  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

black friday sale starts next week. so happy. :)
Honest Question: In terms of pricing, what are we expecting from Xbox Live's (Digital) Marketplace?

If memory serves, the prices last year were fine, but not Black Friday Ridiculous - as is the case from retailers selling discs. I mean, the prices were in the ballpark of competitive but weren't amazing.

I kind of feel like if you want Digital, you have to be prepared to pay 20% more from the Marketplace than if you bought discs on Black Friday from Amazon / Walmart / Target / Best Buy / etc.

I guess what I'm saying is....I'm not sure $20 for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition digitally will seem awful in comparison to the prices the Marketplace will show in a week. My expectations for digital prices are fairly small, frankly. I expect to be mostly unimpressed.

So I guess the weekly deals going forward will be gold exclusive from now on? I shut my gold down this year because it was useless to me as I don't game online(in case someone says get gold). Not like the deals are good anyway, last deal item I purchased was Bully from that one Rockstar Sale. I have some promo bux from that Gamestop code giveaway and I am afraid they will expire soon though I am not sure when. So I need to spend these space dollaroos.

Having yet to play the newest Tomb Raider, can anyone give a rundown of the dlc? The descriptions aren't exactly informative. Worth buying?
Very fun game and well worth the price. The DLCs are useless though. There's a couple for multiplayer that no one plays and a couple for basically lazy people so they can start off with better weapons instead of having to upgrade and some skins thrown in for good measure.

I am going to buy tomb raider definitive edition, but not today. I learned a lesson when I bought the titan fall season pass too early during that sale. the price dropped a few days later and I wasn't able to get a refund for the difference.

This is awesome that they finally put those Tomb Raider DLCs on sale again, the older games I mean.  The Underworld DLCs are exclusive to the 360, so I'll finally be able to play them for the right price.

If you have interest in these DLCs, buy them now since they seem to go on sale less frequently than the Mass Effect DLCs for some reason.

Also, if anybody is interested in playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2 since it went free, do it soon.  I've been playing it regularly, and the community is really lessening this last week.  I assume it has a lot to do with the release of Advanced Warfare and The Master Chief Collection.

Good to know. Maybe I'll last more than 10 seconds on a level now.

Looks like another skip week for me. I keep Lara on PS3.

Tomb Raider was awesome and worth the reboot. Better than average definitely. Collecting things weren't a hassle and the exp bonus gives a nice incentive. Upgrades worked well. The game has a nice challenge to it, not the puzzles but the combat. It's also pretty lengthy but pacing is good enough. Like Crysis 3, there is a weapon that can be op but you don't care since it fits the narrative and is fun to use. I would say I had just as much fun with it as the Uncharted series, if not more. Locales and set pieces are excellent. Towards the end there are some awesome jaw dropping moments.

Yeah it's a great game. The gunplay was better than Uncharted IMO. But the story and characters are not even close to as good.

I hope they offer some good Xbox One Digital Deals this black friday for all of the new consoles out in the market now.

I really enjoyed Tomb Raider on the 360 when it came out. Do I want to pay 20 Euros to play it again with slightly improved graphics? Not sure. Might just skip and wait until the Black Friday offering, TR will likely be this cheap or cheaper given the amount of times they've put it on sale on 360 already.

I'm confused, what's the difference between Tomb Raider: Anniversary - Episodes 1-4 and the full Lara Croft Tomb Raider game?

I got the reboot for free when I bought the holiday 360 last year as a replacement for my old unit when it died.   Are some of the other games like Anniversary and Underworld worth going back for?

It looks like the same thing but that they released it in two halves as well for no clear reason.

If I'm not mistaken, the other Anniversary thing was a set of DLCs (not sure if stand-alone) for Legend, essentially containing the same game. Not sure why they did that, but since it's the same engine they're running on, I guess it was a sort of an incentive to be able to get the Anniversary experience without having to buy a full priced game again.

If they can knock some of the more obscure Arcade games that are regularly $9.99 down to below $5 for Black Friday, I would be happy. I'm not expecting a fire sale on any those games, but there are plenty (Awesomenauts, Outland, Poker Smash, P.B. Winterbottom, shmups such as Guwange) that I would definitely download if they didn't cost $10 and up. I only buy Games on Demand if they're $5 and under since I already own more 360 disc games than I can possibly play in a lifetime. Therefore, I will buy Enslaved during the current sale because I already tried it on the PS3 before.

For all the youngsters here ... :D/ ... TR:Legend came out first, and then TR:Anniversary was released shortly thereafter. TR:Anniversary is a set of "greatest hits" (and other inspired) levels from all the prior "Tomb Raider" games, including all the way back to pointy-titted Lara in TR1. TR:Anniversary was created using TR:Legend's engine, plus uses a fair amount of shared assets from TR:Legend, so it gave us options to purchase the standalone new adventure:

  • Buy it for a reduced MSRP of $39.99 (when it released), whereas TR:Legend was a full $59.99 ... or ...
  • Purchase & download the 2 DLC's @ $15 apiece (aka 1200 pts apiece), and save $10 off the MSRP.
But here's where it gets interesting ... the 2 DLC packs for TR:Legend add 125 achievement points apiece for TR:Legend (totaling 250pts) ... while the full disc/GoD version of TR:Anniversary has its own set of achievements worth 1000pts. So if you're an OCD completionist, you could purchase TR:Anniversary, TR:Legend, and the 2 DLC packs, and earn a total of 2250pts.

