Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.

Just a heads up. Looks like Rayman Legends is still free for the month of April.
Yeah, it seems pretty much all the Xbone GWGs last 2 months (so there's always 2 titles at a time). Managed to get IDARB, Rayman Legends, Bioshock Infinite, Pool Nation FX, Child of Light, GoW Judgment (already had Terraria) on the same day. April 1st was a good day to use a 1-month gold code if you had one.

Is anyone playing smite? I got a code through the xbox live preview for having accumulated a threshold of points.

Only turned it on for a second before heading to work; any opinions of it?

I like that with the free games on xbox consoles and Ps consoles I have more games than I can play. I still manage to purchase wii u games despite this. Wii-u should kick down a free game 1x per month. Then even nintendo fans can complain the free game sucks.

I find this funny considering I actually bought Pool Nation for the 360 and found it very enjoyable. I was stoked when I heard PN FX would be GWG on the XOne. I love virtual pool.
yep i thought Pool Nation on 360 was great also other than the fact that i could never find anybody online but the one on X1 seems a mess.

After finishing the Resident Evil 5 DLCs I noticed I have nearly 47,000 gs. I'm tempted to buy one of the remaining Double Dragons just to hit 50,000 with it. It still irks me I never bought the arcade Double Dragon.
Is this a reference to The Wizard? If so you just made my day. Loved that movie so much growing up even though its basically just a long promo for SMB3 and the power glove

Many times the game sucks, period. Fact that it is free doesnt actually raise/lower the quality of the game. The price is just metadata, in that argument.

So everytime someone says "don't act entitled, that's a free game you're talking about" I don't get the logic.

If some says its free and feeds you crap, would it taste any good? I am sorry but I don't get the "entitled" logic, neither here nor on PS+ forums. Some times we do put up with crap 'coz it's cheap - that should be an exception not norm.

Of course, it is upto an individual to decide what is good or bad for himself/herself. So, can we argue about the quality of the game without bringing up the price please?

Most people are sheep. The internet is no different. These people see other people online saying how if you have any opinion that differs from the norm that you are "entitled". Following the crowd, these people then go on to call someone else "entitled" when they complain about something. These people are not worth worrying about as they will just jump on whatever trend is most popular at the moment.

I think I may be the only one (though Darby has it too) and it's become my go to game. It's like a MOBA meets a TPS and unlike Neverwinter actually looks like something that belongs on XB1. There's multiple game types too in addition to the standard 5v5 mode that have different pacing which is nice. Of course if you don't like MOBAs YMMV on enjoyment.

I do like that since the alpha started they've done a big patch last week to address a lot of my complaints about the front end UI. Also doing a lot of stuff so far that's very friendly to those who don't want to ever spend a dime. Like most MOBAs the characters can all be bought with just time spent in the game but thread also the option to rent characters for a period so you can try them out without paying much. Character skins are where most of the money is made but a lot of the skins also allow you to purchase them with the free currency (though at a high cost) which you don't see in most games. There's a daily logon bonus that if you log on for seven days straight you get 50 of the premium currency (and sometimes for leveling up as well) that you can use towards things like that.

So I think it's a lot of fun if you want a competitive multiplayer game.

I have a huge backlog right now, but the price of lego marvel xbox one is really tempting. do you think this is a type of game that might be free sometime in the future for xbox one or ps4? I don't remember lego games being free in the past

We played the first level of Judgement last night. Much better than I was expecting. The challenges in every section keep the game enjoyable.

Yeah the campaign is pretty good. I just wish it had included a real Horde mode; I didn't care for the new modes that replaced it.

my cousin and I did every single Declassified Mission on Insane and got three stars on every level. I swear it took us a good 3 weeks of off-and-on again playing to beat the last boss on Insane/Declassified. Holy shit it was intense. I remember when we finally beat it we jumped up off the couch and exchanged man-hugs like Stallone and Carl Weathers in Rocky 3.

