You can still have 100% in the base game. It has 1100 Gamerscore, 50 for each pre-order DLC - the base game is still 1000. It's exactly the same as a game released day/date with DLC. At least the Season Pass will eventually allow you access to all the retailer exclusive bonuses.

 
I don't know if it had any gamerscore and I don't have time to check but for those of you with ea access, there is a pga tour chievo for playing a full 18 hole course before the game comes out.
 
No clue, I'm not big on achievements, I just saw one pop up yesterday when I was playing and when I realized it was so time specific (before the game releases tomorrow) that some completionists would be annoyed to buy the game and miss out on it.
 
For me, if there are no points attached, I couldn't care less about a challenge achievement. Usually you get a cool background wallpaper or trivial in-game item for doing them, though.

I think the idea of challenges are neat, but they really haven't been implemented well at all. Too many have such a short time limit that they're only available to diehards. Achievements at least have that Gamerscore to entice gamers. Challenges are almost an afterthought. But it seems that the majority of players who go after a score care only about the GS. So to each his own :)

 
I do love achievements but MS has made it into a ridiculous amount this gen, lol. I mean you get them for watching shows or speech text tutorials.

Then there is the halo and rare collection which have hundreds of achievements with thousands of points.
 
FWIW, with the 50% bonus and PUR at GS, you can trade in Saints Row Re-Elected, State of Decay, and Sleeping Dogs DE and go digital on all of them and still make a little bit in credit.

This is my basic complaint too. As a fellow cheapass who doesn't buy games at release, I don't get a chance to earn these challenges because of their time-sensitive nature. Earning as many challenges as possible seems to require a day one purchase for most games, else never get them. Thus, I don't care about challenges and have maybe a dozen through the year and a half I've had the console.

Not what I was saying. Groo complained about Arkham Knight having achievements linked to retailer exclusive pre-order DLC. I pointed out that Arkham City previously had this with the Robin DLC, so it's not the first time the franchise had this. City had multiple achievements for the Robin DLC, while Knight only has one achievement for the Red Hood DLC.

yeah, everything feels a little "oversaturated" now that we get points and achievements for everything. I know they couldn't pick and choose who got 200 points versus 1000 on the old arcade games, but some just don't feel worthy of 1k. And on the flip side, some games felt like they needed more than the quaint 200/400 points. So while I understand the intentions behind making all games able to release with 1000, it seems like too many devs are adding Title Updates and new achievements strictly as a means to garner new purchases, rather than achievements reflecting exactly what they should be reflecting; accomplishments in the games. As a GSwhore, I'm not all against it, but I do recognize the devaluing of GamerScore as more easy games flood the market. That's why I use TA...while nothing official, it makes your points a little more true in terms of what they're worth compared to other gamers. Sixty Second Shooter's TA score is nothing compared to Prototype's score, for example.

TrueAchievements is highly flawed, though.  The very nature of the site leads to contradiction of what it seeks (and the name oxymoronic).  Far too often difficult achievements are cheated for, making the value of them lessen, in some cases to a very high degree, meaning that the creation of the site instigates further competition for virtual numbers, making people cheat to get some which affects the genuine ratio.

Basically challenges are a more interesting idea as they offer gamers legitimate goals that test those who actually play for the sake of playing, but companies fail to support these (especially beyond the first two months of release), making them a worthless concept.

 
I agree somewhat. The only reason I use TA is to find a co-op partner for older games that have achievements tied to MP/online campaign missions that would be otherwise impossible to get. I don't actively "boost" very often but I'll help someone out if I'm asked.

I have to disagree with this. I'd say it is very rare to find a cheater at TA that hasn't had their score removed. Outside of TA there is less regulation. MS tries to stop cheaters, but cannot always do so as quickly as sites such as TA. There are many hard achievements at TA that barely anybody has unlocked. The higher difficulty does increase competition because of their higher TA scores, but they encourage more effort, not cheating. If I hadn't heard Dark Souls was supposed to be very hard, I would not have tried so hard to get all the achievements. Unlike on Xbox Live, it is very easy to call out somebody for cheating on TA.

Speaking of high TA scores, I just noticed that ESO is the highest scoring game right now. I love ESO, so hopefully my TA score will be increasing greatly in the near future. I'm really close to unlocking some that only 1% of TA members have unlocked. I think TA's biggest problem is that it only includes members of their site. It is necessary to filter out cheaters easier, but also a bit disappointing not knowing how I compare to everybody on XBL.

