I preferred Lego Batman to Lego Marvel.  I think Lego Marvel suffered from trying to be too big, some of the challenges got tedious (which is kind of redundant to say about a lego game) and some were just too wonky...like trying to fly with any kind of control whatsoever.

 
Is there an open world component to the Lego Movie game or is it more linear like the older titles? My kids loved lego pirates, lego batman and lego marvel, and the lego movie, but I haven't bought this game yet (waiting for a better price) but I might bite at $20 since there hasn't been anything good on sale for me lately (nothing that I don't already own).

Took a little while to get the hang of flying but it was pretty easy once I did.

it's like grand theft lego

 
Lego Star Wars III is still my personal favorite.  Marvel is good but the GOD does lock up more than other lego games I've played.  It's not a lot but it will happen from time to time.  And those flying challenges can be pretty monotonous.

I forgot about the freezing. Happened every time I played. I would just play a while until it froze, then I'd go to bed.

 
About 3 weeks ago I bought The Lego Movie: The Game, for $40 on GOD and don't regret it one second. For $20 your getting a ton of content and quite possibly the greatest Lego game ever made. If your a fan of Any of the Lego games and especially the movie, you owe it to yourself to play it. I'm even thinking of buying the Physical copy just to have it on my shelf, next to my Collectors Edition 3d Bluray.
 
If anyone plans on buying Injustice, there's a free mobile game available for iOS and Android (and Kindle Fire) that gives a few restricted unlocks for character skins and icons across both games. 

There's also a free Arkham Origins mobile game that gives access to skins and console multiplayer bonuses.

Seriously? Lego Marvel for $10? I just bought that on Saturday for $20. What's this about freezing issues? The disc copy froze once on my son, is the GoD version worse?

Yes it is - but it's $19.99 when not on sale. $5 is a damned good price for this title. I bought at $10 a few months back and have really enjoyed it thus far. It's a great game but I do sorta hate the map and wish it was more of a 2D experience than one where you sometimes go around edges as I find it's kind of easy to get lost and not be able to figure out where the hell on the map you need to go which can be frustrating. It's one of the better metrovania games since Shadow Complex. Definitely a steal at $5.

BTW, I need to vent. Lego Marvel is on sale for $32.98 in Australia - that's like $29 US which is basically non sale pricing. What a joke the international marketplace can be at times.

It's an issue that's been going on for a bit now. You need to get the in-game update (not just the title update). Unfortunately, the update prompt isn't working, so there's no way to get it. Starting today some gamers have been reporting they received the prompt while trying to search for matches, while others have said it comes from checking the store from the menus. It's a large update (over a gig), so you'll know when you get it. The update is called the Vietnam Update, and is necessary even if you don't buy the Vietnam DLC.

Even after you get it some people have reported that the matches have been laggy or not finding games. This is another issue, and apparently EA is working to resolve it.

But, yeah, you're not alone.

Thanks for the link and info. on Blackgate. Seems like PSN never lists hence why I keep forgetting about it.

I have had the same problem for the past 2 days. I don't know what's going on.

 
Totally getting Blackgate for the 360. That's like AC Liberation from this past week, $20 normally and on sale for 75% off. Insta-buy and immediately added to the backlog. Will get to it sometime in 2015

I am sticking to my prediction that either Arkahm Asylum or Arkham City will become a GWG freebie. Hell, AA is free on PS+ right now so I'm still staying true to that guess

So far I'm safe for this week's sales. When does Major Nelson update his blog with the entire list?

 
Picked up Lego Marvel, didn't like what I saw from Lego Batman 2 on Youtube.

Marvel has a much more vibrant world and Batman is kind of dull and lacks a minimap for some odd reason.

It'll be nice to play an actual good Marvel game.

You made a good choice. I own both and really really enjoyed Lego Marvel much more than batman 2. I found myself getting bored playing only batman, robin and sometimes superman throughout the campaign. In marvel, you switch between a nice handful of different characters. And there is a shit ton of characters in all.