I found that the Breechshot and Mauler shield were the best thing to take out the Ragers that swarm in the last section. You just had to hope for headshots against them, or else their rage mode they generated would be unstoppable.

Totally agree. Years ago, mainly during the last gen, I was thinking lots of people were "entitled." Now with the current gen officially here back in 2013, that doesn't apply. XBL and PS+ are quite similar in that you pay in order to play online, receive deeper discounts, get free games monthly, etc. If you don't want to pay, you don't receive those perks. Hop on over to Nintendo's service. You get what you pay for.

Paying customers have the right to voice their opinion. And it's just that, an opinion. Doesn't matter if it's the service going down for a day and you can't play online or the free game of the month is an indie title instead of a AAA game you'd want. Let your voice be heard. However, it's best to have solid reasoning and be polite as you do so else you'll ruffle some feathers and your words shall fall on deaf ears.

Playing the game for some days now (again) still have to go for Insae and all insane declassiefied missions. As for the ragers, I don't understand why people keep shooting them instead of chainsaw, headshot or charge them with a retro lancer. Even when they are enraged they are still beatable, but you need a team that does understand the meaning of crowd control. There is a declassified mission where about 15 of them come at you already engaged, not a problem if the team knows what to do.

It seems the game population has a little bit increased again since the GwG promotion started..which is nice, because campaign with 3 others seems far more enjoyable.

I enjoyed the game's campaign. Provided some of the toughest battles of the series on Insane / Declassified. Though there was 1 section where I felt Hardcore / Declassified was tougher due to a timer (Insane allowed more time than Hardcore).

A lot of people griped about the scoring popping up at the end of every chapter, saying it broke the immersion, but I was fine with it. A straight cinematic campaign would've been fine, but I didn't mind just having it be like the Gears 3 Arcade

damn, forgot about that mission....and for good reason. I remember it took us quite a few hours to get past it. We started playing around noon time and didn't get past it til the sun was setting.

The hard part about insane mode on co-op is that if one guy dies, thats it, the mission fails and you have to start over. You can't revive anyone. So all your teammates have to be perfect in every battle. Its harrowing as fuck but simultaneously exciting and heart-pumping. The thrill of victory when you finally get past a tough battle is unmatched.

In the final battle you'll want to use the Markza or Breechshot simply because the Ragers, when un-raged, are headshot hunters. It's a toss up between which is worse. Avoiding headshots means you'll need cover, but that restricts movement. Avoiding Ragers charging means you'll need mobility. Mobility exposes you to fire, which means you'll probably lose your skull. That's where the Mauler shield comes in. It affords mobility with cover, though you need to remember that you're right side is more exposed. Karn can still charge at you, so you need to be moving and avoid that. It's also tricky because of all of the Nemacyst fire that can kill you instantly, and really hurt with the splash damage.

I understand what you're saying about the chainsaw or retro charge though. That's definitely better on other stages. Plus it jumps the score up due to executions.

It's weird, I really don't recall the beach charge being difficult. Though I do remember defending the beach being really hard. I played through the game solo though, so maybe that's a big difference. Moving up the beach is probably a lot easier when you don't have to worry about your teammates being hit, while defending it is probably much worse since the AI strictly use the Lancer and can get destroyed by charging Maulers.

If you're playing OverRun with friends, make sure to feed the Tickers grenades as Grenadiers. The increased explosion is very effective for taking out clusters of enemies and damaging nearby barriers.

Did you guys see that $50 Xbox credit for 40.50 at best buy? I'm picking one up on my way home. Movers coupon makes it 36.45.

damn wish they had it at that price last week, bought the evolve season pass. Also planing on getting state of decay on Xbone but really don't plan on getting anything else soon. Might be nice to have some extra credit for sales but meh

So the daily Special Event Ribbon continues at least for another week:

Quick update for everyone: This is going to continue for (at least) another week guaranteed (new ribbon deployment at ~8:30am PST each day, including weekends). At this pace, hopefully people who have been striving for this for awhile can finish up and those who just started can still have a chance at completion.

