It doesn't like to read them when I first put them in. It took me like 15 tries to get it to recognize my Batman disc last night. It's all discs, and it doesn't happen every single time, but most of the time when I go to play a disc game I have to try it multiple times.

Blu Rays seem to have a little more successful (my fiance e reports, I don't really watch a lot of movies) and they are recognized more consistently

Yeah, I'll have to keep an eye on my system as I've had this issue happen before (though not as bad as you described). It was almost always when trying to boot up Master Chief Collection. So I'm not sure if it was the actual disc drive or another issue with that game.

Mine has been going out for a long time now. I have to insert games and movies a number of times before it recognizes them. I also oddly enough have problems with Netflix, the screen turns black and it locks up the console.

I'm just trying to figure out a good time to send the thing back so I don't miss out on alot of gaming. I have a 3 year warranty thorough Walmart, is it better to go straight through Microsoft or them?

Sounds like the discs not reading is a common issue. I know of another person who already had his replaced. I really don't wanna give up my Xbox for 2-3 weeks though, but I really should call then to get it figured out

I have a similar issue too from time to time with certain games. Not sure if it is the same as yours.

I am pretty sure this work around is not at all good for your drive, but it works.

Start by inserting the disc (with your finger in the center of the disc) and allow the XB1 to start to pull the disc in. But don't allow it to pull the disc in all the way. Give it a half second or so pause before letting it go.

I should prefice this by saying that I have a SquareTrade warranty on my XB1, so I am less concerned about damage to my drive.

I would contact Microsoft first, just to see what they say, and so that you have a record with them. I do wonder if it would void your warranty with Walmart if Microsoft does anything to your system. In any case, I'd still contact them just to see what they say. Then you should contact Walmart and inform them about Microsoft's decision if they give you a useful response. If you get offered a free repair or something, you want to just have Walmart clarify how that does or doesn't affect the warranty you have with them.

I played the original on an old PC with severe slowdown so I'm excited to see it on my now primary console. Roguelikes aren't for everyone but I'm excited to see this one come to Xbox One.

I found Issac boring. One of the reasons I don't listen to indie hype anymore. $15 is too much for a game that came out years ago anyways.

If you grew up when Zleda 1/Link To The Past came out for NES you would probably get it. The game is randomized 2D Zelda dungeons. I loved the 1st one on PC.

 
I have heard so much hype about BoI but will definitely wait for it to get cheaper, looks like something that I'm just as likely to hate as I am to enjoy. Tembo seems cool but will wait on that, kinda interesting that it's from Game Freak who made the old gameboy Pokemon games if I remember correctly.

I really hope that with the amount of indie garbage that gets put on X1 that they start doing X1 humble bundles

Do you just hate all indies? I've never understood the crowd that unconditionally hates all independently-made games when there's a large amount of diversity between them across a bunch of genres with different levels of art styles and I'm interested in why they think like that and crusade so hard against them, though I'm not accusing you of going that far.

 
Didn't realize both Tembo and Issac both came out this week. Going to have to wait for a sale on both, but excited to try them out. Especially after seeing the recent Test Chamber video from GameInformer.

Awesome (I am not being sarcastic). I didn't really have the patience to learn what the items did. I felt like I had no clue what I was doing. But I have read that people, much like yourself, have put 100+ hours into it. I'll get around to playing Isaac someday since I already own it on :ps4:.

Different strokes for different folks.

This week is just Tembo for me. QUBE does looks interesting, too. Like a Portal-esque puzzle jam.

Nah, I don't hate them, I don't care where my games come from as long as they're fun. I can't think of a ton of examples off the top of my head but a few I enjoyed were Rogue Legacy, Lococycle, Max:Curse of Brotherhood, The Trine Series (not even sure all those are Indies) I also just purchased The Fall when it came out.

I just really don't want it to become like Steam where there is so much indie garbage flooding the marketplace with what seems like no quality control whatsoever.

Edit. Forgot to mention Thunder Wolves. Played it on Steam, but it was on 360 as well. Very fun and frantic arcade helicopter shooter

Yeah remembering what each item did took me a while and sometimes grabbing the wrong item would end a really good run. In the beginning it's mostly trial and error until you learn what each item does.
 
tembo looks to be right up my alley, I've been eagerly awaiting it for awhile now. If it's good when I play it on Tuesday nigh i'll let you guys know. I'll probably stream it Thursday.

Kings quest comes out this week too, doesn't it? I'm really interested in that. I didn't pre-order the whole bundle but I'll pick up part 1 immediately.
 
Sometimes I wish Microsoft would do surprise sales or flash sales instead of being so stuck on every Monday night.

It feels less and less like date night and more like an old couple that has the once a week schedule.

I've been using the same workaround for my XB1 disc drive and it works like a charm. I would emphasize that you don't pull against the drive and you don't hold the disc back for very long, just the briefest of moments as it first pulls, then you let go right away. I decided to just go with it since I'd had my Xbox over a year when I noticed my disc drive was finicky and I didn't want to deal with the expense and annoyance of replacing it. For the past several months, it's been fine and I honestly don't even think about it now when I put discs in.

I suppose you could flip the game and EA Access, assuming they are both separate codes, and get a new 1TB Xbox for something like $320? Assuming you get $80 for the codes? You could probably get more, but not that much more.

I still like the deco on the 1TB Forza system a lot, and would go that route for getting 1TB instead of any of the other options that have cropped up.

I love almost any opportunity to get a new release for dramatically cheaper. I don't regret my AC bundle purchase, even though we were all taught another lesson about faith in presales. I paid 40 before Unity launched, I expect we can get Madden for 30.

The year of Access is a good deal for a new owner, smart on them.

Doing several bundles offers something for everybody. This fall there are plenty of options for somebody who hasn't yet upgraded to :xb1:. Forza bundle, Gears bundle, Halo bundle, and this Madden one.
Sounds smart to me.
