Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.

Watch MS exile everyone or something dumb.
Something dumb... Like fraud protection?

You know I find it pretty funny that I get chewed out for not buying a crappy game I got credit for, while people over here committing international fraud get a pass. Changing your region to take advantage of alternate pricing (in this case activation) is exactly what got whats-his-face-the-old-op banned from xbl.

This is different from whatever he actually did to get banned. (the Oman wars would have had a lot more casualties if just that got you banned)

This is changed locale on a web page which I'm pretty sure MS can't even detect. It's not like you are changing the region on your console.

Yes I'm sure the Feds will be kicking in doors all day because of this.

Can't decide if I want to open GoW UE since I never played any of them (yet I own them all) on x360.

Sold my Golden Hunter skin for $33 after paypal fees last night to someone with 100 rep/100% (blue star) on ebay.......

But payment wont clear till Sep 9th.

Might just return it I guess :/

Yeah... I'm waiting until they fix that shit. I ain't tryin' to be Oman'ed with all that Golden Crisp $$ in my account...

#Neverforget

Pretty sure I just got my Xbox rewards credit deposited
Looks like mine did as well (from Rare Replay). Interesting since generally it is around this time, but the rewards site also claimed my rewards were pushed back to September 10th (which I've never heard of before). Points haven't been removed from the rewards site, so if they credit me for it twice, that would be quite nice.

For those who bought Gears of War HD
Did it come with a code for Gears 1-J or does it just log you played the game and that's that?

Also, I recently saw they are thinking of making the XB1 backwards compatible with the Xbox.

I hope they do the smart thing and just give it a good emulator/coding to play the games and none of the licensing "Oh you have to download the original game in an emulation wrapper" BS like they did with the 360.

I would imagine it would work the same way as 360 and but too that then use the built in emulator designed for 360. Seems that would be much easier to implement then start from scratch.

No codes with the GoW:UE, they will give you access to the :360: in the future (I assume).

What I'm getting at is this.
The 360 could only play specific XBX games.

The XB1 can only play 360 games that Microsoft gets the license/ok to redistribute... then when you put the disc in, it downloads the entire game in digital format.. but the digital version can only be played with the disc in.

This is entirely the wrong way.

They should just release an emulator wrapper/app which would allow us to put ANY 360 or XBX game into the console and they'd play through the emulator.

It would be easy since the XB1 is what, 10x more powerful than the XBX, and even putting resources to emulation it shouldn't have any problem what so ever.

I was just going to Redbox is and hope I get access, which is why I asked.

Blues & Bullets achievements are up.

Looks like it'll be 200G per episode. No season passes are allowed for ID@Xbox games for whatever reason so you'll need to purchase each one individually.

For those not able to redeem their blops 3 beta code online or on the console and they don't want to change their region on xbox.com, I had success simply logging in and redeeming on mobile. I just logged in on xbox.com on my phone and the code redeemed that way.

You won't get credited twice, it's just how the Rewards program operates. Someone said earlier in the topic (in the past day or so) that someone on the XBL Rewards forums said the deposit date is updated on the web site a few days before deposits occur. So the site showed a 9/10 deposit date for a couple days while the 8/26 or 8/27 date that had been there remains in effect. And it might end up taking another couple of days for the credits to disappear from your account.

Same thing happened to me with the deposit date earlier in the month. Had $7.50 coming when the site said 8/12. As that date approached, the site updated to (I think) 8/27. Was curious, but wasn't in a hurry for that money. A few days later, the money showed up in my MS account and my Rewards balance had dropped.

The XB1 doesn't have the horsepower to directly run 360 game code. Emulating PowerPC on x86 isn't that efficient, and the XB1 isn't enough of a step up from the 360 for performance reliant tasks like gaming. So inserting a disc and downloading a ported for x86 version of the game is most likely how they're doing it. You aren't going to get away from the disc check, though, same way you can't get away from it on the 360 when installing from disc to HDD.

One question I do have about it, though, is with the sizes of the XB1 ports. The Rare Replay copies of XBLA games (both Banjos and Perfect Dark) are ~600 MB larger than their 360 counterparts. The Games on Demand ports are roughly 1 GB larger. Does this PowerPC to x86 porting process really blow up the game sizes that much? Probably not going to get a straight answer from someone at MS, going to take some time for the hacking community to dig under the hood and see what's going on.

Emulating the original Xbox on XB1 should be much more manageable, and could probably use the game discs directly, since both CPUs are x86 based. The original game discs could probably also be used directly, though it would probably improve performance to install to HDD and still use the disc for a license check. That also shouldn't require getting dev / publisher permissions, though making patches available on XBL could be a stumbling block. Online multiplayer support is a whole other beast to tangle with.

The trick with the original Xbox is emulating the GPU. It doesn't look like many inroads have been made in that regard in the hacking community, but since MS co-developed the GPU with Nvidia, they should be privy to the design docs and be a step ahead of the reverse engineering efforts of others.

Just because a law goes unenforced does not change the legality and/or morality of it. People that thumbs down deals because a site charges them tax never like hearing that if the tax is left off it's their responsibility to pay it when they file. The chances you'd get audited over the couple purchases you skipped out on tax on is certainly awfully low, but just remember that if the man can't get any good dirt on you they can always look to nab you on tax evasion.

Moot point, as someone pointed out they're just changing the localization of the page rather than changing regions on billing.

I thought that Oman thing was just people getting banned for changing regions for a GwG (or just a different sale price maybe), I only caught part of the drama cause I was going through some personal shit and not being a very good CAG.

Very decent point, and I wasn't getting away from the Disc..
I just feel it should play off the disc in an emulation wrapper.. however I admit I was assuming it was powerful enough to emulate the games correctly instead of modified ports which I think the BC actually is.

However, I still feel the XB1 could properly emulate XBX.

Maybe someone can help me out ?

Back when points were turned to money i had around $100 left in my account in May of this year. But now that i turn on my Xbox One to play gears of war i see all are funds are gone!!! Anyone else has had this problem too?

I thought that Oman thing was just people getting banned for changing regions for a GwG (or just a different sale price maybe), I only caught part of the drama cause I was going through some personal shit and not being a very good CAG.
The Oman thing was that people created an account for a region that didn't have official marketplace support and exploited bugs in the search system that made certain games appear as free (process detailed here) that worked for Oman and other countries. Their accounts and/or consoles got banned for taking advantage of the exploits.

Maybe someone can help me out ?
Back when points were turned to money i had around $100 left in my account in May of this year. But now that i turn on my Xbox One to play gears of war i see all are funds are gone!!! Anyone else has had this problem too?
They expired this year. Contact Microsoft and tell them you want your space bucks back.

That money (points turned to money) expires after a certain period and that certain period is fairly long (about 2 years). So, your funds may have expired. Check your account, you should see when exactly the money seized to exist.

Allegedly, exploited a hole. I'm innocent until proven guilty in a court of law!!! That sir is slander! I rest my case. And the truth will set you free!!!!

WTF i called Microsoft who told me the money expired and couldnt do anything about it :wall: :bomb: :censored:

Since when does money expire WTF!!!!!!

It expired about two or three months ago. Call back and ask for a manager. Be nice. If you still don't get anywhere threaten that they can't take money from your account and mention something about a class action law suit

What would really be awesome is when you call them back tell them you were a solider over seas fighting in the Oman Wars and come back to the states and now your money is gone. How could they do that to a veteran like your self.