As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks guys,
Jon
That's good, even though I won't make it to 30 with that, but glad they do it anyway...otherwise it could literally take ages with an update only every 2 weeks or more...(also when you have the same ribbon ID already it won't count)

The $45 + bonus $5 gift card at $40.50 is the best deal, since it's 19% off the $50 credit you get for it.
Oh yeah, I know. Movers coupon makes it even better.

I still haven't spent the $50 I got for $25 a month ago though. (bb had a bunch of them on a peg tagged $24.99)

Also I'm slightly disappointed...we got Easter Sales (at least here in Europe) for the last couple of years...it appears there isn't an extra sale this weekend hum. At least nothing was announced.

Maybe we'll get one on the middle of the month this year. Easter is probably too early and close to the last flash sale this year for them to coincide. At least we should have the golden week sale at the end of the month to look forward to. Hopefully that's as spectacular as previous years.

How long did it take you guys to [customspoiler=spoiler]storm the beach[/customspoiler]? That was the one that gave me the most problems.
I hated that part. I'm fairly sure that was the longest section of the game for me, especially since the AI seemed incapable of reviving me.

Finally finished the 360 version of Forza 2 presents F&F.  The cargo plane finale was so much more a pain in the butt compared the X1 version.  I lost to the plane like 4 times by sec and then I run the course 7 seconds faster than before and I STILL lost by 2 sec.  Finally got that bastard though. Immediately deleted it from my hard drive.

Anyone else here get the corrupted movie screens in Child of Light?  I checked the GameFAQs board and the solution was to reinstall it.  I did that and it didn't work.  I don't really want to try that a few more times, so I wondered if anyone else had that problem and what they did to fix it.

Watching some Youtube videos, it seems like the 360 version was a lot harder compared to the X1

It was way harder. It felt like the only thing that the difficulty setting actually affected was the rival driver AI. Every event that wasn't just a simple race against other cars was very tough, even on Easy.

I can't believe that NBA Live 15 doesn't have the option to edit rosters like any other sports game. The closest way of doing that is starting up a franchise and doing everything via trades if you wish to move people around.

Thanks. I will definitely try it out. I like it when items can still be obtained without paying cash money. The graphics looked good too.

I bit on marvel lego. I realized the xbox 360 lego movie was a fiver, but the x1 was 9. I'd rather have it on the x1, but can't see the value of paying double. I suppose I'll have to wait. 5 dollars for a retail release is a price point I aim for lego games.

There were several stages that I had a lot of difficulty with. The only way I could beat those was by disabling auto breaking. The cargo plane was one of those levels.

I liked that they were not identical in structure but you are right the difficulty was way out of whack. It was also strange the cars handled so much differently also. I was trying to figure out why they would even do that. The Jeep in the 360 version was an absolute pile of crap and made that chopper race so much more difficult.

I had the most issue with the Jeep section as well. The bumps were bad enough, but the straight lines killed the Jeep as the Heli was much faster. Surprisingly, I found the Cargo Plane bit much easier, only having to do it twice. Although having to use
the shitty starting car over the newer ones
along with no nitrous, made it unnecessarily difficult.

That above mentioned $45+$5 pack for $40.xx s so tempting, I just wish my nearest Best Buy store wasn't such dimwits since it's no longer available for delivery.

The last time I ordered a digital card on sale for in in-store pickup it was a nightmare--somehow they never activated it, probably because they put my order label over the entire backside of the card, seriously who would think that's the smart thing to do? I ended up having to: email BestBuy.com who sent me to call MS (with the wrong number so they had to transfer me to a totally different operation), MS couldn't do anything with it and had to email me their findings, then I had to forward the email back to BestBuy.com who could only refund my sale price and offered me nothing in return. Thanks Obama, I mean, Best Buy.

Not that anyone would have a reason to hold onto it, but I'd highly recommend banking that MS currency as soon as you get it if you do an in-store pickup, just in case there's an issue you can at least find out right away.
