Some f2p RTS game I believe, it's been out on 360 for a while and they announced it was coming out to the One so that might be why it's listed there.

What you are missing is the Wii U ports are seriously underpowered. Not sure if they chose that to deter vWii piracy or what, but their power output is just pathetic. The 360 however not only will power every USB drive I have thrown at it, including the picky WD Passport, but it powers up both drives running off the front USB hub.

Got a birthday coming up, so starting to look at the usb hd's. Which ones will work on the old arcade unit using only one usb port? I use a wired controller, so anything needing a Y cable to power it is not something I'd consider...I'm guessing I need a usb 2.0 drive? Or any will work that use an external power supply?

Gotta start looking at brick & mortar stores for sales/clearences since buying online also isn't an option.

You should just try moving to 2015. Living in ten years ago doesn't sound like it's working out very well.

Costco has decent prices on seagate ones. I don't go to many stores though. Mostly buy online.

I have so many questions...

To answer YOUR question though, it's a little tough because I have no idea what country you're in. If you're in the U.S., your best bet is to stick with best buy, h.h.gregg or as Donken said, Costco. And I'm pretty sure any usb drive will work. It shouldn't have to be 2.0.

I don't get the sarcasm from everyone...so not being helpful with my actual question. I've never had reason to research external HD's before, and the last internal HD I bought was for my pc back in 2006.

Seeing all the posts saying you need a Y cable, or usb 3.0 needs more power, that's all confusing to me since I know absolutely nothing about HD's. So no real clue which drive will work for my system with only one cable.

As for the wired controller, I sit literally three feet away from my xbox, no need to waste money on batteries or buying charge kits when my wired controller works fine for me.

The whole not buying online thing, that's just how we do things. We don't buy online, especially electronics where anything can go wrong with whatever it is. Prefer to be able to return to the store instead of dealing with shipping and whatnot. Wasn't really asking about where to buy, just what HD to go looking for where it'll run off a single usb port on the old system, you know, in case it needs to be some specific type or something.

I'm in the same situation as you, I'm leaving right now looking for a cheap USB 3.0 one, I had no problem with the other one on either X360, Wii or old PCs. If it doesn't work then I'll just bring it back and look for a USB 2.0 drive.
 
Praxus, if you are limited to only using one usb port then your best bet would be one of the bigger external drives that have their own power supply such as the WD My Book or the Seagate Backup Plus.  The smaller ones rely on usb to power them.

I have 3 of these Western Digital drives in my home. I've had a 2tb for around 2 years now and never had an issue. They make this particular model in 1,2,3, and 4 tb versions. 4tb is $140 at Best Buy right now. Unless you have an obscene amount of content for your 360, I'd bet 2tb will be more than enough for you. I store a large number of games on demand and arcade titles on my machine. With updates and DLC, I still only use about 1.5tb.

If you want to expand your buying options, most stores allow you to return online orders locally. I did it at Walmart when I was shopping for a cheap enclosure and had no issues with returning. Most of the major retailers have the same policy.

Anyways, I get not upgrading. I still use an original model 360 from 2007, with I think an upgraded fan after a RROD in 2009. I don't have any 3.0 USBs to test, but I think they should work without a Y-cable anyways since 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0. I guess until we have a bit more documentation, the best thing to do is look up the specs of the HDD you're considering and see if the 360 ports put out enough power for it.

All the 2.0s I've tried work once formatted, and if your looking for the cheapest HDD you can find it'll probably be 2.0 anyways. You could also play it totally safe and get a non-portable external. If you don't move your console around much it doesn't really matter. The biggest inconvenience is having another power outlet taken.

 
I highly recommend a western digital my passport ultra 1 or 2tb. It has usb 3.0, does not need another power source, it's small and works great with the Xbox 360 and one. The 2tb should be 79-99 and the 1tb 49-59. Anything in that range and you're getting a good deal.
 
What's the date night theme gonna be this week?

I tried CastleStorm last night. The gameplay is really fun, the cut scenes are annoying though. Luckily they can be skipped.

It's odd though. I haveCastleStorm on my Shield Tablet and I can't pinpoint it, but I find it much less enjoyable on Xbox One. Maybe it's just a case of the touch controls feeling better.

Do you still need to use a primary boot sector for the 360 to recognize it? If not, you could partition two halves of a 4TB and use them both. I already partitioned a portion of a drive I have for software, otherwise I'd check myself. :(

 
Could anyone suggest a decent headset for a 360, i've been buying those $10 ones and they pretty much last for 4 months at best. Considering that I can only order from eBay and Amazon, and don't see myself spending more than $50 on a headset.

I've always been a fan of the official wireless in ear headset that doubles as a Bluetooth headset. I went through many headsets last gen and that one is still going strong. Just gotta find it.
 
Alright, Thank you guys for answering my questions...I'm taking notes...lol.

Also yes, my xbox doesn't get moved around, so I don't need the external HD to be small, lightweight, or portable at all, once it's hooked up it won't ever be moved. Having the external power source might be a good thing for me to look at, not having it draw power from the xbox usb might be helpful since the system is an old one.

How much is the Star Wars digital movie collection normally? On X1 right now it's $95. I thought it was usually $100. That's not much of a sale, if that's the case.
 
My 2TB WD Passport Ultra arrived from Amazon.  I had looked at the dimensions on the page, but it didn't sink in exactly how small the drive is.  If the (original Elite) 360's USBs can handle the power requirements with a single port, then I at least have a Y cable for when I need more space on the Wii U.

Don't forget that if you buy the digital collection you get an R2-D2 avatar prop and some pinball tables as well. Nothing amazing, but if those interest you it's something to consider with it. I think that offer expires on May 5th (Revenge of the 5th).

Could anyone suggest a decent headset for a 360, i've been buying those $10 ones and they pretty much last for 4 months at best. Considering that I can only order from eBay and Amazon, and don't see myself spending more than $50 on a headset.

I like single-ear headphones because that way I can still hear my wife yelling at me. :rofl:

Decent quality-to-price ratio. Can be used as-is with an X360 controller, or get the stereo adapter for X1 to use with that (which I prefer because I can funnel game audio as well through the headset).

 
Shadow Jago in Killer Instinct will be getting his own moveset. Only took 3 days for them to reach $100,000. This should also help with Season 3 becoming real.

I don't think you can beat this one for $36 (used to be $60), great sound quality and much sturdier and longer lasting than those cheap disposable headsets.

That's cool, but I already have all the SW pinball tables and avatar props aren't much use to me anymore since I pretty much only play X1 (not that they were much use on the 360, though). It does kinda bum me out that my Evil Dead necronomicon prop is going to waste. I loved that little guy.

Hmm I'm thinking alien isolation on sale on Xbox one and yeah probably a rockstar sale on 360, seems like it's been a few weeks. I know people are itching to get on those 7.50$ rockstar games and $5 bully
 
Well with the playoffs going down now

im certain an nba sale is coming soon

as for tonite who knows,last weeks capcom sale was pretty good so hopefully this sale aint to bad

just annoying that theirs alot of old 360 games that would be good on sale but still havent been

I'd be happy with a sale on Alien Isolation if it's cheaper than physical. So... Not going to be happy.
