Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Has anyone been playing Evolve? What's there is definitely fun but is there going to be more to it? I like playing the medic but not the other classes as much so far. Evolve is definitely better mechanically in every way than L4D but I'm not sure if it's going to have quite the same hook.
I've been playing a lot, I really like it. In the alpha there isn't a huge amount of stuff though. You can unlock a second character for each of the classes (including the monster) though, Medic is my least favorite to play haha. I noticed it specifies that you are playing in hunt mode, so maybe the final game will have some more modes? I'm pretty sure there will be three of each character then as well.

Mechanically it's definitely solid and feels like the evolution of L4D into a next gen sci-fi game. It's just whether all the peanut butter is going to be there that binds it all together and makes it work like L4D.

So, been messing around a couple hours in the COD: AW multiplayer. Man, this is fun. Original? Probably not, the Exo powers seem to be a mix of Halo, Crysis, Unreal Tournament and Titanfall: you run on walls, sidejump, fly around, go invisible, get health boost, go super fast, and so on. Really fun, and whereas not all these games had a good or lasting multiplayer, this one brings the usual COD quality (let's pretend Ghosts didn't exist). There's tons of gamemodes, an impressive customization (both looks and classes), great map designs, cool new game modes (one that seems almost a copy of Bombing Run from Unreal Tournament 2003/2004), fun new weapon types (lasers!)... it's just fun and polished as usual. Didn't encounter crashes, OP weapons or annoying spawns either, so far so good I'd say. The rewards system that kinda mixes Titanfall's burn cards with any RPG's loots keeps you wanting to play more and more, hoping that you get some sick Elite weapon - but you can also get temporary double XP, extra care packages, customization items and more. I am really digging it so far is the point here. And if you don't like the new sci-fi-ish thingy... there's game modes without Exo, there's Veteran, there's Season (just as good as Black Ops 2)... oh, and the emblem making is back. Definitely the most solid and complete COD along with BO2 of the past 5-6 years.

Man, earlier and earlier every week. At least there's no over priced Sonic games on the 'Bone to make us suffer through this week.

Dang, didn't see anything. I would have got Sonic Generations if it was 75% instead of 50%. Also WTH, all Sonic deals and they just threw in a random Deus Ex for $4.04
Agreed, Generations should have been $5.

It looks like it a Sonic sale with Deus Ex being randomly added for $4.04. Seems like these sales go live earlier and earlier each week.

Has anyone had the cross buy for CoD work yet?

I purchased it on 360 last night, but the XBO version is still not showing up as free.

There was a service issue on LIVE this morning that affected CoD authentication for the Xbox One.

I purchased the 360 version a month or so ago and I had access to the digital copy on my Xbox One about an hour ago.

Sonic all star racing transformed looks really fun and its not a huge game at only 4.6 gigs but 15 always been way to much to waste for me

Played for 30 minutes and said fuck this. Went from a day one buy to will I ever buy it? I loved L4D so much but I wasn't feeling Evolve

Yeah, I'm feeling like this would be great with a regular group of people but I wouldn't buy it to play by myself for more than $20 or so.
Everybody I've talked to feels the same. We tried playing on a team of friends, but couldn't. Then we tried splitting up into 2s and searching for separate games, nothing again. Then we played solo and they through you onto a team with no explanation of what your class is supposed to do or what your items do. We did not have fun at all.

That said, it is just an alpha. Still has a lot of changes to come before the final version is released.

Murdered: Soul Suspect ($25) and Thief ($20) are half off on XB1.
Good price for Murdered if you haven't played it. Low budget game with a lot of potential. Sadly the devs are gone, so no sequel. Or we'll get a terrible sequel like what that happened with Sacred 3.

Try the demo (if there is one) for Thief if you've ever gotten sick/headache from a video game. There is a lot of camera moving up and down when opening everything for loot. From what I played it was a little fun. Hard to judge when your head hurts though.

Sonic all star racing transformed looks really fun and its not a huge game at only 4.6 gigs but 15 always been way to much to waste for me
It is good if you want a solid kart racer.

Yeah, and they haven't given details as far as I can find but they've definitely hinted that there's other modes. The mechanics are definitely there and the game looks great so if all the peanut butter's there I think it will be fine. While it's a bit unfair to make constant comparisons to L4D they did make it and there's a lot of similarities. I hope there's something more structured like L4D where the AI plays a role and there's more layers to it and that what we get to play now is basically the deathmatch mode.

Too much on Murdered still for me. $10 or bust.

YMMV - Got a message from Microsoft thanking me for purchasing the Sunset Overdrive system bundle and they sent me a code for Ryse: Son of Rome. Just keep an eye on your messages, guys.  I know a lot of people are probably picking up X-Box Ones today because of the price drop.

I played solo for about 90 minutes on Saturday and liked what I saw. The maps were interesting and classes that are actually different was a nice change of pace from Destiny. Before each round I got a short tutorial video that explained my weapons/items and how/when to use them, but it still seemed like people were struggling with what they should be doing. It didn't help that our group had some dude at like Level 18 who was very unhappy we weren't playing "the right way."

My concern is without at least three friends to play with, this will lose its appeal in a hurry. I think a lot of solo players are going to approach it as two parts--being the Monster, and "let's get this over with so I can be the Monster." That's not going to keep people coming back for months.

50$ is not enough to get me to buy another Xbox product.

I'm level 20 now and have played primarily solo, I've had some bad teams/players but generally the groups still end up working really well as long as you use the markings to point out where the monster is and such. I can see myself getting it and playing for a while even if I don't have a full group to play with.

YMMV - Didn't get a message from Microsoft thanking me for purchasing the Xbox One with Kinect at launch and they didn't send me a code for Ryse: Son of Rome. Don't bother keeping an eye on your messages, guys. I know a lot of people picked up X-Box Ones on launch day and have been loyal customers by purchasing Xbox Live Gold and games for the past 12 months.

That's good to hear. The game is definitely still on my radar, but for me it's mainly going to depend on whether or not my friends are interested.

Not sure why you're bitter about that exactly? Other people posted yesterday they got the same message.

Right? I choose not to think about it too much, but I totally agree that the "secret" free games went to the wrong people.

Curse those corporate marketing experts who know I'll spend my money with them no matter what so they use their budget on new customer acquisition and retention instead! The scallywags.

I'm not bitter. I just thought it was a funny way to comment on it. I do think customer loyalty is often mishandled when things like this come up. It's just as dumb as the different websites that offer coupons or freebies to new customers only. I'm sure there's good reasons for it and justification for it, but it still looks and feels dumb to existing customers.

In other news I'm finally getting around to FH2 after having it sit here for like two weeks and getting absolutely fed up with stupid Mordor. Hoping I didn't get a bad disc or something since it is taking an age and a half to install and barely moving.

There are good reasons and justifications for it, that's why it's done. It's not necessarily that they don't care about you, they just know they don't have to give you anything for free.

FTFY. Microsoft and all of these other mega corps would give your mother ebola if it was somehow profitable. All you are to them is a customer acquisition cost and then a customer retention cost.

yeah discounting your system 150 then including the first big fall release on xbone THEN giving them another free game is a little insulting
I'd argue that Killer Instinct and Dead Rising 3 were the first big fall releases when the console launched last year. My reward is having fun for hundreds of hours for about a year longer than late buyers. That is priceless to me.

Pretty sure he meant of the year. ;)