In my opinion, it's a little sad that Microsoft/SquEnix only drop 67% off the DLC, while the GoD version drops 75% ... so unless you're the OCD completionist (see above), then just buy the full disc/GoD version for $4.99+tax, and don't bother with the DLC which requires 3 DRM checks (TR:Legend, ep's 1-2, ep's 3-4), plus requires the same HDD space as buying the full game by itself. I'm also uncertain why the 2 DLC items say they're compatible with both TR:Legend and TR:Anniversary, since they really don't interact with the full TR:Anniversary disc/GoD title (except for maybe save-game compatibility ... and even that's doubtful).

Tomb Raider™ Anniversary - Gold Price: $4.99 - 75% off - xbldb
Tomb Raider: Anniversary - Episodes 1 & 2 - Gold Price: $3.29 - 67% off - xbldb
Tomb Raider: Anniversary - Episodes 3 & 4 - Gold Price: $3.29 - 67% off - xbldb
Now that TR:Legend is also discounted, maybe Anniversary DLC should go under that, and also include differences?

Tomb Raider™ Anniversary - Gold Price: $4.99 - 75% off - xbldb ... complete "Anniversary" story as a standalone Games-on-Demand title; earns 1000 achievement points.
Tomb Raider:Legend - Gold Price: $4.99 - 75% off - xbldb

I was going to explain all this, but you nailed it.

Also, I'll never forgive Square Enix for tacking on Anniversary as DLC for Legend. I worked my butt off to get 1000G in Legend and they killed my 100%. Anniversary was decent, but I'm not playing it again just for 250G. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I am so confused after reading all the posts about Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

Is is not worth buying for $20?

I don't like discs and only do digital games, if that plays into it.

I've always wanted to play it, just didn't know what would be considered a CAG worthy price to buy it at.

Tomb raider on 360 was one of my favorite games last year, I got that one for $20 too. The price all depends on how much you wanna play it :)

It is absolutely worth $20. It's just easy to find a physical copy at a lower price. If you're going to play it soon enough, go for it, but I would imagine it will see future sales with a sequel on its way.

Well, I know I'm definitely going to play the heck out of it, except probably the multiplayer part since I'm pretty sure by now it is a dead zone in there.

Always heard great things about it.

Any idea on what's the lowest physical price now?

And since the sequel is on the way, that's why I'm also weary that it'll be on sale close to the sequel's release.

Definitely a great price for the game imo, and who knows when it will be on sale digitally again if you don't want to try and get it on disc.

Best Buy is supposed to have it for $20 in physical form on BF and they're not the only one that is supposed to have it at that price. If you have GCU at Best Buy, $20 ends up being $16 for a physical copy after the 20% discount.

I think the lowest has been $15 or $20. Average price for disc is around $35-$40.

So $20 is a good deal.

If it's $20 for the DFE version on XB1, I'll pick it up digitally since I have lots of MS money on the cheap from NewEgg discounted purchases.

One less thing to use a BB RZ certificate on for BF.

I thought Enslaved was garbage. If you hate when games hold your hand, stay far away from Enslaved, it NEVER lets go. Keep in mind, this is from the people responsible for the shithouse Devil May Cry reboot. You are constantly told where to go and exactly how to get there, throughout the entire game. If not for that, platforming would be kinda fun, though it's so simplified, it's nearly impossible to die while you're hanging from a ledge; you're only allowed to jump to the next "acceptable" surface. There isn't the faintest semblance of challenge. The combat too, would be enjoyable if it weren't so patronizing. The story is simultaneously as pretentious and dumb as you'd expect from Ninja Theory. Tripitaka is an irredeemable bitch, and Monkey's stockholm syndrome goes from exasperating to fucking retarded*. I'll say for Monkey though, he deals with ladders like a boss- none of that slowly clambering up bullshit, he just shoots right up the thing. This could have been a halfway decent game if it wasn't insulting in nearly every regard. At least the environments are pretty.

*Sure, pass up the opportunity to take off the headband, nevermind that you'll explode if for ANY reason you separate from Trip.

Enslaved was fantastic. Really good story, and fun platforming with solid combat.

One of those games that I think really deserved the after-the-fact hype. The characters were very compelling and flawed. Ending was sad, but appropriate.

I too loved Enslaved. One of my favorite games that released during that year. I felt the ending was more open ended. Sort of like a what now? I guess they were leaving it open for a sequel but it obviously did not sell very well. I always view it as one of those gems that was passed over by the masses.

I thought it was in between terrible and fantastic. I liked the story, art style, voice acting, but I definitely felt that the game was repetitive and held your hand way too much. I thought it was a solid 7.

http://www.destructoid.com/majesco-midnight-city-in-financial-peril-update--283901.phtml

With the news of Majesco and Midnight City, what are all your thoughts on potential sales / delistings?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Majesco stuff eventually disappear, and with Double Dragon Neon never seeing a sale, may be time to finally bite on that.

As for Midnight City, I think they may be a bit safer, or at least their games will be considering Slender and Costume Quest 2 just released within the past month. So probably going to continue waiting on them.

Midnight City

Majesco

Sweet. I was just thinking I want to buy Titanfall digitally. Would love to get it around $15. I bought a disc version and it's probably one of my favorite next gen MP games, but the population is really lacking. I honestly think it's a better game than Advanced Warfare so hopefully this sale will get some more players online.
