Nowadays, I tend to get certain games digitally - if I know I'm going to love playing it and plan on playing for a while (negating any potential decent trades), I'll probably go digital this generation. Right now, there are only 2 games on the horizon that fit that - Forza 6 and SW:BF. With the Golden Crisp coupons, it's almost as good as BB GCU. Other games, I'll buy physical (AC and Tomb Raider) because I'll trade them when the value is high and then rebuy when it drops way down digitally.

Honestly, it's all great content, I hate to recommend getting what's on sale now and then Mass Effect stuff goes on sale, but chances of that are low. Also, I don't think all three MEs have had content on sale at the same time. It's usually just one at a time.

Same here on all counts and most Forza fans are hyped. They've had proper time to develop this one since it's not a launch title like 5 was. In a way, I admire their decision with 5 to have less content with better quality as opposed to Gran Turismo 5 which had tons of cars as always, but many of them were models from GT4 on PS2. Yuck.

It's a PITA that it hasn't hit $5 with all the sales it's had, but the quality for cost ratio is enormous. At five, I'd be highly tempted to go digital even though I still have the disc.

I do feel like having an exclusive skin is just begging for harassment online though. If any CAGs enter be sure to post about it so I can vote for you.
 
I don't really understand the gameplay of Don't Starve. I've read a review or two but they didn't touch on the gameplay really. Has anyone here played it that wouldn't mind summing it up in a few words? It looks like a game I'd enjoy from the screenshots but I'm not sure.

It is a survival game. Think Minecraft without going building custom stuff/mining underground. Start with barely anything and scavenge for resources. Build shelter, build tools, hunt animals, don't starve, etc. I don't think Xbox One version comes with co-op.

EDIT: Plays like a roguelike so I think perma death and randomly generated levels.

It was ok. It has all the tropes of point and click adventure games from the 90s, including ridiculous logic reasoning. You can't expect it to be like Telltale's more modern games.
 
Mixed feelings on Madden this year. First online game was worse than any in 15, impossible to kick lag. I did get a very amusing safety from a punt that bounced off a helmet into the end zone.

The biggest changes I've seen so far are with passing. QB has 5 different throws available (maybe 6 if not holding a button counts as a separate type of pass). While the ball is in the air, you can press and hold a button to change how the receiver goes for the ball, same with defense. Previous Maddens have had something similar, but now it is the main focus of offense.

The one new mode that is making me want to buy the game is Draft Champion. I need to play for to fully understand it. I know you are presented with 3 coaches with different play styles. You pick one then are presented with 3 players at various positions. Pick one then continue another 13 times and hopefully you picked wisely and got a decent team. The last round for me had 3 retired high rated players. I don't know if they always save them for last. If you see a decent QB in round 9, do you take him or hope a better one shows up in later rounds? The part I don't understand is how long you use your team before you re-draft. It looked like maybe 3 for single player mode and I have no idea for online.

Thanks for the impressions. Do you know if it has Team Play? I know last year you could only do 1v1 online where as the year before you could do 3v3 2v2 etc.

The 360 current emulation has frame rate issues and getting multi disc games to work. Everything else has already been accounted for.

I don't see why getting the original xbox emulated would be a huge project. I'd be glad if it happens because I know my OG XBox only has a limited shelf life. Amazingly enough I booted up my OG XBox this week after removing the clock capcitor and it still runs! The hard drive is way over ten years old and the DVD tray still reads games. The OG XBox was a friggin' beast in the hardware department.

I got just as hooked on MUT last night as I was last year. Madden always knows how to suck me in. The 10 hour trial will probably be enough for me until it hits EA Access, though. Especially with Forza coming soon.

Yep, same offer as my store. The signage even showed in fine print that the console was w/o Kinect and refurbished. And as the first 50 people were in line probably the night before (at the latest by 6:00 AM), I felt fine missing out on the deal regardless of how good it was.

Only reason I bought the first one was for easy achievements and the absurdity behind the concept of the game. It was fucking horrible. The novelty has worn off and I'm not getting the new one.

I'll be getting new Goat Sim if they price it right. MMO was free dlc and zombie was $5 on PC. Would be great if it were only $5 at least for current owners. First game still fun to play, unless going for the flappy goat achievement. I hated that one.

Beware of Pure Hold Em. Me and a buddy bought it on PS4 and apparently the only way we can play online together is if one of us starts a private game and invites the other. No way to play with a friend and random online people at the same time. Huge oversight, IMO.

Edit: Also, I couldn't join any tournaments when I tried. Just open tables where people constantly drop in/out (no elimination).

Who the hell is clamoring for this? Make new xbox games, support current projects, put out more than a one function half assed dlna media player, roll that new ui out that hopefully has a smaller snap window for background music, do something new on the hot new tech... just stop wasting resources building emulators. I can see the draw of old games from out of print consoles, that's been around as long as we've had consoles. I'd rather see a reboot of kotor that misses the mark, over $20 for a crappy port that includes all of my favorite game breaking bugs for that true classic experience. Gfx are not everything, there are plenty of classic and newer games I like for the gameplay or story, but I have a serious backlog of games that play well and tell a competent story, and oh happen to not look like total ass and happen to have the advantage of the growth in gaming conventions over the last 15 years (saving, menus in general, remappable controls, B = no, etc not cons).

^ I've held on to one game from the original Xbox - still in mint condition. One of my favorite games of all time. I've played through it on original Xbox. Then again on 360. And it would be pretty cool to pop it into my XB1 and play through it once more...

I think it would be pretty neat if they added original Xbox to BC.  Then Groo could play KOTOR again, too.
