Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Needs better marketing. Not a good idea to announce release date on the same week as the game. Build some hype. Would have did bad on PS4 also. Might have done well on PC. They love weird indie shit (so do I).

I love my Xbox One but you know Swery is wishing he had released it on the PS4 too. You have to wonder if these studios will continue to give MS exclusives if they can't grow the install base enough to keep up with Sony. But then again MS is richer than 100 Richie Rich's. Throw money at the devs, problem solved.
Well to be honest they did announce the game AND release it in the same week. Came out of left field for a lot of people.

I think Microsoft funded the games development and I think it's one of those scenarios where the game wouldn't have gotten made if Microsoft didn't provide funding. I think Dead Rising 3 was the same way and I thought I remember the Sunset Overdrive team touching on this (Since at the time Sony wouldn't fund them without it being a PS Exclusive).

I'm sure he's upset but Microsoft isn't the sole reason for bad sales. He never provided a solid release date for the game and it stealth launched without a lot of people knowing. You can't just randomly decide to release a game like that when there's already a lot of competition coming out.

How many stories are out there about the indie dev that signs on to XBL exclusivity and have a good game with lesser sales and then feel like MS didn't hold up it's end? Read a lot of those the last couple years and yet they still keep signing.

Seems like these sale weeks been going by pretty quick

tomorroe is already date night

Pray for a 5 dollar Toy Story 3 doubt it but damn i want it

It's his own damn fault dude. The fact of the matter is he's an indie dev and that alone doesn't appeal to a wide audience. But to go and release a game out of the blue like that and expect it to shatter records? Also, maybe it's just me but I don't think the game looks that interesting. It had a niche market as it was and probably wouldn't have sold extremely well regardless. You shouldn't expect Microsoft to perform miracles.

Crono I honestly wasn't fishing for a like. I think we are just gamer bros separated at birth.

Also, sorry for the lack of Gold for the last... Hell I don't know... year now?

Plenty of psn indie titles have had similar releases but I do agree that this game came out of left field and I'll also say that the dashboard on the One does a shitty job of announcing releases unless you know what to go look for.

It's a Microsoft game and they have shitty platforms to spread news about smaller games like this. Major Nelson has a whopping two articles about the game, one to announce it would release in two days and one to announce it was out. Xbox Wire is more of a site for media and it has three articles, which covers two days before launch, E3 2014, and TGS 2013. They need a community-focused blog to announce things for their smaller titles or else they just fall through the cracks like D4 and many others.

It says a lot that Ignition Entertainment did a much better job pushing the original Deadly Premonition than Microsoft could with all of its potential marketing power. They don't seem to know how to push these small, weird titles that they want to sign up for the credit they get from people for trying new things, which ultimately hurts those games even more than just letting smaller publishers handle them. At the very least, they could've set up a Summer of Arcade-esque promotion to push games like D4 that can fall through the cracks in this part of the year. I don't blame Swery65 at all for thinking that signing with Microsoft could provide for better marketing muscle for his brand of weirdness than the previous publishers that he has dealt with that got his studio's games to cult hit status.

I haven't seen muc talk about Syndicate. Reviews suggest it's a great co op game. Still a fun game in 2014?
You'll spend maybe 7-8 hours on the campaign. It's quite fun, especially for FIVE BUCKS. If you like Starbreeze's production values, go for it. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's damn fun.

Plenty of psn indie titles have had similar releases but I do agree that this game came out of left field and I'll also say that the dashboard on the One does a shitty job of announcing releases unless you know what to go look for.
I don't even know what he expected with no advertising what so ever. The only reason I even heard of the game was because of a Giant Bomb article. You think he would try and get this game out to people that do Lets Plays and more reviewers or something like that at least.

I think PlayXBLA is supposed to be their community focused blog for smaller titles. It's mostly Happy Wars and World of Tanks stuff there, with some Minecraft thrown in, but they do post on other games. Fail on their part for not making a blog post when it was released, though they mentioned it on their Twitter and made a post when the free costume DLCs were released last week.

Probably saw traffic drop when they stopped doing the weekend achievement challenges. If they're dropping the notion of "Arcade" on the XB1, they might want to rebrand the blog under a new name.

Speaking of which, it seems the current gen version of Forza Horizon 2 is drastically better (almost a different game) than it's last gen counterpart, but Shadow of Mordor's only missing feature for last gen is their gimmicky nemesis system, which means gameplay is pretty much the same (can't confirm since delayed the 360/PS3 versions).

In case any one was wondering.

All the positive reviews of Shadow of Mordor seem to praise the nemesis system, so it seems like a big feature to miss out on. Then again it's a WB game and I'll wait until a complete edition with season pass to play it eitherway.

LOTRO hasn't added Mordor yet, so I won't be able to complain how they game's environment looks nothing like Mordor.

If it is Assassin's Creed in LOTR setting, I'll probably love it. Glad to see positive reviews for it.

The last time I looked at PlayXBLA, 95% of the posts were just Happy Wars, World of Tanks, and Minecraft, so I think they gave up on using it as a useful promotional tool for their digital games. The fact that Microsoft has three potential sites to spread news out there and they don't really do much with any of them shows how much they need to unify them all to have just one single site for all of your Xbox news needs. It would simplify the process for people to learn about new announcements and what games are coming soon. I can't say off the top of my head what XBLA titles are coming to Xbox 360 or Xbox One in the next few weeks besides Chariot, which is part of the problem.

Looked more to me as Batman: Mordor Knight than Assassins Creed 6: Forget the convoluted story of Gods, it was Tolkien all along bitches.

Xbox has been on a roll with first person shooter games on sale/for free so I'm going to predict a sale this week on either the Bioshock or Far Cry series.

And Shank 2 just to make me mad that Shank 1 isn't on sale (again).

I'm hoping for something like Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen to go on sale this week.

Not a FPS fan, so even for free I'll be passing on the free gwg title, let alone pay for one. Passing on the other gwg title as well. Tried Dark Siders or whatever its called when it came out and didn't like it.

Which makes sense since they were building the Xbone as the lead platform independent of the 360 and then a separate developer was given the task of making it work on the 360s limitations. They talked about it back when the game was announced and it seemed like a really good approach to putting the game on 360 for more sales without holding back the Xbone.

How do you know the nemesis system is gimmicky? Every review I've seen (which isn't a huge number, i'll admit) says the nemesis system is unique and a positive. Some even indicate it's the best feature and such a good idea that other games will likely be copying it.

Damn thar mass effect 3 dlc is good. I apreciate it more now than i would have back then. I think since having a child video games have passed me by. Rarely have time anymore but the 3 hours i played today during nap time was just as good storytelling as it was when i first played it!

You misspelled Super Smash Bros.

And I don't think I've bought anything on sale in about 2 months now.

Seriously Garden Warfare just keeps getting better and better

more and more free DLC is awesome

seriously everybody should own this game by now its that good :)

well super smash bros doesnt come out tomorrow nor is the 3ds version looking very promising
Only complaints have been the 3DS hardware itself being uncomfortable after long bouts of Smash and the screen not comparable to a TV, but otherwise people are enjoying it. So promise so far has been met.

Thanks. Maybe Omega will drop sometime in the future, but then again, it has been over a year since it has been on sale so I just ended up getting it,
