I just came back in from outside with my 2 youngest. We cleaned the garage, back yard and vacuumed the car out. I said a couple of naughty words when I came back inside and realized Goat Simulator still wasn't available. I wish it would hurry so I could get to ignoring these brats.

And for all of you over sensitive people.

I'm just kidding. I've been a parent for 20 years and love my family (most of the time).

I just tried, still get the same error as you. I was able to download AC just fine - I suppose you were able to, too.

I just picked up Metro disc from GS for $13.xx. Is there a way to go back to the game selection screen without a hard reset? I want to play the 2nd game first but I accidentally started the 1st (2033)

Did you try having your 360 download while turned off? I queued up both games before leaving for work this morning and both appear to have downloaded completely (available in My Games, no (!) incomplete downloads under storage).

 
Is it better to run games off of a USB drive or an external hard drive? I'm excited for new update but I don't know whether I should get an external HDD or just grab a couple USBs. 

P.S. Do you know if it's possible to use a partitioned drive?

I used 32Gb sticks a while ago, now I have a 1 TB attached just because it has more space...as for running games I didn't notice any differences. I would even dare to say my games run as smooth as playing them from my internal HDD. And my external HDD is kinda old by now. (Have it for more than 6 years now)

As for partitioned drives afaik neither the One nor the 360 allow that =O

P.S. Keep in mind that USB sticks might not be as durable as an external hdd, even more when they are cheap.

Apparently the GF has a spare 2 terabyte external, but it plugs into the wall instead of using the USB to power itself. Do we know if that would work or not? I've heard they work on Wii U, I assume if they do on Xbone it should be fine.

Have to wait anyways, I thought I'd be able to opt in to the dashboard update thing like the old ones years ago, but seems it's just random chance to get invited.

 
Any thoughts on Defense Grid 2? I kind of liked the first one way back when -- It must have been a long time ago because it was the first game I ever bought on Steam

It's more of the same, with a longer campaign and more detailed story. Lots of AI characters with different voices and personalities, although some of us find them annoying after a while. Online multiplayer but the lobby/menus in general are awful and make it take too many steps to get together and play. If you like the first game and want a bigger version with 2-player, I do recommend it at the sale price.

Has a handful of easy achievements. As soon as I finished the prologue tutorial, about 16 achievements popped up one after another. 800-900gs easy with one play through of story mode which is 20 missions. The two most time consuming ones would be kill 50k aliens, and get 100 gold medals on any mission. You'd have to go through the different modes of the 20 available levels. However, If you play mission 15 on grinder mode easy, you can place 4-5 fully upgraded concussion towers, and 1 or 2 temporal, and you can just get up and leave the game running without monitoring for 15min to get a few thousand alien kills.

The game itself I found it to be like the old DG, cept it felt a lot shorter. I played the entire campaign on normal difficultly, and when you get the concussion tower, the game stopped being challenging for me. The left bumper lets you perform a do-over of previous actions, and I found that to be too much of an advantage, but it did come in handy a few times.

MP seems dead for me. I only connected to 1 person with MP and screen froze before I got to play, so If anyone wanna boost the 4 MP achievements message me.

Don't worry the hard drive will work fine, mine is plugged to the wall too =P It would kinda suck if only USB powered hard drives would work lol =P

Why is that? An external HD (obviously non SSD) has mechanical parts which will break down eventually, a USB uses flash media. I would think if you take care of your USB sticks they would last longer. I left a cheap one in my pants and ran it through a wash cycle by accident and it still works.

I didn't say that this is true for all USB sticks, however they tend to malfunction quite more often in general. Also the USB sticks heat up quite a lot when you attach them to your 360 for a longer time period. At least 2 of my sticks died because of overheat while attached on the 360. (Wasn't a big loss since I got them for free and they were only like 2 GB).

To me, Goat Simulator screams of Surgeon Simulator and Octodad in that the novelty wears off very quickly. I guess my biggest problem with both of those games is the controls are purposely cumbersome and difficult which is a turn off. I understand that those games wouldn't be fun with good control, but that's just not how I want to experience a game. Does Goat Simulator have any staying power and are the controls actually decent or are they intentionally broken for humor purposes?

Thumb drives have a limit to the number of times you can write/save to it. The closer you are to that limit, the more likely it is to fail, so you can't rely on them as long term solutions.

And Flash memory Read/Write speed varies dramatically as does HD's. One benefit of external HD's I like is they use a cable so they can be put to the side.

Controls work, but there are other things not fixed on purpose. Mostly ragdoll related. The only part that I hate being broken is Flappy Goat. The hit detection is a bit off. Never was fixed to be fair to the people that got the achievement when the game first game out on PC. Not impossible, I got it on PC, but really hard.

To get more time out of the game, if you don't like just messing around, don't use a guide. I played at the same time as a friend last night and we had a blast finding everything.

So, this is probably a stupid question, but is Goat Simulator on Xbox a significantly different experience from Goat Simulator on Android phone?

Also, I get the joke with "GOATY", but can we just agree on the acronym "GOAT" = "Game of All Time", and leave off the trailing " Y"?
