Not what you were getting at in this comment, but I've been playing a bit of Black Ops 3 lately and have come to the conclusion that I'm no longer any good at these types of shooters. I mean, I never was that great, but way back in the days of Quake, UT, Duke Nukem etc I was at least competitive and would sometimes have a hot streak and go on a rampage.

No longer. Now I'm basically cannon fodder, which I don't mind really except that I drag the team down which makes me very reluctant to continue. With BO3, BO2, BF4, BF3, CoD:AW etc on my shelf, I need to stop buying these games as I never play them.

I think it would be great if there was a way to specify 'pure casual only' and maybe change the rules so average play wasn't such a hindrance to enjoyment. Maybe get rid of posting k:d at all on the scoreboard, and have a mode where your weapon strength was inversely proportional to your success. Core gameplay should remain as it is, of course, for the primary player base, but at least folks like myself would have a reason to buy and to play.

Battlefront

I really like Battlefront and have played it a ton, but I don't think it should be the poster child for "shooter for people who got run out of CoD because they don't want to play 6 hours per day to keep up". Some of the elements that are supposed to level the playing field can actually make it more difficult for lesser players to succeed, IMO. However, what I will say is that I think Battlefront is more fun when you're not playing that well than a lot of other shooters are.

If you have EA Access and haven't tried it yet, I would recommend PvZ: Garden Warfare, too. I know it's got a kiddie aesthetic, but it's a pretty fun class-based shooter that isn't quite so twitchy and provides different character types to suit multiple styles of play.

None of the games you mentioned are tactical shooters.

Keanu Reeves is the second best American actor behind only Woody Harrelson. Point Break, Bill and Ted, The Matrix, and even Speed are all excellent ing movies, and that's barely scratching the surface. I haven't seen John Wick. But I will have to check it out if you think it's his best work.

My favorite part of John Wick is where the bad guy's dad calls up John Leguziamo and says "Why did you slap my son?" and he tells him and this bad ass Russian crime lord goes "Oh" and leaves it at that.

As far as Kojima is concerned, he is starting a new firm, and I doubt he has the kind of funds he needs to finance the start up AND a big new game. It costs millions to make a game like his team makes, and you have to pay people before you see that first dollar roll in from sales. Sony is the obvious choice, he has had close ties with them for years - it has been his lead platform since the Playstation days. Sony is also in need of some heavy hitter exclusives. It all makes sense. Sucks for the Xbox crowd, but market realities.

The thing is Sony is probably looking at two years minimum before the deal is realized. Kojima doesn't make games quickly, and one has to wonder if without people looking over his shoulder if his feature creep will drag this out forever. They will have to either make a new engine, or buy one - remember Konami isn't going to let them carry the Fox Engine out the door with them. If you really want to play his game, the PS4 is likely going to be much cheaper by the time it comes out - just get one then if you want to play it.

The problem is the deal he is making with Sony is a deal to keep his game off of XBox. That is the whole point of many of the deals that Sony has made this gen. He doesn't need to partner with any manufacturer. He can get money through traditional investors or another game publisher.

For an analogy Imagine if someone like Steven Spielburg was contractually tied to a large production company and was let out of that contract. He could secure funding in 1000 different ways because of his rep. Kojima had the same option but whatever Sony was offering was enough to ignore %30-40 of the home console market. It sucks because Sony is absolutely killing it in the marketing deals department while MS seems to not try. Sony it constantly getting console and regular exclusives all year round, while MS doesn't give enough of a shit to try to fight back.

Eh, Kojima needs a lot of money to continue making projects at the caliber of Metal Gear, he clearly didn't want to do everything on his own and have to scale back. Lets think about the publishers that could theoretically make this happen. I think after he makes a couple games he'll be able to branch out and go multiplatform, but it won't be until next generation.

Current market leader, fairly decent history with them in the past, many exclusives and lengthy timed exclusives like MGS4, MGS3 , Zone of the Enders, the handheld Metal Gear games aside from Ghost Babel.

Not the market leader. Their current timed-exclusive third party game (Rise of the Tomb Raider) flopped. Not Japanese, so an exclusive would have really not been good for Kojima.

-Nintendo

Just not big enough. Saving Bayonetta was probably the biggest case of this they've ever had, and Platinum is a much smaller force than Kojima. They do seem to have a decent relationship at least, even if games were fairly rare.

-EA

Guaranteed to him over and take ownership of Kojima Productions. Would force multiplayer of some sort even if game doesn't need it.

-Activision

Doesn't really do single player games, would require DLC and/or microtransactions.

-Ubisoft

This is probably the most likely outside of Sony. They would have wanted to own the IP and would want sequels out the ass.
