That sounds like an excuse for companies to not bother making a quality product. Screw the sound, the sheep will pay our subsidiaries even more money for something we should've included. Not everyone has money to throw away on extras that shouldn't be necessary.

Really bedtime now, gotta get up early to return the TV...

I'm not saying TVs shouldn't include decent speakers. The reality tho, as another poster aptly explained, speakers of any decent quality are not going to fit inside a flat panel TV. Consumers have requested thin, lightweight, & cheap(er) TVs to mount on walls or take up less real estate than the ginormous TVs of yesteryear (I also had a Wega). Adding better speakers would increase the depth of the panel and the price of the unit.

I think mentally going in to any new TV purchase with the expectation of buying external speakers is the way to go; then adjust the price of the unit accordingly (i.e. a $200 TV is not $200). I've seen sound bars quite reasonably priced under $100 - I think even AWD had one for $40 not too long ago.

I think the new TV's are garbage for two main reasons. First while the picture looks good having to buy extra equipment for decent sound is in itself complete rubbish. They can fit itty bitty speakers in tablets that sound terrific, yet can't fit quality speakers in a tv? Second, from reviews and consumer sites I'm getting that these are all now also throwaway units, not made to last like the old tube sets. If a tv costs $200 I'd expect it to last, not just have it for a year or two and have to replace it. I'd really rather have a 100 pound unit that's going to last ten years than a thin piece of plastic that needs to be replaced every couple years.

I have to say. I bought my first hdtv 4 years ago, and is still running like a champ. Philips if anyone wonders. And Philips is still a decent brand if you ask me.

4 years since, I have converted all regular TVs into flat panel TVs, and the sounds aren't too bad. Additional equipment aren't required to enhance your experience...You can fix that ANYTIME, not right away.

One thing I noticed right away was the energy bill getting lower. From that point forward, I became more aware of what's energy efficient, and the bill kept getting lower til I got everything set.

Perhaps, your friend or you can do this, and ur bill goes lower..BOOM! money saved for a better sound bar or surround system :)

Back to topic: I bought madden holiday edition when it was discounted..it was fun getting ultimate cards.

 
I've got like $3 left in my account of converted MSP to money...is there any way to buy Child of Light and pay the difference with a credit card?  Or Paypal?  Or am I just stuck when the three bucks expires in June?  The only options I saw were to use a credit card for the full amount...

Yep, pay with MSP money and as you can't cover the price, they'll ask if you wanna pay the rest with your CC or paypal (in xbox360 it's like that, at least).

 
I only own episode 1 of season 1 of TWD... May end up nabbing the telltale ges collection on the bone on Sunday... Seems to be a pretty good deal for a lot of gameplay...

I think I'm gonna just redeem two $3 cards with my stash of Bing Points and let them keep the difference

On 360, you use a credit card first, then after you confirm it asks if you want to apply your ms credit.

If they really never patch it, then there has to be a soft ban on Gen. The Viper and Ibuki infinites aren't a problem, anyone who can actually land those in a match deserves to win. Gen's infinite I did on accident after screwing around in training for 10 seconds. The even worse part is that it's also an unstoppable guard string.

The daily deals were improving, but this is a cop out. A daily deal for a game that's going to be on sale 50 times in the next year. Not to mention the one sport I'm least interested in playing a video game from.

I actually held out hope that the christmas eve/day sales would be something special. Something rarely on sale or something, so making it NBA 2K15 is especially annoying to me.

Couldn't that person just change his gamertag to something similar to your gamertag. Better yet how bout him giving you credit plus interest to change your gt and can he now change his to your old one. Not sure about the second idea though.
 
I got the Telltale collection.  It includes two season passes.  But my  hard drive were full, so I cancelled the download. Now I can't download the season passes again.  When I go to the game of throne season pass in the store, it says "paused", when I go to the borderland season passes, it asks me to buy again.  What can I do?  Never happend on the 360 before.

Stupid question guys, but if I have the retail disc of Street Fighter X Tekken, can I just buy the character pack that is on sale, or does that only work if you have the digital version of the game?

Try going into your download history - Guide - Settings - Account Management - Download history and trying to redownload from there.

They sound terrific in your tablet because YOU ARE HOLDING IT IN YOUR HANDS, MUCH CLOSER TO YOUR FACE. Those same speakers would sound weak and tinny from a few feet away on the couch.

They CAN fit quality speakers in a Television, however it would require making the TV set deeper and also take up more real estate on the TV's "face' as the speaker cones would have to be deeper and wider, and it turns out that most consumers prefer a slim TV set that is almost entirely picture. Most consumers don't mind springing for an inexpensive soundbar that will greatly improve the acoustics in their setup. You are, apparently, in the extreme minority in this case, and thus you can't expect electronics manufacturers to cater to such a small market.

This is not some marketing ploy, it's simple physics. Larger instruments (Tubas, Cello, etc.) produce LOUDER and DEEPER notes than smaller ones (Flutes, etc.). Larger humans like adult men have deeper voices, and smaller humans like most women and children have higher-pitched voices due to the respective sizes of their larynxes.

I really am a College Professor, I teach science for a living. I know a few things about physics, okay? You won't find a flat-panel that produces sound as well as your old boxy unit. It's a trade off. However, soundbars work very well and are inexpensive. Get the TV now if that's the plan, then a soundbar as a Birthday gift or for next Christmas.

I bought The Walking Dead Season 1 / Season 2 bundle for $25 during Black Friday thinking that there's no way that I wouldn't like it.  I was wrong - I forced myself to play through the first three episodes of Season 1 and have no interest in going any further.  All I saw was clunky play mechanics and slow pacing, and I never felt invested in the characters.  I guess my expectations were too high after seeing all the reviews and high praise from fellow CAG's.

Go to your games and apps from the dashboard and once you're looking at your games, scroll all the way to the right. Everything purchased but not downloaded and also anything deleted should be there. If you see it, press the "start" button on the controller ( don't know what that button's called now) and you should have the option to resume installation.

You can play the DLC with your retail disc, no problem there.

 
I'm tempted to pickup Ridge Racer 6 and even Ridge Racer Unbounded, because nostalgia (for the former).  Wondering how Unbounded felt, though, since it was not developed by Namco internally...

Tekken Tag 2 at that price today is a steal. Should I consider Tekken 6 though?

Well ... Is your gamertag actually awesome? Inquiring minds want to know! I was once offered $100 for my secondary gamertag (forkfu) because some guy wanted my (sons!) COD MW2 stats.

 
I've been offered money for my account, from a friend, but that's only because of my digital games. My GT had nothing to do with it haha

Either way, don't sell your GT. Just tell is what it is.

Yeah, also curious as to what the tag is.

Best one I've seen, (and inappropriate as much as it is funny), was TwoInPinkOneInStink. Not sure if it's still active, but the guy who had it brought a whole game of people to a halt from laughing over noticing his tag.

My first GT was: Mr Slippyfist. I used that for 4 years or so, but I changed it a long time ago. My girlfriend (now fiancé) did not think it was as funny, as I did.

It's a South Park reference, for anyone that is curious.

It works for games. Does it work for season pass as well? I dont see any season passes in the download list

Not sure. I thought so. Have you tried downloading the other episodes? Does it try to charge you? Season passes download almost instantly because it's basically just a key to download the content. i would try going to the games store on your xbox and downloading another episode. It shouldn't charge you.
