I agree with most of the sentiment regarding the lack of sales on XB1. I am fortunate enough to own every console and I can definitely see that the sales this generation are much more plentiful on PS4.

However, last generation, X360 was dominating in the sales department. I remember getting awesome deals w/ Summer of Arcade. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Charlie Murder, Deadlight, Bastion - the list goes on and on. 

XB1 has a massive amount of digital-only games - so it is not like they are lacking there. For whatever reason, they rarely put them up on sale. 

Let's see what happens this week's common release, Badland. This title is $9.59 on sale for PS4. When it goes live on XB1, I am sure it will be full price, $11.99.

It is weird, but whatever, I love both systems.

'Achievements" might just well be the staple point to MS (for me) Gears of war and F'n HALO <--- another staple. My lil brother long ago abandoned console nation and left into the clouds to join PC gods, he now calls me "console peasant." ohh well hehe; although I don't blame him next gen graphics on PC look mind blowing, and overall PC graphics would kick console pictures any day.

I keep seeing people want Shovel Knight for stuff. GWG on Xbox, part of the Humble Bundle for Wii U/3DS. I just don't see it happening for a while. It's gotten a ton of praise since it launched months ago and was in tons best of the year lists, it must be selling pretty well due to overwhelming praise.

It has a bunch of free DLC still on the way and it JUST launched on PS4/Xbone, and it's pretty much self published after a Kickstarter campaign, they probably aren't going to do anything free or ultra cheap sale for a while. It was on sale on Nintendo stuff a few months back for just $5 off.

Anything considered promotional balance does. At least they let you know instead of letting it quietly expire.

It will use the expiring funds first for any purchase.

Thanks for the quick response the following continued rant isn't directed at you..

Well since Microsoft has never given me promotional funds I'm going to assume this was my points that converted to currency which is basically the same as cash in my opinion. Yet on PSN Sony has given funds as promotion several times and they have never expired, of course I could have went through it before it did since I spend far more money there, but even Nintendo's network I've had a balance sitting there for years without this nonsense.

Reading through the thread it looks like this is happening to several people.. I just don't get how people can continue to support Microsoft and this bs. Crap sales and policies like expiring balances etc.. smh..

LA Cops is really glitchy and has tons of stupid game mechanics. It only really starts getting fun when you fully upgrade your peeps, as the stupid AI, the ridiculous see-and-shoot-through-walls and such don't make you die so often. Avoid LA Cops, Rogue Legacy is a much better game. Really lenghty, fun, deep, played it tons on PC, glad it's out on X1 finally.

A buddy of mine and I had a conversation that went almost exactly like this. He said he was disappointed that we get yet another ID@xbox game and I said I'd love to see MS use a game like Ryse to bolster confidence in the program. Just seems like small devs get screwed over when using a brand new game for GwG; I can't see the compensation outweighing the potential sales. But that's my opinion and nothing more. I'll take the game and throw it into my backlog with everything else!
 
I will never, ever, understand why so many people dislike indie games - or think they are less worthy than 'AAA' titles. Just because a game is developed by a small team doesn't make it any less worthy of playing. For those that do not like a game simply because it is independently developed, please share your rationale with me. I am curious. Let me peek behind the curtain of your opinions.

Well because for every Ori, Rogue Legacy, Axiom Verge, etc. the market is being over saturated with shovelware. Look at PS+ last month.

Yeah it seems a little odd that there aren't any details about that. Almost seems to suggest it will be free for all regardless of whether they played it before the end of last year. Or maybe it will only be made available to those people this week and a paid version will be coming later? Or maybe no one cares enough to get the details since they flubbed the launch so badly?

I'm looking forward to it. Halo MCC has gotten pretty solid over the last couple of patches and ODST was one of my favorites. I'll be happy to play it again in 60 fps.

 
Am I crazy or was Halo ODST given to early MCC purchasers? I've since aborted my game collection of that title and wasn't sure if it was a standalone download or something that will only be accessible through that game?

I watch indie films because often time they're better than the 100 million dollar blockbusters sequels hollywood always comes out with. The same doesn't imply to video games in my opinion. I don't get the same satisfaction when playing indie titles like Guacamelee or Trine compared to Bloodborne, Borderlands, Dying Light, Shadow of Mordor, DA:I, etc

Even though I am middle-aged, I have no real fondness or nostalgia for retro styled games. I don't like side-scrolling platformers in most cases, so that rules out a lot of indie games. I also don't appreciate games that are minimally styled or have simple mechanics. I like the idea of being enveloped in the graphics, sound, feel and presentation that many AAA games provide. Basically, I feel like indie games are like eating salad at a steakhouse. Yes, salad can be nice, but I much prefer the AAA presentation and fullness of a sizzling steak and sides. I suppose if I had more time to play all the AAA games I wanted, I would eventually get bored of them and turn to salad, but for now, I'm happy getting morbidly obese on steak.

Unfortunately missed out on the free ODST deadline by a couple days, partially thanks to Amazon shipping me a PS3 copy of Advanced Warfare for some reason at first instead of MCC on the X1. Either way, the game definitely improved, but it's still missing basic features and is still unstable, plus the netcode is horrible, which is something not getting fixed at all methinks. As such, not really shelling out money for ODST, unless it gets a giant sale or somehow ends up free for me as well anyway. When they can't ship a game where the basic features work, I'm not trusting them with my money on DLC - too bad because ODST had one of the finest campaigns overall. Maybe when it gets discounted or something.

OMG, this. And the main reason I am waiting to go next gen. Microsoft can keep harping all the indie games they want. I'm not going next gen until AAA next gen only games start releasing (e.g., Battlefront, The Division, etc. The Witcher 3 and Arkham count, too, but I'm not buying a new console for single player games that I can play at any time in the future...)
