppy to me. I'm an old-school turn-based RPG guy (pen and paper as well as video games), so I was interested in a trilogy of games with decisions that have meaning in more than just one game. It seems like the more I research the Mass Effect games the less I'm interested. If the RPG elements are stripped or greatly reduced going forward then I have little desire to play. From all I've read and heard, that seems to be the case.

Thanks to all of you lovely people for the information.

Major Nelson just posted.  Haven't cross checked everything yet, but he lists Never Alone as 50% off on the XB1 that isn't reflected on the web marketplace and was just 33% off the week before last.

I've been reading and hearing reviews, that the game is great with co-op, but horrible as a single-player. I feel like buying the game just to give a try, but i don't waste $3.99 (I'm CAG). I wish there was a demo for it, so i can give my own opinion.
I remember playing the demo before the game came out. Unless it was a limited demo or something it should be in the marketplace.

For those in the Xbox One preview program, they released a controller update that improves the time it takes to turn on. Found a video that shows the difference.

Torn on what to do with ME DLC. Never bought the stuff for 3. I have the DLC for 1&2 on 360. But, I got the trilogy for PC, and that's the longer lasting platform. In 10 years getting a working 360 to play it could be a big ordeal.

Ugh.

I really want to play Lords of the Fallen but it just is not budging. I know it was slightly on sale a bit ago but it is still rocking the $60 tag. I am surprised it is holding so strong at retail even too. Ugh, I want it! But at this point it has been out for a bit and so I feel a drop is inevitable. (I am in the exact situation with Bayonetta 2 now as well)

I just sent my Xbox One in for service because it kept having problems connecting to controllers. They took one day to do the "repair" and are now shipping it back to me. I wonder if this firmware is suppose to fix my issue and if they didn't fix the console at all.

I am a huge Souls fan but lotf was just..ugh. Gave me a headache trying to navigate that.

What intrigues me is that I have heard extremely varying opinions on the game. Some Souls fans love it while others found it quite lackluster. With Bloodbourne still being a bit away I really just want to play SOMETHING like it and be able to form my own opinion. I know once that comes out and the X1/PS4 versions of DS2 I will never care to touch Lords of the Fallen.

If anyone cares... Amazon is giving $14 trade in for Battlefield 4 for X1. I will trade my copy since I got the premium for $24 this morning.

I'm wondering this as well. I heard It's wi-fi interference of some sort with launch consoles but it doesn't sound like MS figured anything out... unless It's in this update.

Did NHL 15 ever add the modes that were supposed to be added? Without Ultimate Team, I'm not really interested. If they have added it to the game, I am probably in this week.

I don't think it's Wifi related for me. I have two Xbox One consoles and my Day One edition works fine. I swapped out locations, controllers, etc. and my newer console (purchased as a Madden Bundle) can't connect to my controllers wirelessly, but works fine if you use USB. My Day One edition works just fine in any location with any controllers.

NHL 15 definitely has UT (really, that's basically all EA Sports games are these days), I thought it was other standard modes that had been missing?

Oh - you're right... This was from the GiantBomb review:

"But hey, don't take my word for it. Just take a gander at this post from EA's official NHL blog, which outlines the content the developers plan on adding to the game over the next couple of months via free patches. If you don't feel like reading through all of that, here's a bullet-pointed list:

  • Playoff Mode
  • Be a Pro -- Coach Feedback
  • 3 Stars of the Game
  • Layout and Player Item Animation Changes for Hockey Ultimate Team
  • Online Team Play
  • GM Draft
With the sole exception of the Ultimate Team changes, every single one of the things on that list is something that's been in a previous hockey game. In fact, a few of them have been in nearly every hockey game over the last couple of console generations. This isn't new content. It's the content you're already supposed to have, stapled back onto NHL 15's emaciated frame post-release. I shouldn't have to tell you why that's not acceptable for a game a publisher intends to charge full retail price for."

Doesn't work on the X1 version? :/
Hmm, didn't notice that it was for the PC version. I'm not sure though, do the two versions share the same owned content? You're using your XBL account on both and it would be awful if you had to buy everything twice. Hadn't even thought about it since it's an XBL key and I didn't even know there was a PC version.

I'll try it later if no one else gets around to it.

does anyone know how big the battlefield premium edition is? and battlefield premium by itself (just the dlc)

I'm pretty tempted to get it but not sure if I wanna trade in my copy and get the premium edition or just buy premium. And anther part of me is just thinking I'll buy it and never play the maps, like titan fall last time it was on sale.......

I redeemed mine on the xbox site and the game is showing my 3 days of premium.