EDIT: If you are referring to boosting and not "real" cheating, then yeah that is all over TA. There is a huge debate over whether boosting is cheating that has been argued many times in the past. I'm fine with boosting because they are actually completing what the achievement requires. Although it can mess with leaderboards, which really sucks. Boosting is the only way to unlock some achievements in dead games. I'm not okay with people uploading their profiles to a program then unlocking whatever achievements they want without actually meeting the requirements.

I feel like its cheating but only when you haven't put an honest effort into getting it "legit" (without organized help) first. Like for instance, I boosted two achievements this year: the one for 1000 Respect Points in Mortal Kombat and another for healing 10000 HP in Transformers Rise Of The Dark Spark (don't judge me).

The reason I boosted MK is because there are SO MANY bitter and salty gamers that will give you 1, 2, 3, even ZERO points regardless if you win one match or if you run the table in the lobby. Its bullshit. Getting that thing legit would have taken 6 months to a year. Sorry, I have other games I need to get around to.

And for Transformers....well...nobody plays the damn thing lol. I pretty much had to find a boosting partner.

GameStop sells it used for $6.29 with PUR not that I enjoy setting foot in a GS store. I would only buy as a download it if it has a decent campaign since I'm sure multiplayer is long dead.
 
I actually like that "SPACE MARINE!" part, because in other series where humans fight monsters or orcs or whatever, they never share a common language. In the Warhammer universe, greenskins are very intelligent and in some ways superior to humans.

You should know that the game ends kind of abruptly though as there were sequels being planned before THQ's closure put the kibosh on that.

It is cheating, but I understand your examples. Depending on others to reward your victory is absurd (what the hell were they thinking having that in a fighting game?). What's really weird is playing with people who talk about boosting, but then complain about that game. I played Halo 3 with a guy who just bitched the entire time about boosting all 10,000 kills for Seriously ... in Gears of War, 'because it took so long and the game was shit.' When I asked him "Why bother with it?" he just got angry, like I didn't 'get it.' In the GameCube/PS2/Xbox days and before if you hated a multiplayer or campaign you would have traded it, sold it, or just put the game back on the shelf, and not wasted hours over numbers.

Interestingly, I recall when TA were cracking down on PC hackers who would mod data information to unlock achievements without even playing many people came forward admitting to cheating, yet also demanding enforcement not be done as they had done it, and then defending their need to cheat so that their score stayed high. It's just lame.

Bloomy, I used a 48 trial card last night and was still able to get the Xbox One Games with Gold titles free, and the Gold Deals with no issue. People ask about this weekly so if you can mention it works in the first post hopefully people see it and know it works (only on the One).

It did feel a bit like Gears, I think because of the movement and weight of the characters. It was fun, I did enjoy it when I played it. I got it free through PSplus a few years ago, so I might have felt differently had a paid for it. SPACE MARINE!!

 
OK, so I upgraded to the new 3.5mm controller. Is is just me or is there absolutely no way to change volume like they claimed? I know there's a dashboard update coming that would make it easier, but I assumed I'd be able to do it in some form right now. I have no sound at all.

Go to settings and devices. You can control the volume and mic once you click on the controller.
 
I just went ahead and got KI the complete collection. For that price, why not. I highly doubt a retail version was coming anyway. Maybe with season 1 & 2, but I'm sure the originals wouldn't be a part of it.

That game is pretty great. It's not cover-based and slightly more melee focused (still a lot of guns, though), so there are significant differences from Gears, but it is a very under-appreciated game. I love the lore and other stuff in that game. From the sayings on loading screens to the way other soldiers address your character really made me interested in that universe. I wish the other games were on consoles or more easily accessible. I really hope there is some sort of sequel to this game.

That being said, i'm pretty sure I recall this game being cheaper than $8 in the past. It was free for PS Plus members quite awhile ago.

It's flaky.

My solution has been to use a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and the male/male stereo 3.5mm cord to my speakers. Apparently, something about that connection it doesn't like, so it greys out the selection. When I use the male/male to my actual headphones, success. Same 2-ring plug, it has to be something about the 3.5mm to RCA.

Now it works. I don't know. Whatever.

Apologies if this has been asked before or if there is a dedicated thread, but I couldn't find a reference to it.  Is there any way to get an invite to the preview program?

Be friends with someone already in it and they can send you an invite from within the Preview app.

This is why I will buy a headset adapter for any :xb1: controllers I have, even the new ones with the headset jack. Those buttons rule.

I'll probably grab another at some point, but I'm waiting to see what the new quick settings is going to be like.

Getting more in credit than what I paid for it a month ago was too appealing. The new shoulder buttons are worth it.

Is the MP still active? I watched some gameplay vids on YT and it looks like my cup of tea.
